Joyce Scales

Private family services will be held for Dr. Joyce R. Scales, 83, who passed away Feb. 4 in Pahrump.

She was born Aug. 20, 1922 in Pitts, Pa. She was a Pahrump resident since 1999, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a veterinarian. She was also a Tuskegee University alumnus.

Her husband Marvin says, "God put us together for a reason; to love and take care of each other. I miss you."

Her husband Marvin E. Lang Sr., of Pahrump; son Eldridge Scales Jr., of Las Vegas; and one grandchild survive her.

Her first husband Dr. Eldridge Scales, Ph.D., preceded her in death.

Ronald Gamber

Services for Ronald James Gamber, 69, who passed away Feb. 4 in Las Vegas, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born May 23, 1936 in Washington, Pa. He was a two-year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then worked as a safety engineer for the U.S. government.

His wife Christy Lyn Gamber of Pahrump; sons Alex Gamber of Lebanon, Ohio, Shaun Massey of Lompoc, Calif., and Robert Taylor of Pahrump; daughters Linda Cioffi of Washington, D.C., Betty Ann Neal of Washington, D.C., Suzanne Gamber of Sacramento, Calif., and Gina Rosario of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren survive him.

Affordable Cremation & Burial Service at 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., in Las Vegas handled the arrangements. (02/04/06)

Nicole Canino

Private family services will be held for Nicole Marie Canino, 32, who passed away Feb. 2 in Las Vegas.

She was born Sept. 19, 1973 in Blue Island, Ill. She was a 10-year resident of Nevada, coming from Illinois.

She worked in the food and beverage industry.

Her father Frank Canino of Illinois; sister Deanna Mendoza of Nevada; brothers Jeff Balderrama, Jason Balderrama and Rick Balderrama, all of Nevada; nieces Katie Canino and Victoria Mendoza, both of Nevada; and Nephew Elijah Balderrama of Nevada survive her.

Her mother Kathlyn Marie Canino preceded her in death.

Steven Johnson

Private family services were held for Steven Johnson, 46, who passed away Feb. 6 in Pahrump.

He was born April 27, 1959 in Decatur, Ill. He was a 20-year resident of Pahrump.

He worked as a chef.

His wife Carolyn Johnson of Pahrump; daughters Stephanie Johnson of Las Vegas and Shannon Johnson of Pahrump; son and best friend Jeremy Johnson of Pahrump; father William Wilsong; brothers John Johnson of Las Vegas, Dan Johnson of California, Casey Shirley of Pahrump, and Mike Wilsong of Chicago, Ill.; sister Tonya Dickus of Missouri; and grandfather James Young of Las Vegas survive him.

His mother Florence Wilsong preceded him in death.

Rick Neal

Private family services were held for Rick Neal, 59, who passed away Feb. 3 in Pahrump.

He was born July 12, 1946 in Baton Rouge, La. He was a six-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Noel, Mo.

He worked as a real estate appraiser and was also a member of the Shriners, the Masons, the Elks lodge and the Moose Lodge.

His mother Betty Neal; daughters Erica (Matthew) Hayes and Julie Neal; and grandchild Braden Hayes survive him.

Charles Lewis

Private family services were held for Charles Paxton Lewis, 56, who passed away Feb. 5 in Pahrump.

He was born Dec. 9, 1949 in California. He was a three-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a chef.

His daughters Sherri, Angela, Desiree and Deanna; sons Shane and Michael; 10 grandsons and three granddaughters survive him.

Patrick Dalton

Services were held for Patrick Joseph Dalton, 39, who passed away Jan. 31 in Pahrump.

He was born Nov. 27, 1966 in Nevada. He was a 10-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He worked in construction.

His wife Kimberly Dalton; children Alexandra, Taryn, Terrence, Lauren and Kylee; Joanne Gleason of Boulder City; and parents Tim and Lyn Dalton survive him.

His sister Jennifer Dalton preceded him in death.

Howard Mason

Howard P. Mason, 87, of Pahrump passed away Feb. 6 at his residence.

He was born July 4, 1918.

He served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a civil engineer.

His son James H. Mason of Decatur, Ill., survives him. (02/06/06)

Patrick Ward

A remembrance gathering for Patrick R. Ward, 68, who passed away Jan. 30 in Pahrump, will be held from 1 p.m. until dark Feb. 18 at his home. Call 727-5535.

He was born Jan. 27, 1938 in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was an 11-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He was also a member of the Desert Drifters Gunfighters.

His brother Stanley (Retha) Ward of Pahrump; companion Bonnie Kinney of Pahrump; sons Rickey (Jennifer) Ward of Georgia and Jeff (Cindy) Tatum of Las Vegas; and four grandchildren survive him.

His parents, four sisters and seven brothers preceded him in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to a local cancer society.

Lois Spiegler

Services were held for Lois Marie Kerr Campbell Spiegler, 73, who passed away Jan. 29 in Indiana.

She was born Nov. 12, 1932.

She was a self-employed tax preparer for many years and owned Essential Services. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Elks Lodge and the Women of the Moose.

Her husband Richard Spiegler; Sherry Lamp of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., and Jerri (Steve) Goldenberg of Canyon Country, Calif.; sons Jerome (Paula) Stillions of Bloomington, Ind., and Gerry (Karen) Stillions of Zionsville, Ind.; brother Rev. Dr. Paul Kerr of Indianapolis; sister Mary Crohn of Bloomington; brothers-in-law Gene Spiegler of Las Vegas and Calvin Crohn of Bloomington; sisters-in-law Jo Ballard of Overton, Rosa Kerr and Doris Kerr of Bloomington and Betty Jane Kerr of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren survive her.

Her parents Samuel Ross Kerr and Lola Myrtle Galyan Kerr; brothers Fred Kerr, Robert Kerr, Charles Kerr and James Mark Kerr; and sisters Laura Dillman and Ruby Mae Kerr, all of Bloomington, preceded her in death.

Roger Primm

Private services were held for Roger Primm, 28, who passed away Feb. 10 in Panamint Springs, Calif.

He was born March 4, 1977 in Texas. He was a 22-year resident of Pahrump.

His parents Bill and Vickie Primm; brothers John T. Primm and Jeff Eslack; sister Jeannie Primm; grandparent Jean Primm; and nieces Sharon Primm and Kaylee Primm survive him. (02/10/06)
