Laurence Welsh

No services will be held for Laurence Morris Welsh, 81, who died Sept. 18 in Pahrump.

He was born Sept. 14, 1923 in Oklahoma. He served with the 96 Bomber Group of the Army Air Corps and then worked as an electrician.

He moved to Pahrump three years ago from Madison, Ala. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners.

His daughters Cathy (Lawrence) Mayfield of Pahrump and Anita Carlon of Patton, Calif.; sisters Laurel Roberts of Union Gap, Wash. and Winona (Wayne) Edwards of Tappenish, Wash.; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive him.

His brother, Walter Welsh, preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Jay Springer

Private family services will be held for Jay Springer, 59, who died Sept. 6 in Pahrump.

He was born July 31, 1945 in Ohio and was a resident of Pahrump for three years, coming from California.

He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and then worked as a truck driver for True Line.

His mother, Grace M. Springer, of Texas; sons Lawrence W. (Diane) Gillis of California; Jason T. Springer and Steven Valente, both of Georgia; daughter Gina Gillis of Nevada; and six grandchildren (plus one due in March 2005) survive him.

Donald Goucher

A memorial service for Donald Burl Goucher, 71, who died Sept. 7 in Pahrump will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Fellowship, Wheeler Springs Plaza, 921 S. Highway 160.

He was born Jan. 13, 1933 in Oregan, Mo., to Gerald E. Goucher and Ella R. Carr.

He worked in the manufactured housing industry in Pahrump from 1985 to present. He was vice president of the Pahrump Chamber of Commerce for four years, and spent six years on the Church Council at Faith Fellowship Four Square Church.

His wife Betty of Pahrump; sons Randy Goucher of August, Kan., and Charlie Goucher of Pahrump; stepsons Marcus Padgett of Chicago and Darrell Keppner of Pahrump; daughters Marilyn McClure, Tricia Bassingthwaighte and Connie Mead, all of Augusta, and Donella O'Gorman of Amarillo, Texas; stepdaughter Verna Padgett of Pahrump; brother Lynn Goucher of Kansas; sisters Lois Chance, Bert Alfaro and Kay Hill, all of Kansas; 20 grandchildren (two in Pahrump and 18 in Kansas); and seven great grandchildren (two in Pahrump and five in Kansas), survive him.

His parents Gerald and Ella Goucher, stepfathers Francis Wise and George Blythe, sister Gerry Berger, and two grandsons preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Faith Fellowship building fund, 921 S. Highway 160, Suite 401, Pahrump 89048. (9/7/04)

Jay Springer

Private family services will be held for Jay Springer, 59, who died Sept. 6 in Pahrump.

He was born July 31, 1945 in Ohio and was a resident of Pahrump for three years, coming from California.

He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War and last worked for True Line as a truck driver.

He was known to his friends as "Lucky" and to the truckers on the road as "The Flying L."

His mother, Grace M. Springer, of Florida; sons Jason (Le Anne) Springer of Georgia, Lawrence (Diane) Gillis and Steve Valente, both of California; daughter Gina Gillis of Nevada; six grandchildren (plus one due in March 2005); and eight nieces and nephews survive him.

William Alexander

A memorial service for William B. Alexander, 68, who died Sept. 21 in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Southern Baptist Church, 741 E. Fehrs Way.

He was born Oct. 1, 1935 in Phoenix and was a 16-year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Navy and then worked as a real estate agent.

His daughters, Karen Sanson of Colorado, Karrie Sweeney and Krista Sarver, both of California; and brothers Tom Alexander of Pahrump and Robert Alexander of Brea, Calif., survive him.

Leonardo Comacho

Private family services will be held for Leonardo Felix Camacho, 83, who died Sept. 9, in Pahrump.

He was born Nov. 6, 1920 in Lima, Peru and moved to Pahrump three years ago, coming from California. He worked as an accountant and was of the Catholic faith.

His wife Hilda Camacho of California; son Carlos Camacho of Pahrump; daughter Ana Maria Camacho and Espy Enriquez, both of California; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren survive him.

Duane Yost

No services will be held for Duane K. Yost, 64, who died Sept. 18.

He was born Nov. 6, 1939 in Haxtun, Colo. He was baptized Nov. 28, 1939 and confirmed in 1953 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

His first marriage was to Joyce Heisten in 1958. In 1965 he married Evelyn Deke. The couple moved to Springerville, Ariz., where he worked as a truck driver while raising three daughters.

After his 25-year marriage to Evelyn, he moved to Pahrump where he spent the last 13 years of his life with longtime partner, Sandy Watts.

His daughters Tammy (Mike) Kaber of Edgewood, N.M., Debbie Good of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Kerry (Paul) Salazar of Tucson, Ariz.; brother Dale (Charlotte) Yost of Johnstown, Colo.; granddaughter Samantha Salazar; and his cat Sophie, survive him.

His parents, Ernest and Elsie Yost preceded him in death. (9/18/04)

Lloyd Johnson

Services for Lloyd Johnson, 67, who died Sept. 12 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born Oct. 24, 1937 in Michigan and moved from California to Pahrump 15 years ago.

He served in the U.S. Marines as a fighter pilot and then worked as a manager in the aerospace industry until his retirement nine years ago.

He belonged to the VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. A Christian, he was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship.

His wife Muriel Johnson of Pahrump, and sons Jay Johnson of California and Christopher Johnson of Nevada, survive him.

His parents preceded him in death.

David Torrence

Memorial services were held in Buffalo, Wyo., Sept. 17 for David Lee Torrence, who passed away Aug. 10 in Glendale, Ariz. Burial was in Willow Grave cemetery in Buffalo.

He was born Dec. 27, 1959 in Sheridan, Wyo., to Wilbur and Georgette Torrence. He grew up and attended schools in Buffalo.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Huacha, Ariz. He served with the 2221st Quartermaster Company (petroleum supply), Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf, where he received numerous medals, awards and honors.

His son Michael of Sheridan, Wyo.; mother Georgette Torrence of Pahrump; sisters Bonnie (Paolo) Formisano of Sheridan and Susan Torrence of Billings, Mont.; brother Rodney (Corrinne) of Eagle Mountain, Utah; three nephews and one niece, survive him.

His father Wilbur, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Casper, well known residents of the Tecopa, Calif. and Pahrump areas, and Mr. and Mrs. John Torrence, preceded him in death. (8/10/04)

Earl Shipp

Private family services will be held for Earl Wesley Shipp, 74, who died Sept. 25 in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 31, 1930 in Oklahoma City and moved to Pahrump in 1982, coming from Norwalk, Calif.

His wife Clarine Shipp of Pahrump; sons Earl (Sharon) Shipp Jr. of Oklahoma and Billy LeRoy Shipp of Iowa; daughters Vicky Lynn Loch of Virginia and Virginia Lee Abbott of Pahrump; sister Shirley (Cecil) Herrell of Nevada; 13 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren, survive him.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (9/25/04)

Donna Williams

Services for Donna Williams, 63, who died Sept. 28 in Pahrump, will be held at 4 p.m. today at the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.

She was born June 10, 1941 in Iowa and was a 12-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She worked in management at Terrible's in Pahrump and was of Lutheran faith.

Her husband William Sells of Pahrump; daughters Hannah Williams and Heather Williams, both of Pahrump, and Durnea Williams of Las Vegas; son Dustin Williams of Tabor, Iowa; stepdaughters Marlene Terpenning of Steubenville, Ohio and Meleah Martin of Council Bluffs; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren survive her.

Her parents, Audrey and George Atkinson, preceded her in death.
