Wallace Mitchell

A memorial service for Wallace T. Mitchell, 62, who passed away July 27 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Moose Lodge, 1100 Second Street.

He was born Jan. 24, 1942 in Roswell, N.M., and was a resident of Pahrump for seven years coming from Las Vegas.

He served with the Navy Seabees for 11 years and then worked as a mechanic.

His wife Beverly of Pahrump; daughters Bearl Mitchell (Steve Smith) of Las Vegas), KaLynn (Rick) Coffman of Pahrump and Marlene Mitchell of Petaluma, Calif.; stepson Kevin Bergheim of Pahrump; and 10 grandchildren survive him.

James Odagis

No services are scheduled for James A. Odagis, 77, who passed away July 27 in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 6, 1928 in Reading, Penn., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years.

He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Meridian Bank in Pennsylvania.

His daughter Elaine Odagis of Mohnton, Penn., granddaughter Kyra Odagis, and special friend Joyce Barrack of Pahrump survive him. (7/27/05)

Charles Knight

A memorial service for Charles Edward "Chuck" Knight, 72, who passed away July 24, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Pahrump Moose Lodge, Second and Center streets.

He was born in Vallejo, Calif., on Nov. 19, 1932 to Horace Knight and Dorothy Van Val Kingburg. He moved to Pahrump in 1992.

His wife Laurie Knight of Pahrump; brother Ron (Mary) Knight of Grants Pass, Ore.; two half-sisters Carol and Jeannie of California; daughters Chris Woodford of Grants Pass, Cathy (John) Seville of Burlington, Wash., and Cindy (Tim) Callahan of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; three grandchildren, Melissa (Giuseppe) Callahan of San Diego, Calif., MaiLani Kaililanu and James Woodford of Grants Pass; two stepsons; great grandson Cameron; five step grandchildren and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins survive him.

Shirley Skluzacek

Shirley Skluzacek, 90, passed away Aug. 10 in Pahrump. Services are pending and will be held at Bethany Funeral Home in LaVista, Neb., with interment at Forrest Lawn in Omaha, Neb.

She was born April 8, 1915 in Omaha and moved from there to Pahrump more than four years ago.

She graduated from North High School in Omaha. She worked as a meter maid for the city of Omaha until retiring in 1967 and was a member of Pahrump Community Church.

Her daughters Nancy (Robert) Prusia of Omaha and Geraldine (Larry) Taylor of Pahrump; six grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband Edward Skluzacek, mother Myrtle Turner, father Leslie Turner, brother Walter Turner, sister Donna Shanhan and granddaughter LaKeishia Prusia preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice and Pahrump Community Church.

Russell Knight

A memorial service for Russell Dee Knight, 59, who passed away Aug. 10 in Pahrump, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born May 8, 1946 in St. George, Utah and moved to Pahrump a year ago from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Rolling Thunder Run to the Wall.

His brother Alfred Jay Knight of Pahrump; sister Joree (Joseph) Williams of Apple Valley, Calif.; four great nieces; and five great nephews survive him.

Sandra Bogash

Private family services were held for Sandra J. Bogash, 65, who passed away Aug. 16.

She was a retired cosmetologist who came to Pahrump this year from Gary, Ind. She was very artistic and enjoyed ceramics. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and her dog Roxanne. Sandra will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Her husband Gerald of Pahrump; children Karyl Mahler of Gary, Ind., Gerry Goggans and Gayle, both of Hammond, Ind., and John Goggans of Hobart, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive her.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (8/16/05)

Monty Kelly

A memorial service for Monty J. Kelly, 44, who passed away Aug. 13, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Preferred RV Park clubhouse, 1801 E. Crawford Way behind Terrible's Town.

He was born July 15, 1961 in Sacramento, Calif. He moved to Pahrump less than a year ago and worked for Las Vegas Paving.

His wife Margie; mother and stepfather Nancy and Rodney Mayback of Pahrump; sister Shirley (Rick) Hutson and nephews Curtis and Jarrod Hutson, of Janesville, Calif., survive him.

His father preceded him in death. (8/13/05)

Eugene McCracken

Services for Eugene "Mac" McCracken, 77, who passed away Aug. 15 at his home in Pahrump, will be held at 1:20 p.m. Monday at the Southern Nevada Veterans cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.

He was born Aug. 8, 1928 in West Plains, Mo. He and his wife Zona moved to Pahrump in May 1991, coming from Riverside, Calif. Mac brought his trucking business with him and semi-retired, but did freelance hauling until 1998.

When they moved, they brought with them 25 horses: two American Quarter Horses and 23 American Paint Horses. The McCrackens brought two of their horses to the American Paint Horse World Shows and both placed in the top 10, and one became an APHA champion. Their other horses have received too many awards to mention.

Mac was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, serving in Japan and Korea during wartime. He received many awards during his service including the Bronze Star for Valor.

His wife Zona of Pahrump; son Frank McCracken of West Covina, Calif.; daughters Kay Manning of West Covina and Sue Lopez of San Dimas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren survive him.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Nathan Adelson Hospice personnel and their many friends for the help and kindness.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or a favorite charity.

Gary Miller Gary O. Miler, 66, passed away Aug. 13 in Pahrump. A celebration of life potluck will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Eve'n Keel, 1330 E. Calvada Blvd.

He was born March 2, 1939 in Whittier, Calif., and was a 36-year resident of Pahrump coming from Livermore, Calif.

He worked as an electronic technician for Sandia Lab at the Nevada Test Site for more than 31 years until retiring in 1993.

His wife Betty Miller of Pahrump; son Gary S. (Billie) Miller of Pahrump; daughters Wendy Eve (Todd) of Pahrump, Shadda Miller of Las Vegas and Mona Miller of Henderson; sister Dee (Don) Staple of Salem, Ore.; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren survive him.

His parents preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gary's favorite charity, the American Cancer Society.

Ramon Ramos

Services for Ramon Ramos, 81, who passed away Aug. 16, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Neptune Society of Nye County on Buol Lane.

He was born Aug. 9, 1924 in Puerto Rico. He came from a large family of 17, of which he was the oldest.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

After the war he came to the U.S. where he worked in New York and Ohio before moving to California in the early 1960s to work in the mining industry. He worked in the Tecopa/Death Valley area until 1988 when he retired from American Borate Company.

Ramon loved to fish and hunt. He was a great gardener and always had a garden, a beautiful lawn and flowers. He enjoyed nothing better than sharing his vegetables with neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

His wife of 33 years, Lila Ramos, of Pahrump; children Ramon Jr. and Robert of New York City, Bernobe and Marabelle of Rochester, N.Y., Edelmira, Fernando and Luis from Puerto Rico, Lylene (Alvaro) Pallan and Sandy (John) Headrick of Farmington, N.M.; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren survive him.

Frank Ronich

Services for Frank Albert Ronich, 83, who passed away Aug. 17 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born Jan. 21, 1922 in Minnesota and moved to Nevada in 1993 coming from Walford Heights, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Navy and had worked as a Foreman Rigger at the Ammunition Depot.

He was a member of the Elks, Dust Devil RV Club, the VFW and Retired Enlisted Association.

His wife Hertha Ronich of Pahrump; sons Michael Ronich of Tacoma, Wash., and Frank Wayne Ronich of Bakersfield, Calif.; daughters Flanica Hagendoum of Las Vegas, Lou Page of Bentonville, Ark., and Pat Masterman of Florida; and 15 grandchildren survive him.

Sandi Stark

A celebration of life for Sandi K. Stark, 58, who passed away Aug. 11 in Pahrump, will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3750 S. Rainbow, four blocks east of Homestead off Gamebird.

She was born March 28, 1947 in Wisconsin. She was raised in Arizona and moved from Phoenix to Pahrump 10 years ago.

She graduated from the University of California, Berkley, and worked as a freelance writer. She was a former staff writer for the Pahrump Valley Gazette and won numerous press awards in Nevada.

She was a member of the Pahrump Pow-wow committee, a former member of the Pahrump Arts Council and tutored art at the Community College of Southern Nevada Pahrump campus.

Her companion of 23 years, Leon L. Tate, of Pahrump; son Patrick I. Taylor of Phoenix; sisters Nancy Baade of Las Cruces, N.M. and Dixie Dight of Glendale, Ariz.; and grandson Malachi Taylor survive her.

Her parents preceded her in death.
