Alexander Padilla

A memorial service for Alexander Sabin Padilla, 23, who died Jan. 9 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Neptune Society of Nye County chapel, with Pastor Ron Trummell officiating.

He was born Nov. 11, 1980 in Denver and worked as a general laborer.

His mother Irene (Jorge) Nunfio of Pahrump; brothers Adam of Pahrump, and Jorge Jr. and Lester, both of Guatemala; sister Carolina of Guatemala; and grandparents Medardo and Frita Padilla of Pahrump survive him.

Eva Barlow

Services for Eva Barlow, 89, who died Jan. 11 in Henderson, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary on Boulder Highway in Henderson.

She was born Oct. 14, 1914 in Crockett, Texas, and over the past 60 years was a resident of Shoshone, Calif., Pahrump and Henderson.

Her daughter Elizabeth of Texas; sons Thomas of Henderson and Asa of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren survive her. (1/11/04)

Nelta Hamilton

Visitation for Nelta Hamilton, 88, who died Jan. 10 in Mesquite, will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Chief Tecopa cemetery.

She was born June 4, 1915 in Adrian, Mich. She was a resident of Las Vegas since 1965 coming from California.

She worked in sales until retiring, and belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Her daughter Nancy J. Earle of Pahrump; sons Stanley E. Burden of Pahrump, Arthur L. Burden of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul S. Burden of Las Vegas, N.M., Leslie J. Burden of Pahrump; Donald N. Burden of Las Vegas, Nev., 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband Vernon M. Burden, and her parents, Leslie K. and Olive E. Hamilton, preceded her in death.

Ann Hughs

Ann Hughs, 79, died Jan. 11 in Las Vegas. She will be interred at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

She was born Oct. 6, 1924, and was a 17-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a waitress at Fitzgerald's in Las Vegas until retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the Culinary Union and belonged to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

Her husband C.R. Hughs of Pahrump; son Rex (Pat) Hughs of Freemont, Ohio; three sisters; one brother; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive her.

Eldon Travis

A memorial service for Eldon "E.T." Travis, 74, who died Jan. 10 in Las Vegas, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born Feb. 12, 1929 in Texas and was a Pahrump resident since 1991, coming from Everett, Wash.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman from 1948-1968, and then worked as a storekeeper for Boeing until his retirement in 1991.

A Protestant, he was a life member of the VFW and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association.

His wife Elaine of Pahrump; son Patrick Travis of Pahrump; daughters Cynthia Massie of Ohio and Kathleen Travis of Washington; six grandchildren and one great grandchild survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Aaron Baker

Services have been held for Aaron Baker, 81, who died Jan. 11.

He was born March 14, 1922 in Rock Island, Ill., and was a resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked as an electrician in the construction industry.

He was a member of the local Pahrump chapter of the Masons, Moose Lodge No. 54 and belonged to Decalogue Lodge No. 160 in Skokie, Ill. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Medinah Shriners in Chicago.

His wife Roslyn of Pahrump; sons Darryl Baker of Batavia, Ill., and Blaine Baker of Des Plaines, Ill.; and companion and friend, Topaz, survive him.

His son, Bruce Baker, preceded him in death.

Dorothy Huckins

Services were held in Yerington for Dorothy Ada Amy Huckins, 83, who died Jan. 13 in Las Vegas.

She was born Oct. 15, 1920 in London, Eng., and was a resident of Pahrump for four years. She was a homemaker.

Her daughters Vivien Wilkinson of Yerington and Heather Gang of Pahrump; brothers Roy King and Victor King; and grandchildren Amy, James and Kevin Gang and Capt. Stanley Wilkinson survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harry Huckins, in 1997; her daughter, Christine, in 1942; and her parents, Albert King and Ada (Marker) King.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pahrump Senior Center.

Betty Green

Betty June Green, 78, died Jan. 9 in Las Vegas. She was born in 1925 and was a 13-year resident of Pahrump.

Her husband of 60 years, Charles, of Pahrump; daughters Nancy (Glenn) Silva of Pahrump; Kathleen Brundage of Delta, Colo.; son Charles Green of Napa, Calif.; granddaughter Rachel Perry of Pahrump; nine other grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren survive her. (1/9/04)

Rose Maeder

Private family services will be held for Rose Marie Maeder, 42, who died Jan. 16 in Las Vegas.

She was born April 2, 1961 in Caliente and was a lifetime Nevada resident, spending the last two years in Pahrump.

She was co-owner of All Automotive automobile repair in Pahrump.

Her husband, Fred Chambers, of Pahrump; stepdaughter Sara Ford of Las Vegas; parents Joe and Betty Maeder of Caliente, brothers Jody Maeder of Pahrump and Mike Maeder of Washington; and two grandchildren survive her.

Nevada Funeral Service handled the arrangements. (1/16/04)

Rick Bukowski

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Honeysuckle Park for Rick Bukowski, 50, who died Jan. 15 in Pahrump. A fellowship will follow the service at 4 p.m. at Terrible's Town Casino.

He was born May 27, 1953 in San Jose, Calif., and moved to Pahrump in 2002 coming from Winnemucca.

He worked as a truck driver. He was a devoted son, father, husband and brother.

His wife Patricia; sons Christopher (Lorraine) Kirkpatrick, C.J. and Daniel; daughter Paige; parents Joe and Marie Bukowski; brothers Joe (Mercedes) Bukowski and David (Darcy) Bukowski; sisters Becky (Bill) Williams, Janet Orr, Lori (Jack) Greewalt and Theresa Milzao; mother-in-law Gloria Nielson; and numerous nieces and nephews survive him.

Grant Edwards

Grant McAlister Edwards, 68, who died Nov. 16 in Pahrump, was interred at Grace Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum in Hitchcock, Texas.

He was born March 15, 1935 in Galveston, Texas, and was a resident of Pahrump since 1990, coming from Texas City, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and worked as a self-employed carpenter.

His sons Gary Edwards of California and Grand Edwards of Minnesota; daughters Deborah Fokas Leonard, Susan Guardagna and Gerrie Edwards McGraw, all of California; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren survive him.

Ralph Lisle

No services will be held for Ralph Fairbanks Lisle, 89, who died Jan. 16 in Las Vegas.

He was born June 18, 1914 in Fernley. He and his wife, Chloe Colvin Lisle, owned and operated several businesses in Beatty over a 50-year period.

He was a dedicated family man and public servant. He served as Justice of the Peace, Nye County Commissioner, Nye County Hospital Board member and Beatty Clinic Board member. He also served on the Beatty Department of Parks and Recreation, was a director for the Valley Electric Association, was a life member of the Beatty Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Lions Club, and of the Goldfield Masonic Lodge.

His sons James (Becky) Lisle of Bishop, Calif., and John (Gennie) Lisle of Beatty; brother Phillip Lisle of Pahrump; sister Celesta Lowe of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews survive him.

His wife of 61 years, Chloe, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beatty Museum.
