Michael Kaahea

Michael Kaaihala Kaahea, Jr., 61, passed away July 18 in Las Vegas.

He was born Dec. 20, 1943 in Kalihi, Hawaii, and has been a Pahrump resident for the past six years.

He was a retired plan estimator for 33 years at the Public Works Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

His companion of 20 years, Linda Frisbie Kaahea; sons Michael K. Kaahea III of Maui, Hawaii and Keoki Kaahea of St. Joseph, Mo.; daughters Ipo-Lani Laumana andTeresa (Abel) Pahinui of Oahu, Hawaii, and Charlotte (Roy) Uyeno of Pahrump; sisters Julia Boteilho and Helen Davis of Maui, Hawaii; hanai brother Glenn Mattos of Honolulu, Hawaii; eight grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, survive him.

His sister, Ruth Kekoa, preceded him in death on July 4, 2005.

There will be no funeral services in Nevada. A family gathering celebrating his life will be held at his home in Pahrump on Aug. 7. Final interment will be in Oahu, to be determined at a later date.

Helen Klier

Helen F. Klier, 90, passed away July 15 at her home in Pahrump with her daughter Mary, great granddaughter Sabrina and close family friend Susie at her side. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Chief Tecopa cemetery. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Marshall, who passed away Dec. 7, 2004.

She was born April 30, 1915 in Buffalo, N.Y. Helen and Marshall moved to Pahrump in 1998 to be closer to their daughter Mary, and her husband Bruce, who own B&C Printing and Pahrump Tractor.

Helen spent her time tending to her African violets, her vegetable garden and the fish in the pond. Her greatest joy was her great granddaughter Sabrina, and she spent every day with her. She will be greatly missed by Sabrina and the rest of her family.

Helen was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Roman Catholic Church.

Her daughter Mary (Bruce) Paskvan of Pahrump; sons Thomas (Joann) Klier of Garden Grove, Calif., and Marty (Janet) Klier of Ten Mile, Ore.; grandsons Jason and Joshua of Pahrump; granddaughters Jodie and Jackie of California; and great granddaughter Sabrina survive her.

Her husband of 67 years, Marshall, and son, Dennis M. Klier, preceded her in death.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (7/15/04)

Joseph Romo

A memorial service for Joseph L. Romo, 84, who passed away July 19 in Las Vegas, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary - Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road, Las Vegas.

He was born June 21, 1921 in Westwood, Calif., and lived in Pahrump most of his life.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then worked as a painter, retiring from the hotel/casino industry.

His wife Molly Romo of Pahrump; daughters Gloria A. Ricketson of Douglas, Ga., and Irene L. Helling of Las Vegas; sons Robert J. Romo of Anaheim, Calif., and John R. Romo of Pahrump; sisters Carmen Grace and Rosemary Key, both of Las Vegas; brother Frank Romo of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren survive him.

Glenda Groesbeck

Viewing for Glenda Lee Groesbeck, 67, who passed away Aug. 23 in Las Vegas, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Private family services will be held.

She was born July 28, 1938 in Idaho. She was a 15-year resident of Pahrump coming from Las Vegas, and was a member of the LDS Church.

Her husband Aland Groesbeck (Boyd) of Pahrump; sons Russell and Danny Groesbeck, both of Pahrump, and Scott Groesbeck of Las Vegas; and brother Dennis Baird of Minnesota survive her.

Warner Kerns

A memorial service for Warner Scott Kerns, 31, who passed away Aug. 23, will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Calvada Duck Ponds.

He was born June 18, 1974 in Oceanside, Calif., and moved to Pahrump in 1994 from Reno.

He was employed at Valley Electric as a lineman for the past 10 years.

Warner enjoyed riding his dirt bikes and spending time with family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.

His wife of five years, Stephanie; 4-year-old Kyle; father Ronnie Kerns of Pahrump; mother Patricia Kerns of Escondido, Calif.; sister Theresa Anderson of Reno; nieces Harmony and Melody; nephew Noah; grandmother Norene Sommers of Escondido; mother-in-law and father-in-law Kelly and Mike Zahn; and brother-in-law Nash Zahn of Pahrump, survive him.

His grandfather Charles Sommers and brother-in-law Ian Anderson preceded him in death. (8/23/04)

Sharon Leiva-Gomez

Private family services will be held for Sharon Leiva-Gomez, 67, who passed away Aug. 21 in Las Vegas.

She was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Wolf Point, Mont., and moved to Pahrump three years ago from Las Vegas.

She retired from Costco three years ago and was a member of Red Hats on the Go.

Her daughter Jacinda Misty Amador of Las Vegas; sons Daniel McSwain of Pahrump and Richard McSwain of Las Vegas; mother Doris Morani of Las Vegas; sister Pauline Goss of Pahrump; niece Tammy Wooldridge of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren survive her.

Her stepfather, Elmo Morani, preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson Street, Las Vegas 89119.

Frank Ronich

Services have been held for Frank Albert Ronich, 83, who passed away Aug. 18 in Pahrump. Interment was at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922 in Crosby, Minn., and moved to Nevada in 1993 coming from Walford Heights, Calif.

He retired from the U.S. Navy as a CPO.

He was a member of the Elks, Dust Devil RV Club, the VFW and Retired Enlisted Association.

His wife Hertha Ronich of Pahrump; sons Michael Ronich of Tacoma, Wash., and Frank Wayne Ronich of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughters Florica Hagendoum of Las Vegas, Lou Page of Bentonville, Ark., and Pat Masterman of Florida; and 15 grandchildren survive him.

Ronald Walcott

Ronald Leroy Walcott, 34, passed away Aug. 6 in Colorado.

He was born Jan. 10, 1971, the fifth child of Danny L. and Helen J. Walcott. He will be missed.

His mother Helen J. (Pete) Hackworth; sisters Jerrie Strube and family, Jennie Fuson and family, and Joyce Walcott; brother Randall Walcott; Grandma Walcott; and numerous great aunts, great uncles and family members survive him.

He was cremated in Denver. His ashes were spread between his father's and grandfather's plots on Aug. 12 in Idaho Springs cemetery in Idaho Springs, Colo. (8/6/05)

Frank Woner

A memorial service for Frank Payton Woner, 73, who passed away Aug. 30 in Idaho Falls Hospital, will be held at the Pahrump Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

He was born Aug. 9, 1932 in Ft. Morgan, Colo. He moved to Nevada in 1958.

During his life, he was a dairy farmer, a building inspector, a General Manager of the Pahrump Ranch, a Project Manager for Preferred Equities Corporation, a Justice of the Peace in Pahrump and served on the Soil Conservation District Board. He also owned his own trucking company, was a self-taught CAD draftsman, and was a homebuilder in Wyoming and Idaho.

His wife Janice Woner; children Kerrie (Mike) Borta, Janet (Mark) Hansen, Laurie Wall, Joanna Johnson, Benny (Cathy) Woner and Glenn (Kim) Woner; sisters Lois Clark, Jacqueline Ruud, Leila (Don) Upton, Charlotte (Ron) Floyd, Margaret (Angel) Elgorriaga and Glenna (Richard) Sims; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren survive him. Wayne Chesnut

Services will be held for Wayne D. Chesnut, 67, who passed away Sept. 6. in Hawthorne. A service, date pending, will be held in Fresno, Calif., and a private family service in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho will follow.

He was born Oct. 18, 1937 in Stewart, Neb., and served in the Marine Corps. After the Marines, he worked in radio and television broadcasting; was a film actor and producer; and then became a real estate broker. He retired from Wagon Train Realty in Fresno, Calif.

His wife Donna Chesnut of Pahrump; children Suzi Kenitzer of Fresno, Calif., Jason Mayden of Pahrump; Sheila McCrain of Sioux City, Iowa, Jim McCrain of Plano, Texas, Sheryll Costenbader of New Jersey, Wayne Everett Chesnut of Reedley, Calif., Yvonne Naylor of Austin, Texas; mother Bernadine Angelina Chesnut; brothers Gary, Barry, David and Walter (Bud) Chesnut; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.

Donations in his name may be made to the Red Cross or your favorite charity for Hurricane Katrina refugees.

Robert Buttes

No services will be held for Robert G. Buttes, 75, who passed away Sept. 10 in Amargosa Valley.

He was born April 16, 1930 in Tennessee and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He moved to Amargosa from Pahrump in 2003.

His friend Sandy Matteson and employees of Fort Amargosa survive him.
