Gerturde Hileman

Private family services will be held for Gertrude M. Hileman, 80, who passed away Sept. 29, 2006, at her home in Pahrump.

She was born March 19, 1926, in Colorado. She was a Pahrump resident since the summer of 1984.

Her husband Glenn; daughters Terry (Burdett) Ward, Glenna (John) Rambish and Lea Ann Snyder; son Paul (Dee) Hileman; brothers Bill (Sarah) Kay and George (Caroline) Kay; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a son and a granddaughter.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (09/21/06)

Russell Jackson

Private family services will be held for Russell K. Jackson, 40, who passed away Sept. 27, 2006, in Beatty.

He was born Jan. 31, 1966, in Fillmore, Utah. He was a one-year resident of Beatty, coming from Utah.

He worked as a truck driver.

His sons Nicholous Jackson and Brandon Jackson, both of Utah; parents William Ross and Luella June Jackson, both of Utah; brother Ross Jackson of Utah; sisters Margaret Bishop, Tamara Miles and Barbara Stephey, all of Nevada; and one grandchild survive him.

Edward Bedson

Services for Edward L. Bedson, 81, who passed away Sept. 30, 2006, at Nathan Adelson Hospice-East in Las Vegas, will be held at 6 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary-Jones in Las Vegas.

Ed was born Feb. 27, 1925, to Walter and Helene (Kelly) Bedson in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a resident of southern Nevada since 1988.

He served in the U.S. Nay during World War II. He was later a building contractor in New Port Richey, Fla., for 28 years before moving to Las Vegas in 1988.

His wife Susan Bedson of Las Vegas; sons James E. Bedson and Dean E. Bedson, both of Las Vegas; daughters Brooke S. Bedson of Las Vegas and Rita A. Goluba of Trinity, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren survive him.

Donations in lieu of lowers may be made to charities of choice.

Interment will take place at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens in New Port Richey, Fla. (09/30/06)

Howard Myers

No services will be held for Howard R. Myers, 79, who passed away Sept. 19, 2006, at Evergreen Nursing Home.

He was born in 1927 in Galion, Ohio. He was a two-year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Army. He later retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

His wife Martha of Pahrump; stepchildren Marlene Zinda of Pahrump, Janet White of Ohio and Bonnie Kyle of Las Vegas; brother Leo Myers of Hidden Lakes, Ohio; and sister Dorothy Beaulieu of Ohio survive him.

Desert Memorial Cremation handled the arrangements. Interment will take place at Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City. (09/19/06)

Doris Harris

Private services will be held for Doris J. Harris, 81, who passed away Sept. 14, 2006 at Harbor House Hospice in Las Vegas.

She was born April 24, 1925, in Louisville, Ky. She was a 15-year resident of Pahrump.

Doris spent more than 40 years of her adult life living in California with her family. She was the office manager at her husband's private psychotherapy practice.

After retiring from their professional careers, they spent several years traveling the world and the United States, eventually settling in Pahrump, where they enjoyed the opportunities the area offered. Her husband Ralphe preceded her in death May 25, 2001.

She was deeply loved and is greatly missed by her family.

Her daughter Peggy R. Harris of California; grandson Berkeley Harris Venn of California; son-in-law Bruce Fitzmaurice of California; sister Nella Mae Mitchell of Florida; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews survive her.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Harbor House Hospice in Las Vegas. (09/14/06)

Arlee Joe Booher
Services were held for Arlee Joe Booher, 77, who passed away Sept. 23, 2006, in Las Vegas.

He was born July 24, 1929, in Texas. He was a 13-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Indian Springs.

He worked as a mechanic and was employed by Reynolds Electric Engineering Co.

His wife Sandra Booher of Pahrump; son Fred Booher of Las Vegas; brothers Loy "Pete" Booher and his wife Dianne of Indian Springs and Wilburn "Tex" Booher of Las Vegas; sister Elizabeth Daugherty of Walters, Okla.; stepdaughters Nancy Clark and Lisa Bilyeu, both of Las Vegas, Karen Walton of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kandi Essman of Lenore, Idaho; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephew survive him.

His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (09/23/06)

Marie Frasca
Services for Marie D. Frasca, who passed away Oct. 9 in Las Vegas, will be held at noon Friday at the Pahrump Church of Christ on Lola Lane.

Her brothers Vincent, Dennis and John Panichi; granddaughter Shelby Di Toto; and Dennis and Ashley Di Toto survive her.

Her partner Anthony Di Toto preceded her in death.

Interment will take place at Pine Lawn cemetery in Long Island, N.Y. (10/09/06)

Kenneth Collins

Services were held Aug. 25, 2006, for Kenneth Charles Collins, 64, who passed away Aug. 21, 2006 at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery.

He was born Oct. 24, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was a 22-year resident of Pahrump.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam and retired as a master sergeant.

His wife Diana Collins of Pahrump, daughter Jennifer Steere of Sun City, Ariz., and son Kenneth C. Collins Jr., of Pahrump survive him.

Palm Mortuary-Jones, 1600 S. Jones in Las Vegas, handled the arrangements. (08/21/06)

Kathryn Ottoson

Private services will be held for Kathryn Ottoson, 60, who passed away Aug. 25 in Pahrump.

She was born Aug. 27, 1945.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW of Pahrump.

Her husband Bob Ottoson, daughter Debbie Percival and grandson John Percival survive her.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Nathan Adelson Hospice or to a charity of one's choice.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (08/25/06)

Allan Gosnell

Services for Allan Gosnell, 73, who passed away Aug. 28, 2006, in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pahrump Family Mortuary and Grandview cemetery.

He was born Nov. 23, 1932 in Chicago, Ill. He was a nine-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1952. He worked as an engineer and was employed by Harrah's. He retired in 1996.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers No. 501.

His wife Joann of Pahrump; son Richard of Las Vegas; daughter Mary Jo of Las Vegas; brother Richard of Altoona, Wis.; eight granchildren; and five great grandchildren survive him. (08/28/06)

William Barnak

William "Barney" Barnak, 79, passed away Sept. 22, 2007 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas.

Barney was born in Nanticoke, Pa. and graduated from Wilsonboro High School.

In 1946, at the age of 18, he joined the Army and served three tours of duty in Japan, Korea and Vietnam before retiring at Fort Lewis, Wash. in 1967.

He went on to another career as a longshoremen and retired as a Checker from local 52, Seattle in 1992.

Barney and his wife, Karen, moved to a small farm in Minn. in 1995. They raised Emus, and operated a meat market. He still found time for his woodworking and old tractor restoration.

In 2000, they discovered Pahrump and moved from Minn. to make Nevada their permanent home.

Barney was very outgoing and made lifelong friends wherever he lived. He even learned to play bingo after years of resistance and made many friends in the bingo halls.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Barney is survived by his wife Karen; sons Mark, Scott, Michael, Gary and Gene; daughters Pamela and Joanne, their families and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Anita.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 28 at the Lee Funeral Home Chapel. (09/22/07)
