Albert Griggs

Private family services will be held for Albert Franklin Griggs, 81, who died Feb. 7 in Pahrump.

He was born March 2, 1922 in Faulkton, S.D., and moved to Pahrump in 1992, coming from San Diego.

He worked as a civil engineer for Lamesia Engineering, retiring after 25 years. He then worked for five years for Nolte and Associates.

His wife Mary Alice Griggs of Pahrump; son Albert Franklin (Michelle) Griggs II of Branson, Mo.; daughters Cheris (Dr. Arla) Markin of Las Vegas and Holly (Mark) Mitchell of Fordland, Mo.; brother Jack (Bertie) Griggs; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren survive him.

His son Randall Griggs and brother Clarence Griggs preceded him in death.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (2/7/04)

Robert Millar

Private family services will be held for Robert Millar, 61, who died Feb. 10 in Pahrump. He was born Feb. 25, 1942 in Portland, Ore., and was an 18-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Vancouver, Wash. He worked as a seaman for Crowley until his retirement in January 2002. His wife Helen Millar of Pahrump; daughters Dawn (Ray) Bennett and Lori Millar, both of Pahrump; son William Millar of Portland; sister Helenjean (Pete) Johnson of Pahrump; brothers Jim (Donna) Millar of Portland, Bill Millar of Seattle and John (Addie) Millar of Gresham, Ore.; and three grandchildren survive him. His parents preceded him in death. Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (2/10/04)

Juel Anderson

A memorial service for Juel E. Anderson, 56, who died Feb. 2 in Pahrump, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at Thousandaire Boulevard and Homestead Road. He was born Sept. 24, 1948 in Missouri, and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas. He worked in funeral sales and was a Jehovah's Witness. His wife Gene of Pahrump; sons David Stout of California and Brad Stout of Oklahoma; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and millions of brothers and sisters survive him. Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (2/2/04)

Ronald Litzenberger

No services will be held for Ronald Philip Litzenberger, 57, who died Feb. 9. He was born Aug. 14, 1946 in Walla Walla, Wash., to Daniel and Iris Vance Comstock Litzenberger. He grew up in Yakima, Wash., graduating from Eisenhower High School in June 1965, where he excelled in baseball and golf. He hit two holes-in-one by the age of 16 and still holds the course record in Ogden, Utah at the Ben Loman Golf Course. He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He graduated from Weber State University in Ogden and moved back to Yakima in 1982. He met his wife there in 1984 and they moved to Pahrump in 1998. His wife of 19 years, Susan Bower-Litzenberger of Pahrump; daughters Tammy (Jay) Mooney of Federal Way, Wash., and Amanda N. of Pahrump; son Lance T. of Pahrump; brother Danny; three nieces and one nephew survive him. His parents, brother Terry in 1965, and sister Sherry Barden in 2004, preceded him in death. (2/9/04)

Marlene Holtz

A memorial service for Marlene Rita Holtz, 64, who died Jan. 23 in Pahrump, was held at the Waterhole Jan. 27. She was born April 22, 1939 in Lansing, Mich., to Alfred J. and Amy Mathilda Olson Gutsche. She married John in San Felipe, Baja California Mexico on May 16, 1981 by the city's mayor. The couple honeymooned in Baja and the mainland of Mexico for two weeks prior to returning to their respective careers in City of Industry, Calif. They moved to Pahrump in 1999, coming from Huntington Beach, Calif., and became involved in the community almost immediately. Beginning in January 2002, she worked as an administrative assistant for the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, where she had volunteered the previous year. She and John were very active in the International Chili Society and helped to found the Silver State Regional Chili Championship in Pahrump. Her husband John of Pahrump; sons Joseph M. Crane of Nampa, Idaho, Steven L. Crane of San Francisco, and Michael Crane of Oahu, Hawaii; and brother Layne Gutsche of Humaco, Puerto Rico survive her. Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. Per her wishes, Marlene's ashes will be scattered in the Sea of Cortez, which she dearly loved. (1/23/04)

Rosie Page

Services for Rosie Page, 76, who died Feb. 7, will be held today in Apple Valley, Calif. She was born April 6, 1927 in Missouri and was a resident of Pahrump for three years. She was retired from Wal-Mart and belonged to the Pahrump Valley Performing Arts Council, the Dancing Steps and the Desert Quilters. She is survived by a loving family and many dear friends. Dudley Mortuary handled the arrangements. (2/7/04)

Andrew Briscoe

Visitation for Andrew Russell Briscoe, 1, who died Feb. 9 in Las Vegas, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Neptune Society chapel. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Lois K. Hedden presiding. Burial will follow at Grandview cemetery. He was born Dec. 30, 2002 in Las Vegas and lived in Pahrump all his life. From the family: Baby Andrew was the happiest little boy anyone could ever come across. Everyone who laid eyes on him fell in love with him, his beautiful blue eyes, the world's longest eyelashes, and his beautiful, dimpled smile. He loved to watch ESPN with his grandpa and go to basketball games or just be anywhere with grandma. He was an angel sent from Heaven who had to be sent home early. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. His mother Lori Hopkins of Pahrump; father Josh Briscoe of Pahrump; brother Christopher of Pahrump; sister Alyvia of Pahrump; grandparents Bob and Sara Hopkins of Pahrump and Ephraim and Mel Briscoe of Pahrump survive him. Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (2/9/04)

Gladys Trout

A memorial service for Gladys Irene Trout, 78, who died Feb. 8 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the LDS Church. She was born April 3, 1925 in Glendale, Ariz., and has lived in Pahrump since May 2000. Her stepdaughter Barbara Heaver of Illinois; brother Cecil Gillespie of Arkansas; sisters Virginia Lucas of Missouri and Ruth Hanson of Indiana; two grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren survive her. Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (2/8/04)

James Clark

A memorial service for James R. Clark, 72, who died Feb. 13 in Henderson, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.

He was born Sept. 20, 1931 in Texas and was a 30-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was self-employed in the construction industry.

He had served as president of the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, president of the Pahrump Arts Council, and Pahrump Town Board member.

His wife Connie of Pahrump; sons K.C. (Brinda) Clark, Jim (Debbie) Clark and David (Wonda) Clark, all of Arizona; daughters Vicki Clark of Arizona, Jimi Ruth (Trevor) Offenbacker of Las Vegas; Sandi (Greg) Poff and Kimberly Clark, both of Washington; 17 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.

Gail Brown

Services have been held for Gail Elizabeth Brown, 62, who died Feb. 12 in Pahrump.

She was born April 7, 1941 in Duluth, Minn. and was a 15-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Her husband Frank of Pahrump; sons Mark (Cindy) Klein and Todd (Robbin) Klein, both of Casper, Wyo., Patrick Klein of Sheridan, Wyo., and Brian (Danielle) Klein of Las Vegas; daughter Cindy (Gary) Garvin of Casper, Wyo.; brother Thomas (Pat) Bergin of Wisconsin; sister Barbara Bergin of Florida; grandchildren Matt, Jakob, Jessica, Ethan, Carly, Cory, Benny, Brittany and William; and family members Fay Hanna, Norma Pauace, Emerald Kregness, Werner Davis, Jerome and Marin Davis, all of Duluth, survive her.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pahrump Humane Society.

Donald Johnson

Private family services will be held for Donald Elmer Johnson, 68, who died Feb. 10 in Pahrump.

He was born April 19, 1935 in Great Falls, Mont., and lived in Pahrump since 1999, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Navy and worked in the gaming industry in Las Vegas.

He was an avid handball player and held champion status. He loved baseball, his friends and family.

His daughter Sally (Gill) Garcia of Texas; brother Derald Dorlarque of Montana; and cousins June (Bill) Shawen and Carol Massman, both of Montana, survive him.

Rosalie Shettle

Services have been held for Rosalie Elizabeth Shettle, 74, who died Feb. 7. in Las Vegas.

She was born April 18, 1929 in Baltimore, Md., and was a resident of Pahrump for four years.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Her husband Charles Shettle of Pahrump; children Sue Smith, Kathy Minor, Kerrin Shettle, Kim Watkins, Pam Grimes, John Shettle and Lisa Caster; and grandchildren Jessica, Eric, Sean, Cassandra, Michael, Steven, Daniel, Kyle, Shane, Lexus, Chase, and Nicholas survive her. (2/7/04)

Maria Bustamante

Services have been held for Maria Magdalena Bustamante, 60, who died Feb. 13.

She was born July 22, 1943 in Galeana Chihuahua, Mexico, and was a resident of Amargosa Valley since 1998, coming from Winnemucca.

She was a homemaker and a Christian who loved her church, husband, children, family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Her husband Jesus of Amargosa Valley; daughter Loruhama Lepa Bustamante (Isreal) of Amargosa Valley; brother Pedro Villa of El Paso,; sisters Martina Porter, Elana Penion, Alejandra Carbajal and Ernestina Nunez; and three grandchildren survive her.

Harry Tobin

Services have been held for Harry Albert Tobin, 84, who died Feb. 17 in Las Vegas.

He was born Oct. 10, 1919 in Martinsburg, W. Va., and was a resident of Pahrump for 13 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and owned and operated a retail store until his retirement.

His wife Sarah of Pahrump, daughters Helen Stevens of Elliott, Iowa, Mary Ragan of La Habra, Calif., and Pati Colvin of Park City, Utah; and six grandchildren survive him.
