Marrion Newberry
Services for Marrion A. Newberry, 81, who passed away Nov. 12 in Las Vegas, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at 5th Street LDS Church in Boulder City.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Climax Springs, Mo. He was a 42-year resident of Las Vegas.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and retired as a middle school teacher.
His daughters Nina Carr, Michelle Newberry of Pahrump, Jennifer Craig of Las Vegas, and Maria Hardy of Arbutus, Md. and five grandchildren survive him.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary in Henderson and another visitation will be held from 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday at 5th Street LDS Church in Boulder City. Interment will be at 10:40 a.m. Thursday at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery.

Peggy Andrews
Peggy L. Andrews, 79, passed away Dec. 21 at her home in Pahrump.
She was born Jan. 10, 1924 in Shamrock, Texas to Robert Homer and Susie Jane (Houston) Compary. She was named Artie Loretta Pearl Compary and acquired the lifelong nickname of Peggy.
Her husband Vernon Andrews of Pahrump; son Steven Scott (Tracy) Andrews of Las Vegas; sister Opal M. Compary of Clovis, N.M.; aunt Anges Houston of Tustin, Calif.; step-grandson Jerry (Shannon) Barker of Pahrump; and many nieces and nephews survive her.
Her father Robert Compary, mother Susie Thomas, half-brother Andy Compary, half-sisters Florence Hill and Kitty Boldes, sisters Mildred Fails and Ruby Pauline Watkins, brother R.D. Compary, daughters Peggy Diane Bires and Sherry Cathleen Bires and son Frank Bires preceded her in death.
A gathering of family friends to honor her memory will be held at the Andrews' home Saturday. (12/21/04)
Roger Gandrud
Roger Todd Gandrud, 42, passed away Dec. 20, 2004 in Pahrump. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary. He was born Aug. 5, 1962 in Henderson, Nev., and moved to Pahrump seven years ago coming from Las Vegas.
He worked as a groundskeeper and was of Christian faith.
His daughters Jackie Jean and Rachel from Oregon, and Renee from Pahrump; sons Anthony Joe from Pahrump and Roger Todd Jr. from Oregon; mother Thelma Gandrud of Henderson, Nev.; three brothers; four sisters; 26 nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren, survive him.

Sidney Turpin
Private family services have been arranged for Sidney Dee Turpin, 78, who passed away Jan. 4 in Pahrump.
He was born July 20, 1926 in El Reno, Okla. He moved to Pahrump in 1979, coming from the Pomona and Chino area, Calif. He worked as a plumber and was-self employed as an independent contractor for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He was also in the U.S. Army and was a lifetime member of the Pomona VFW, as well as a member of the color guard. He served as a deacon for the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church.
His spouse Sandra Turpin of Pahrump; sons Sidney Paul Turpin, William Carl (Nancy) Turpin, Christopher D. (Windy) Turpin, all of California; daughters Sheila Gail (Paul) Hicks and Shawn Denise (Mike) Martinez of California; daughters Coady Marie Turpin and Skye Danielle Turpin of Nevada; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, survive him.

Max Hendrickson
No services are scheduled for Max Hendrickson, 87, who passed away Dec. 23, 2004 in Las Vegas.
He was born Aug. 8, 1917 in Illinois. He was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, coming from California. Before retirement, he worked in the aircraft industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was in World War II.
His son Richard N. Hendrickson of Illinois; daughters Carol LaBate of Connecticut and Donna Potillo of New York, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren, survive him.

Don Pettit
Private family services have been scheduled for Don Otis Pettit, 74, who passed away Jan. 4 in Pahrump.
He was born Oct. 29, 1930 in Redlands, Calif., and moved to Pahrump in 1995.
He was a member of the DAV and Goldwing Motorcycle Association, Pahrump Valley Riders, and was a member of the West Valley Mission Church.
His spouse June Pettit of Pahrump; daughter Gabrielle Western of Vernal, Utah; three grandchildren and one great grandchild, survive him.

Leroy Bailey
Private family services have been held for Leroy Bailey, 73, who passed away Jan. 2 in Las Vegas.
He was born Jan. 9 in Santa Monica, Calif., and moved to Pahrum pin 1988, coming from Las Vegas. He was a warehouse worker for the Teamsters upon retirement.
His daughters Linda Gayle Sabo, Sheryl Lisa Durkin; and three grandchildren, survive him.

William Nedrow
A memorial service for William Nedrow, 86, who passed away Jan. 3 in Pahrump, has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Escape Park, 5750 S. Oakridge.
Also known as Bill, he was born May 16, 1918 in Oregon, Ill., and was a resident of Pahrump for 10 years, coming from Aurora, Ill.
He worked as a painter and interior decorator for his brother, Larry, as well as self employed. He retired in 1976. He belonged to the Masons and the American Legion and was a veteran military policeman of the U.S. Army.
His wife Ruth Nedrow of Pahrump; daughters Judy of Washington, D.C., Mary Beth and Peggy of Aurora, Ill., and Claudia of Truckee, Calif.; sons Bill Jr. of Oswego, Ill., and Morey of Aurora, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, survive him.
His mother, father, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Claire Hennigh
Private family services will be held for Claire Anne Hennigh, 68, who passed away Jan. 10 at her home in Pahrump.
The daughter of Seneca Major Abell and Irma Ruth Fox Abell, she was born Oct. 19, 1936 in Mattoon, Ill.
She married
Larry Hennigh of Windsor, Ill., on Oct. 30, 1955. They lived in Windsor until 1962, when the family moved to Albuquerque, N.M. In 1964, Claire and her family moved to Las Vegas.
She worked as a banquet waitress at most of the major hotels in Las Vegas from 1970 to 1990. She and her husband opened C&L Mini Storage in Pahrump in 1994 and sold it in 2003.
She was a beloved wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband Larry of 49 years; daughter Marina Farmer; son Lance Hennigh; grandchildren Samuel Anders and Matthew Farmer, all of Pahrump; and mother Irma Abell of Mattoon.
Her father Seneca, infant brother Robert and brother John Abell preceded her in death.
A memorial celebrating Claire's life will be held at a later date.

Sandra Christophiades
No services will be held for Sandra Christophiades, 64, who passed away Jan. 4 in Las Vegas.
She was born April 9, 1940 in Florida and was a 12-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.
She worked as a private nurse and was a member of the Humane Society.
Her husband Fred Christophiades of Pahrump; sons Royce Lynn Archer and Robert Edward Archer of Poweder Springs, Ga.; sisters Roberta G. Fowler of Las Vegas, Sharron L. Cox and Candace M. Hahn, both of California; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive her.

Annie Redmond
No services will be held for Annie Redmond, 94, who passed away Dec. 31 in Pahrump.
She was born in Skidoo, Calif. in 1911 and was a homemaker.
Her sons Dan Shoshone of Pahrump, Louis Shoshone of Death Valley and Jack Bryant of Reno; daughters Ethel Shoshone Blackford of Charles Town, W. Va., and Marilyn Shoshone Gibbons of Reno; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive her.
Her sons Frankie Shoshone and George Bryant Jr. preceded her in death.

Edwin Hughes
Private family services will be held for Edwin Joseph Hughes, 89, who passed away Jan. 7 in Las Vegas.
He was born May 15, 1915 in Maryland and moved to Pahrump nine years ago.
He worked as a supervisor in the aerospace industry before retiring and was of the Methodist faith.
His wife Martha Hughes of Pahrump survives him.
One son and one daughter preceded him in death.
