Arlan Kintzler

Services for Arlan G. Kintzler, 74, who passed away in Las Vegas on May 31, 2006 will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Neptune Society of Nye County Chapel.

He was born May 7, 1932 in Broken Bow, Neb. He was a seven-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Missoula, Mont.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a business owner.

His wife of 53 years Ruth; sons Randal and Douglas Kintzler of Bozeman, Mont.; sister Elaine Williamson of Douglas, Wyo. and brother Ronnie Lee (Roz) Kintzler survive him.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Moose Lodge.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (05/31/06)

Marcela Spevak

Services for Marcela Spevak, 57, who passed away June 3 at her home in Pahrump, will be held at noon on Tuesday at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, Calif.

She was born June 7, 1948 in Kladno, Calif. She was an eight year resident of Pahrump.

Her husband Tibor Fodor of Pahrump, sons Mike M. Spevak and Eric Fodor, both of Pahrump survive her.

Her husband Frank and brother Frank Spevak preceded her in death.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements.

Anthony Risko

A memorial service for Anthony Michael Risko, 12, who passed away June 8, 2006, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Husband of Mary in Las Vegas.

He was born June 8, 1994 in Galloway, N.J. He was a two-year resident of Pahrump.

His parents Dawn and Anthony Risko of Pahrump; sister Brittany Risko of Pahrump; grandfather Pete Risko of New Jersey; grandmother Judy Campion of Las Vegas; and aunts, uncles and cousins survive him.

Donations to the Anthony Risko Memorial Fund may be made to Bank of America, account number 005011403976.

Palm Mortuary-Jones in Las Vegas, 1600 S. Jones, handled the arrangements. (06/08/06)

Quentin Delle

Services for Quentin Rockford Delle, fire chief of Crystal, who died June 19, 2006 in Las Vegas, will be held at 9 a.m. July 8 at the park with state firefighter representatives and Veterans of Foreign Wars members present in Crystal.

He was born to Edwin and Drusilla Delle in Dayton, Ohio, grew up in Pacific Beach, Calif., and graduated from Mission Bay High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam and in Germany. He owned furniture and toy stores in San Diego and a shed-building business in Pahrump. He had also been a long-haul truck driver.

He loved all animals, especially dogs, owning several during his life. He enjoyed classical music, old-time television shows, working on his house and garden and walking in the desert.

His brother Carsten (Diane) Delle of San Diego; sister Miki (Todd) Delle Gilliland of Bellingham, Wash.; aunt Marguerite Kepper of Tacoma, Wash.; nephews Mark Smith, Troy Delle and Todd Delle; nieces Tami (Mete) Sahin and Rhonda Thompson; four great nieces, five great nephews and several cousins; and special friends Laura and Pete Vavricka and Bobbie and Mike Sullivan of the Crystal Fire Department, who called him brother, and Jim (Lynn) Kilgore of Methuen, Mass., who called him "Dad," survive him.

His parents, brother Edward Delle and three nephews preceded him in death.

A mass for the dead will be recited in Bellingham, Wash. (06/19/06)

Raymond Steffy

Private services will be held for Raymond "Mikey" Steffy, 56, who passed away June 13, 2006 in Pahrump.

He was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Oregon. He was a resident of Pahrump.

His daughter Alisa Noakes, granddaughter Paige Noakes and grandson Christian Noakes, all of Oregon, survive him.

Mary Jo Riley-Young

Mary Jo Riley-Young, 80, passed away June 26, 2006 at home.

She was born April 29, 1926 in Newark, Ohio. She was a 14-year resident of Pahrump.

She was the author of a book about cheesecake.

Her husband James R. Young of Pahrump; daughter April Reding; Maureen and Ed Marsh; Carol Greer and Raymond McCowand; stepdaughter Beverly Byington; sister Nancy; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild survive her.

Her parents Carlos Riley and Edna Fuller; brother Bruz Riley; and sisters Elsie and Nedra preceded her in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (06/26/06)

Roma Parsons

Private services will be held for Roma A. Parsons, 97, who passed away June 28, 2006 in Las Vegas.

She was born Sept. 4, 1908 in Sweetwater, Texas. She was a resident of Pahrump since 1969, coming from Las Vegas and Colorado.

She was a business owner who built and named The Saddle West in 1969, built the Gold Pan in Johnny and built the Grand Lake Colorado Lodge.

Her nephew Jerry Reed of Clovis, Calif., and many grandchildren survive her.

Vernon Cottom

A memorial service for Vernon Stouffer Cottom, 82, who passed away April 30, 2006 in Pahrump, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Pahrump Community Church.

He was born June 4, 1923 in Scottdale, Pa., the son of Walter and Grace Cottom. He spent his childhood, along with his sister Verna "Ruth" and brothers John and Robert, in Lima, Ohio, where he graduated from North Lima High School in 1942.

He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and provided protection to merchant vessels as part of the Navy's Armed Guard unit.

On March 31, 1946 he married Jennie Elizabeth Johnson in Newhall, Calif. They had two children, Mary Ellen and Ronald Eugene. Jennie preceded him in death in 1960.

He worked for more than 30 years for California Water and Telephone Company. The company merged with General Telephone Company and was later renamed Verizon. While working for General Telephone, he transferred to Beaverton, Ore., and met Betty Elnora Cox. They married on April 26, 1969 and lived in Hillsboro, Ore. Betty had two previous sons, Jack and James Hahn. While living in Hillsboro, Vernon and Betty also helped raise Jacqueline Hahn, daughter of Betty's son Jack. After retiring from General Telephone in 1979, they traveled throughout the United States and spent many summers and winters vacationing in Tecopa, Calif., and Pahrump. Vernon and Betty moved to Pahrump in 1991. Betty and her two sons and his brother John preceded Vernon in death.

He attended both the Pahrump Community Chruch and the Pahrump United Methodist Church. During this time, he met Mary Pratt. They were married at the Pahrump Community Church on Nov. 4, 2000. Mary has two daughters, Korla and Sharon.

His wife Mary; daughter Mary Ellen Rapko of Valencia, Calif., her three children and six grandchildren; son Ronald (Karen) of Glendora, Calif., and their three children; step granddaughter Jacqueline (Rick) Dunn of Jasper, Ga.; sister Verna Ruth of Columbiana, Ohio; and brother Robert of Charlotte, N.C. survive him.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Pahrump Community Church food bank or building fund. (04/30/06)

Patricia Adkins

Private family services were held for Patricia Adkins, 73, who passed away June 2, 2006 in Las Vegas.

She was born Nov. 10, 1932 in Ohio. She was a 12-year Nevada resident, coming from California.

She worked in the real estate profession.

Her daughters Helen Mack of California and Patricia (Robert) Callway of Oregon; son Robert (Lori) Mack of Texas; brother Ralph Stockman of Florida; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband John, parents, brother Charles Stockman, sister and daughter preceded her in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Harold Propster

Harold "Hap" Propster, 90, passed away June 28, 2006 at his home in Pahrump.

He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and lived in Long Beach, Calif., and Oceanside, Calif., prior to moving to Pahrump in 1991.

He was a World War II veteran, which included the Battle of The Bulge. He was a VFW lifetime member of post No. 10054 in Pahrump.

His daughters Candice Rush of Pahrump and Judith McGovern of Prescott, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren survive him.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (06/28/06).

Robert Erickson

Services for Robert C. Erickson, 82, who passed away May 23, 2006 will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church.

He was born Oct. 13, 1923 in Chicago, Ill. He was a 25-year resident of Pahrump.

He was a veteran of World War II who flew 32 combat missions over Europe as a second lieutenant in the Army-Air Corps. He then worked as a CPA in Pahrump for 25 years.

His sons John and Paul; brother Paul Erickson of Chicago; sister-in-law Jo; and five nieces and nephews survive him.

His wife Betty Erickson of Pahrump preceded him in death in 1995.

The Nevada Burial and Cremation Society in Las Vegas handled the arrangements. (05/23/06)
