Nancy Brunker

Nancy Dew Brunker, 49, died Jan. 18 in Pahrump.

She was born April 30, 1954 and lived in Utah until 1995. She married Blaine Brunker April 17, 1982, and they moved to Pahrump in 1997.

She was an exceptional horsewoman and trainer with many top ten AQHA World Champions in jumping, working hunter and hunter hack. During the past year, she was riding and training again. She brought out the best in those she taught: horses, dogs and people alike.

She was a companion to her husband, Blaine; a wonderful mother to her children, Dusty, Sue, Dawnette, Dee, Capitan and Sunny; a mentor and a friend. (1/18/04)

Pat Kaye

No services will be held for Pat "The Brat" Kaye, 48, who died Jan. 23 in Las Vegas.

She was born Oct. 2, 1955 in Oshkosh, Wisc., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years. She was a homemaker.

Her sons Kris Kaye and Dane Tomasko of Las Vegas; daughters Jazlyn Giguere of Pahrump and Deja Giguere of Las Vegas survive her.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service handled the arrangements. (1/23/04)

Elmo Larason

Visitation for Elmo "Slim" Larason, 90, who died Jan. 22 in Las Vegas, will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Bunkers Mortuary in Las Vegas. Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday.

He was born Dec. 9, 1913 in Oklahoma City and was a resident of Pahrump since 2000.

He was a truck driver and a member of Teamsters Local 631 from 1939 to 1984.

His wife Shirley of Pahrump; sons Gordon Lee Larason, Jack D. Larason, both of Nevada, Charles E. Banks and Lynn V. Welch, both of Las Vegas; daughter Dianne L. Land of Las Vegas; brother Charles Larason of Golden Valley, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren survive him.

Marilyn Fisher

A memorial service for Marilyn Fisher, 75, who died Dec. 23 in Staten Island, N.Y., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Community Church in Tecopa, Calif.

She was born Jan. 27, 1928 in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a Tecopa resident for nearly 50 years.

She and her husband, Bob Fisher, were very active in the Tecopa community and at Faith Community Church where they both attended.

Her brother Herb (Barbara) Setlow of Staten Island survives her.

Her husband Bob preceded her in death. (12/23/03)

Aaron Jones

A memorial service for Aaron C. Jones, 62, who died Jan. 28, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born March 7, 1941 in Colburn, Colo., and was a 12-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Indian Springs.

He worked as an operator/miner for Reeco until his retirement two years ago, and was a member of the Masons.

His wife Karen Smith-Jones of Pahrump; daughters Bonnie Grant and Patty Shogren, both of Las Vegas; son Brian Jones of Las Vegas; sisters Dorothy Reed of Colorado and Sarah Irvine of Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren survive him.

Bruce Patterson

Bruce Patterson, 70, died Jan. 26 in Pahrump. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Masonic Lodge No. 54 in Pahrump. Services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born Aug. 10, 1933 in Picher, Okla., and was a resident of Pahrump since Jan. 1, 1994, coming from Sylmar, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver.

He was a member of Scottish Rite, Shriners, and served as the current Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge No. 54 in Pahrump.

He loved racecars, community work and his children.

His wife Anna of Pahrump; sons Robert (Christy) Patterson of Riverside, Calif., Bruce Patterson Jr. of Denver and Dennis Patterson of Tulsa, Okla.; daughters Kathy (Larry) Patterson of Miami, Okla., and Jean Ann Patterson of Tulsa; niece Virginia Lee; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren survive him.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (1/26/04)

George Batalias

Private family services were held for George Batalias, 82, who died Dec. 17 in Pahrump.

He was born April 9, 1921 in New York, and was a resident of Pahrump since 2001, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a truck driver.

He was of the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Teamsters.

His wife Mildred of Pahrump; sons George H. Batalias and James Robert Batalias, both of Las Vegas; sisters Frances Frank of Las Vegas, Florence Cielicki of New York and Edith Krithades of Virginia; one grandchild; and three great grandchildren survive him.

Helen Roesch

Services for Helen (Betty) Roberta Roesch, 74, who died Feb. 1 in Pahrump, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Faith Fellowship in the Wheeler Springs Plaza.

She was born April 4, 1929 in Holt, Mich., and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a nurse until her retirement 20 years ago. She was a member of the Pahrump Valley Republican Women's Club and belonged to Faith Fellowship Church.

Her husband Walter Edward Roesch of Pahrump; daughters Phyllis (Larry) Straight of Capistrano Beach, Calif., and Laurie (Lee) Krumm of Pahrump; sons Steven Hellyer of Olympia, Wash. and David (Dawn) Hellyer of Omak, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren survive her.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Fellowship, 921 South Highway 160, Suite 401, or to the blood drive to be held at the Bob Ruud Community Center from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 13 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 14.

Juel Anderson

Private family services will be held for Juel E. Anderson, 56, who died Feb. 2 in Pahrump.

He was born Sept. 24, 1948 in Missouri, and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He worked in funeral sales and was a Jehovah's Witness.

His wife Gene of Pahrump; sons David Stout of California and Brad Stout of Oklahoma; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive him.

Richard Lombardo

Services have been held for Richard Salvatore Lombardo, 61, who died Feb. 2.

He was born Feb. 23, 1942 in South Carolina. He was a resident of Pahrump since 1979, coming from California.

He served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the U.S. Submarine Service and was stationed on the USS Sargo SNN 583. He worked in the real estate industry.

His son Gary Lee Nicholson of Pahrump; daughters Traci Renee (Sam) Lombardo of Simi Valley, Calif., and Laura Bennett of Oklahoma City; father Joseph Lombardo; brothers Steve (Marilyn) Lombardo of Pahrump and Tony (Julie) Lombardo of Palmdale, Calif.; and three grandchildren survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

William Brown

Services for William P. Brown, 79, who died Feb. 3, in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

He was born April 30, 1924 in Newcastle, Ind., and was an 18-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.

He worked in motel management until his retirement in 1986, and was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

His wife Pauline of Pahrump; daughters Cheryl (Paul) McMichael of Yucaipa, Calif., Brenda (Ken) Yantis of Pahrump, Andrea (Frank) Hartline of Bakersfield, Calif., and Denise (Jerry) Snider of Crestline, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren survive him.

His father Percy H. Brown and mother Helen Fetters preceded him in death.
