JOSE FRUTOSO GARCIA, 68, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Saturday at the Northeastern Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., on June 24, 1935 to the late Frutoso Garcia and Amalia Martinez Garcia. He was a retired self-employed truck driver and also owned and operated an auto salvage yard. A lifelong Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frutoso and Amalia Garcia; mother of his children, Rosa Garcia; many loving brothers and sisters; grandson, Antonio Jose Garcia; daughter, Lupe Garcia; granddaughters, Maya Rose Garcia and Margaret Gallegos.
He is survived by sons and daughters, Fidel V. Garcia and wife Sylvia, and Stella Rascon and husband Darwin all of Albuquerque, Antonio Garcia and wife Debbie of Pojoaque, Mary Ann Turner and husband Mark of Clovis, Henry Garcia and wife Sara, and Molly Martinez and husband Steve all of Las Vegas, N.M., Linda Gallegos and husband David of San Antonio, Texas, Chris Garcia and wife Audrey of La Puebla, Edward Garcia and wife Mary J. of Corrales, Ted Garcia and wife Jeanette of Las Vegas, and Pedro Garcia and wife Anna of Georgia and his mother, Susie Garcia of Las Vegas, N.M.; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Tillie Pacheco and husband Rudy of Tucumcari; and many other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery.

HILARIO RUIZ, 94, of San Isidro, died Friday at Vida Encantada Nursing Facility.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Apolinar Ruiz and Josephina Benavidez Ruiz; one sister, Merlina Ruiz; and two brothers, Jacobo Ruiz and Felimon Ruiz; and brothers-in-law, Rogelio Valencia and Orlando Perea.
He is survived by two sisters, Eulalia "Lala" Valencia and Flora Perea; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in San Isidro (south). He will be layed to rest at his private family plot in San Isidro Sur.

SELMA FAY (REYNOLDS) SETO , died Sept. 23, 2003. Beloved wife of Paul Seto, she was born June 5, 1916 in Salina, Kan. She moved with her family to McAllen, Texas in 1926, and after college, taught for many years in Mexico and Texas. In 1965, she married Paul, inheriting five children by his first wife, Genevieve (sister of Selma), whom she helped to raise. The family moved to Teheran, Iran, where they served as Presbyterian missionaries until 1980. Upon retirement, Selma and Paul moved, first to Albuquerque and then to Santa Fe where they remained active in church, cultural, and service groups.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on November 29, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church, in Santa Fe. Memorial gifts may be sent to First Presbyterian Church, Santa Fe, NM for its "Pastoral Care Endowment".

FRANKIE SOUTHARD, 81, of the Española Valley, died Saturday following a short illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Southard; brothers, Gene, Howard, Marvin and Carl Morgan.
He was a Veteran of the US Army and an active member of La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. He worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratories for 36 years.
He is survived by his children, Jim Southard and wife Sylvia of Albuquerque, and Sandra Salazar and husband Mike of Española; four grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Nub Southard, Shirley Jeude, Iva Hatton, Bud, Jack, Larry and Bill Morgan; six great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

TONY M. SUAZO, 67, of San Pedro, died unexpectedly on Saturday. He was the founder and chairman of the organization "Sportsmen and Concerned Citizens of Northern New Mexico," and a proud sponsor and organizer of the "Put a Smile on a Child's Face" event held annually. He was also a Board Member of the Española National Guard, the Integrated Outreach Program, a Commissioner of the City of Española Planning and Zoning Commission, VFW and American Legion. In 1999 the Española Chamber of Commerce named him "Man of the Year" of the Española Valley. He was also a recipient of the Heroic Award sponsored by the Albuquerque Journal, KRQE Channel 13 and Coronado Mall. The Santa Fe New Mexican named him as one of the "10 Who Made a Difference." He was also recognized by the Rio Arriba County Commission for all his dedication to his community. And finally, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he died doing one of the things he most enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezequiel and Lucinda Suazo and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Miguel and Aurelia Casias.
He is survived by his loving wife Peggy of the home; two special nephews who were like sons, Anthony Moya, Jr. and wife Eunice of San Juan, and Dominic Moya and wife Marissa of Alcalde; another close and dear nephew, Ray Casias, Jr. and wife Annie and their daughters who loved their "Uncle Tony Tickles" very much, Kezziah, Twila and Capriza; four children, Antonio, Richard, Darla and Sally Suazo all of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters, Joe Suazo and wife Coco of Española, Larry Suazo and wife Lucille, Joseph Suazo and wife Viola, Lucilla Romero, Lilly Manzanares and husband Alfonso, Edwina Suazo, and Lorraine Garcia all of Albuquerque; and many other relatives and friends.

MARGARITA GUTIERREZ died Friday in Pueblo, Colo. She was born on Jan. 25, 1925 in Los Martinitos to Juan B. and Josefita Portillos Gutierrez. She worked at the Las Vegas Medical Center from 1956 until 1986. She worked early on as a beautician, later as a nurse's aide on the Children's Ward, Geriatric Care Unit, and her niche was on the Medical Services Ward, from where she retired. During her retirement years, she loved being a lector at both Our Lady of Sorrows and Immaculate Conception Catholic Churches. She enjoyed participating in the various mission churches outside of Las Vegas. During her brief illness, she resided with her daughter in Pueblo, Colo., but her heart was always on her ranch which she successfully managed in Los Martinitos. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court 1301 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Quintana-Frazier and son-in-law Ron J. JUANITA O. SANCHEZ, of Santa Fe, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday. She was born in Pecos in 1920 to Adelaida Dalton and Santiago Ortega. She married Arturo M. Sanchez on June 8, 1938, and raised six children in Santa Fe. She was a member of Cristo Rey parish and Union Protectiva. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adelaida and Santiago Ortega; her brothers, Jose Ortega and Pete Ortega; her husband, Arturo M. Sanchez; her son, Peter Sanchez; her daughter-in-law, Trudi Sanchez; her granddaughter, Denise Sanchez; and her nephew, Cipriano Otrega. She is survived by three sons, Tony and his wife Susan; Jim and his wife Judy; Gil and his wife Donna; two daughters, Ida Romero and Eleanor Sanchez; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Eloisa Montoya and her husband Dan; and many other relatives and friends.
