JAMES "JIMMY"LAWRENCE ARAGON, 60, died Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Albuquerque following an extended illness. He was born Aug. 20, 1943, to Secundino and Dolores Aragon in Mora. He was raised by his grandparents, Samuel and Manuelita Brooks of Le Deux.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served one tour in the battle of the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he was employed as a Welder in the mines of Leadville, Colo., until closing.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Samuel and Manuelita Brooks; father, Secundino Aragon; and nephew Santiago Casados.
He is survived by his mother, Dolores Aragon of El Carmen; special friend, Erica Gonzales of Albuquerque; daughter, Veronica Aragon of Mesa, Ariz.; sons, Sidney Aragon and special friend Matilda Montoya, Tim Aragon and fiance Nicole Gurule all of Albuquerque; and the mother of his children, Josie Aragon of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; brothers, Leroy and Mary Jean Aragon; Charlie and Cathy Aragon all of Santa Fe; B Billy and Roberta Aragon of Houston, Texas, Arnold Aragon of Le Deux; sisters, Theresa Aragon and Patsy Aragon of Las Vegas; Lucille and Jose Scisneros of Santa Fe, JoAnne Gandert and special friend John Esquibel of Albuquerque; Denise and Joey Casados of Las Aguitas, Norma and Patrick Griego of Guadalupita; and many other relatives and friends.
Services have been held. Burial was at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

JOSIE M. ARCHULETA, 86, of Fairview died Sunday following a lengthy illness. She was a school teacher for 38 years, and had her master's degree in education. She was a member of the AARP, American Legion Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters and the Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Salustiano and Cleofas Maestas; sister, Effie Pino; and brother, Dan Maestas.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Abran Archuleta of Fairview; daughters, Olga Lujan and husband Ronny, and Rose-Ellen Garcia and husband Frank all of Fairview; sister, Adela Romero of Fairview; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Public visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home with a wake to be recited at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with interment to follow at 1 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

CENCONITA CANDELARIO, 95, of Talpa died Monday at the home of her niece, Maxine Martinez.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fidel Candelario; parents, Manuel Antonio Maestas and Tomasita T. Maestas; brothers, Anastacio Maestas, Guillermo Maestas, Andres C. Maestas, Pascual Maestas; sisters, Felicitas Romero, Victoriana Duran, Clarita Ortiz, and Felicitas Tafoya.
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Cecilia Tafoya, Amalia Trujillo both of Taos, and Teresena Martinez of Colorado; and many nephews and nieces.
Rosaries will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Rivera Hanlon Funeral Chapel and at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis De Asis. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Asis with interment to follow at Talpa Cemetery.

CLOTILDA T. HOLCOMB, 87, of Santa Clara Pueblo died Saturday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Holcomb and a great-grandson, Darrick Chino.
She is survived by two daughters, Janice R. Vicente of Santa Clara Pueblo, and Bertha Chino and husband Cyrus of Acoma; brother, Frank Leslie of the Navajo Reservation; sister, Ella Mae Kee of Gallup; five grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Devotional services are at 7 p.m. Sunday at Block-Salazar Mortuary. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

PERCY LUJAN, 63, of Chimayó died Friday. He was born Feb. 16, 1940, in Pecos. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a retired captain of the Los Alamos Fire Department. He also served as Chief of the Chimayó Volunteer Fire Department, and was instrumental in securing funding for a new sub-station in Cundiyo, new construction in Chimayó, and advanced firefighter training and equipment so critical in rural areas. He earned the prestigious master's level in instruction in aircraft rescue and firefighting from the Federal Aviation Administration. Other memberships included the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was a founding and life long member of the "Moros y Cristianos" historical organization and of the "Charros" horseman group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose A. and Genevieve Lujan, and Melinda Perez; a dear aunt, Pilar Espinoza; and father-in-law, Leandro Espinoza.
He is survived by his wife, Josie E. Lujan; five daughters, Mary Esther and husband Tommy Lucero, Mary Rose and husband Michael Montalvo, Mary Jo and Kenny Martinez, Mary Beth and husband David Lujan, and Mary Margaret and husband Steve Ney; eight grandchildren; one great grandson; brothers, Lydro Tony Perez and wife Elva, and Robert Perez and wife Mary of Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the Holy Family Church in Chimayó. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Holy Family Church in Chimayó. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

WILLIAM J. "BILLY" MEYER JR. of Santa Fe died Thursday of acute leukemia. A healthy, robust man, he had no knowledge of his leukemia until a few days before his death. He spent the last weekend of his life with his wife, Debra, celebrating their anniversary in the mountains of Colorado and enjoying one of his favorite sports, fishing, before he suffered the sudden onset of the fatal disease.
His life centered around the family home on Delgado Street. His family can trace its roots in Santa Fe back to the late 1800s. He graduated from St. Michael's High School in 1974 and attended the University of New Mexico, where he played on the football team, and Adams State College, where he was on the wrestling team. He married Debra on Sept. 18, 1981, in the family home. He was the manager of the Meyer family properties. He especially loved fly-fishing. He was a member of the St. Francis Cathedral parish.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary J. Meyer.
He is survived by his wife, Debra of Santa Fe; son Billy, a student at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff; son Guy, a student at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.; father, William and his companion Betty Wilde of Sun City West, Ariz.; sister, Lynn Meyer-Davis and her husband Lawton of Albuquerque; sister Debbie Doe and her husband Brian, of La Junta, Colo.; sister, Michelle Meyer of Santa Fe; sister, Amy Pitzer and her husband Tom of Delta Junction, Alaska, and many other relatives and friends.

MADELINE E. PHILLIPS,, 96, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Friday at Northeastern Regional Hospital. She was born Aug. 7, 1907, in Las Vegas, N.M. to A.H. and Bess Harris. She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1927. She was on the Vegas High girls basketball team that won the state championship for four years from 1924-1928. She attended school for one year at Montezuma Baptist College in 1928 and received a teaching certificate. She was one of the last remaining county one-room school teachers of grades 1-8. Her county schools included Ojitos Frios, Sapello, Las Tusas, Trementina, Trujillo and the Storie Project. She married Walter Phillips in 1934 and moved from Las Vegas to the Viveash Ranch in Pecos for four years; then back to Las Vegas, where she and Walter ran a Dairy until 1951. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.H. Harris and Bess Harris; her husband, Walter Phillips; brothers, John, Wayne, and Ted Harris.
She is survived by daughters, Alison Kretz and husband John of Las Vegas, N.M., and Betty Barnes and husband Pete of Claude, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Isabel Griffin of Las Vegas, N.M., and Naomi Skaggs of Sacramento, Calif.; and many other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Chapel. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery.
