LEO A. MARTINEZ, 82, of Las Vegas, N.M., died Wednesday at his home.
He was born in Las Vegas, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a private first class. He was awarded the ATO medal, good conduct medal and World War II victory medal. He worked as a carpenter at the Las Vegas Medical Center for many years. He loved hunting, fishing and playing his guitar. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elias Martinez; mother, Maria Genoveva Archuleta Martinez Tapia; wife, Adelina Martinez and sister, Dominga Welbaum.
He is survived by his son, Joe Robert Martinez and wife Joann; daughter, Priscilla Mirabel and husband Miguel; brother, Emilio Martinez; sister, Helen Martinez, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; five grandchildren; and many other relatives.
A public visitation will be held all day today and Sunday at Rogers Chapel until time of the rosary. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Immaculate Conception Church. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at the same church with burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

JOSE AMADO RAEL, 91, of Arroyo Hondo died Wednesday.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rebecca Rael; children, Steve Rael, Rubana Montoya and husband, Rudy; Elaine Vigil and husband, Arnold; Rudy Rael and wife, Patsy; and Ray Rael and wife, Jeanette; brother, Melcor Rael; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Mass will be celebrated Monday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Burial will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

EDWARD DUANE CAMPBELL, 67, of Santa Fe died Tuesday after a short illness.
He was born in Kerwin, Kan. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University and an Army veteran. He worked for many years in the defense industry with Ling Temco Vought. He worked with Bell Helicopter in Iran when the Shah was overthrown. He was active in many organizations in Dallas and served on the boards of several arts organizations for the 500 Inc. He was a volunteer for St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church, where he served as senior warden. In 2000, he moved with his wife to Santa Fe to enjoy the mountains, sunsets and new adventures. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Webster Campbell; sons, Clayton Webster Campbell and Christopher Turnbull Campbell; sisters, Yvonna Brown and Delores Weston; and brother, Larry Campbell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at Holy Faith Episcopal Church in Santa Fe at a later date. MIGUEL ANTONIO LOVATO, 50, of Espaņola died Tuesday after a long illness. He was a well-educated man with eight years of college. He liked being involved with politics. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan Bautista and Maria Elena Lovato; and brothers and sisters, Ernesto, Alicia, Maria Elena, Juan and Joseph. He is survived by his brothers, Eddie Lovato and wife Mary and Glenn Lovato and wife Helen, all of Ojo Caliente, Levi Lovato of Las Tablas, and Clyde Lovato and wife Beverly of Espaņola; sisters, Christina Griego and husband Tony of La Madera, Flora Gurule of Espaņola, Dora Sanchez and husband Tony of Farmington, and Alice Martinez and husband Carlos of Sanchez; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 6:30 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of the DeVargas Funeral Home. DAMIAN PACHECO, 77, of Mora died Tuesday after a long illness. He was a Korean War veteran and served one enlistment in the U.S. Army. He was an ammunition specialist and was with the 363rd Ordnance Ammunition Company. He was honorably discharged as a PFC in October of 1953. He owned and operated the Valley Parts Store in Mora for more than 40 years. He served the community as a member of the Mora Fire Department, the Mora Water and Sewage Department and the American Legion Post No. 114 in Mora. He served on the board of directors for 17 years with La Jicarita Telephone Cooperative. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, working his land and caring for his cows and horses. He was a member of St. Gertrude's Church in Mora. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at St. Gertrude's Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at the same church with burial to follow in the Santa Nino Cemetery in Monte Aplanado.

LOUIE ROMERO, 57, of Ranchitos died Friday.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ana Maria Romero; and brothers, Leon, John and Francis Romero.
He is survived by his brothers and sister, Freddie Romero, Lloyd Romero and wife Connie, Betty Underhill and husband Isaac, all of Dallas, and Lawrence Romero and wife Viola of Mesquite, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.

JAMES S. RUCKMAN, 68, of Santa Fe died Monday. He retired from PNM after 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Fogerson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gomez-Ruckman; son, Kurt Ruckman and wife Mary; five grandchildren; stepdaughter, Denise Avila and husband Joseph; and many other relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel.

HILDA DEAN DUNLAP, 90, of Santa Fe died Saturday at St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in Paris, Texas. After World War II, she became an assistant to Harding Lawrence in the pre-Braniff Airlines days at Pioneer Airlines. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn Calvin Rice and Thomas Francis Rice; her first husband, Silas A. Dean and her second husband, Robert W. Dunlap. She is survived by her son, David M. Dean and wife Kaye of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Marilynn Dean Kline and husband Robert of Santa Fe; three grandsons; and many other relatives. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday near Houston at South Park Memorial Cemetery in Pearland, Texas. JOSE ELOY ESQUIBEL, 74, of Alcalde died Tuesday in Santa Fe.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and received the Occupation Medal for service in Japan, the Korean Service Medal and the U.N. Service Medal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucario and Encarnacion Esquibel; sons, Donald Esquibel and Derrick Esquibel; sister, Beatrice Sanchez; and brother, Joe Esquibel.
He is survived by his wife, Vincentita; son, Daniel E. Esquibel of the family home; daughter, Jeanette Martinez and husband Benjie of La Mesilla; sister, Cleo Martinez of Velarde; brother, Robert Esquibel of Santa Fe; grandchildren he raised as his own, Julie Chacon and Donald Lee Esquibel; three other grandchildren; and many other relatives. Mass will be celebrated today at 9 a.m. at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Alcalde with burial to follow with full military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

CERILA LUCERO, 79, of El Rito died Wednesday. She enjoyed working at Northern New Mexico Community College and the Senior Citizen Center of Espaņola.
She was a member of St. Anthony Sagrada Familia.
She loved caring for her grandchildren.
She enjoyed cooking and volunteering at Hacienda De Salud.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Lucero; daughter, Frances Vigil; parents, Victoria Archuleta and Roman Archuleta; close sister, Teodorita; and other brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Diane and husband Juan Martinez of La Villita and Anna and husband David Martinez of Taos; brother, Jose Archuleta; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives. A visitation will be held at 2:30 p.m. today with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at San Juan Nepomuceno Catholic Church.
Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday at the same church with burial to follow at El Rito Catholic Cemetery.

ANTONIO DENNIS LUJAN, 66, of Espaņola died Wednesday.
He was affectionately known throughout the valley as "Cheesy" and was a well-known "sobador" and horse trainer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacobo and Juanita M. Lujan; wife, Sharna; and brothers, Jacobo Lujan Jr., Robert Lujan, Richard Lujan and Filimon Lujan.
He is survived by his brothers, Manuel Lujan and wife Gaby and Paul Lujan and wife Nancy; sisters, Ida Bustos and Diolinda Herrera and husband Dennis; close friends, Velma Clavelle and Lucille Romero; and many other relatives and friends.
