Jackie High

Jackie Lee High, 56, passed away Oct. 16, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 24, 1951 in Woodriver, Ill., and was an eleven year resident of Pahrump, having come from New Mexico.

He was employed as a prison guard and retired in 1985. He held memberships with the VFW, the DAV, the Moose, the Single Action Shooter Society, was of the Lutheran faith and a member of Saved by Grace Lutheran Church.

High was educated in Criminal Justice and Pre-law at Illinois Central College and served in the U.S. Navy, spending seven years in Vietnam during wartime.

His wife Arleen High of Pahrump; sons Richard Boehm of Florida, James Dowling of Michigan and Marc High of Florida; daughters Nancy (Paul) Meyer of Las Vegas, Janice (Greg) Best of Colorado, Karelle (John) Baremore and Celine Risen both of Illinois and Angela High of Pahrump; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The viewing was be from 2-4 p.m., Oct. 23 at Pahrump Family Mortuary and the service will be at noon, Oct. 24 at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice or the family. (10/16/07)

David Medley

David Lee Medley. 68, passed away Sept. 25, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 12, 1939 in Missouri and was a four year resident of Pahrump, having come from Versailles, Mo.

Medley was a surveyor and served as a Marine in the armed forces during wartime.

His sons David and Carl of Vista, Calif. and Bobby of Encinitas, Calif.; daughter Barbara Tharp of Vista, Calif.; sisters Marian Kilgore of Independence, Mo. and Mona Harris of Chillicothe, Ohio and eight grandchildren survive him.

There was a private family service. (09/25/07)

Louise Reisdorf

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Louise Reisdorf, on Sept. 30, 2007, at the incredibly young age of 96.

She was born to Alexander and Fannie Elias on Nov. 25, 1910 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the third of four children. She met and married her only love, Anthony (Tony) Reisdorf in Brooklyn on April 25, 1932.

She resided in New York until her move to Simi Valley, Calif. in 1961, where she lived until moving to Pahrump in 1998. She spent her time between Pahrump and Simi Valley.

She loved to crochet afghans and gave them away to family and friends and even to strangers that crossed her path.

She was a lover of her pets and everyone else's pets and treated them lovingly and was completely devoted to them.

Her favorite TV shows were Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, which she seldom missed watching and her next favorite thing was pulling the handles on the slot machines in Vegas and Pahrump.

She attended Centerpoint Church until she could no longer go.

Her daughters Dorothy (John) McHugh, Lorraine (Freddie) De Santis (whom she called "her angel"); daughter-in-law Joyce Reisdorf; grandchildren Dawn Marie (Bob) Chirigotis, Christopher (Sheila) Cilibrasi, Robyn (Kevin) Hall, Daryn (Agim) Rexhepi, Lynn (Scott) Holt, and Lisa Reisdorf; nine great-grandchildren Brenda, Jessica, Laurel, Megan, Nicky, Ashley, Cameron, Tyler and Leah; many friends and neighbors, both here and in Simi Valley including her neighbor Bert, survive her.

Her devoted and loving husband Anthony (Tony); son Phillip; granddaughter Roxanne Reisdorf and a great-granddaughter Kathleen Holt preceded her in death.

She lived a full, rich and happy life surrounded by her loving family.

Graveside funeral services will be held in Simi Valley, Calif. at Assumption cemetery assisted by the Rose Family Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Centerpoint Church and/or a local senior aging organization. (09/30/07)

Doris Morani

Services for Doris Morani, 91, who passed away Sept. 30, 2007 in Pahrump, will be held at noon on Oct 5. at Southern Nevada Veterans cemetery.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Wakita, Okla. and was of the Catholic faith.

She lived in Pahrump for seven and a half years, moving here from Las Vegas.

Her daughter Pauline Goss of Pahrump; granddaughters Tammy Wooldridge and Misty Amador of Las Vegas; grandsons Richard McSwain of Las Vegas and Daniel McSwain of Pahrump; great-granddaughter Angelique Wooldridge of Honolulu, Hawaii; great-grandsons Alex Wooldridge and James Gardiner of Las Vegas and Danny McSwain of Pahrump survive her.

Her sister Willis Moore of Waco, Texas preceded her in death.

Sandra Fullbright

Sandra Carol Fullbright, 63, passed away Oct. 3, 2007 in Las Vegas.

She was born June 17, 1944 in Nebraska.

Fullbright was a resident of Pahrump since 1975, worked as a bookkeeper and was of the Protestant faith.

Daughters Bobbie (Mike) Sullivan, Sandie Masoner and Cylene (Brad) Ward and granchildren Jeff, Mitch, Nicole and Haley survive her.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m., Oct. 5 at the Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice in Pahrump. (10/03/07)

Denny Sheldon

Denny R. Sheldon, 79, passed away Sept. 24, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born June 17, 1928 in Wyoming and lived in Pahrump for 20 years, having come from Las Vegas.

Sheldon reitred in 1982. He held Mason membership, served in the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and was of the Baptist faith.

His wife and two grandchildren survive him.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7 in the VFW hall on Homestead Road. (09/24/07)

Douglas Sunderland

Douglas Leroy Sunderland 52, passed away at home on Sept. 22, 2007.

He was born July, 15, 1956 in Inglewood, Colo. and was a resident of Pahrump for four years.

He was a construction worker.

His nieces Alexa, Kathleen, Chelsea, Brooke, Christina and Abigail; nephew Daniel; brother Robert Eugene (Debra) Lorenz Sunderland and sister Carolyn Ann Baines Davis survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernie and Billie (F. L.) Sunderland

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28 at Oasis Outreach, 1061 E. Second Street, #A. (09/22/07)

Peter Provost

Peter Provost, 69, passed away Sept. 22, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Louisiana and was a 14 year resident of Pahrump, having come from Reno.

Provost was a member of the VFW, a Navy veteran and of the Protestant faith. He was the manager of the bowling alley.

His daughters Lora Provost of Arizona and Carol Hernandez of California; mother Virginia Sweeney of Pahrump; step-father George Sweeney; brother Tom Provost of New Mexico; step-sister Patricia Sweeney of Oregon and three grandchildren survive him.

The burial will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 at Southern Nevada Veteran Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the family. (09/22/07)

James L. Jones

James "Jonesy" Jones, 77, passed away at home on Sept. 28, 2007.

He was born Sept. 22, 1930 in Prescott, Ariz. and was a resident of Pahrump since 1985.

In 1950, he joined the Navy and served in Korea, followed by an assignment in Japan.

After leaving the Navy, he worked in the Kennicott copper mine. He moved his family to Nevada in 1967 and worked at the Nevada Test Site as an operating engineer until his retirement in 1992.

He was a gifted mechanic, master welder and metal worker, and could build unique equipment from basic stock materials. After his retirement, he developed a love for woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte and cat Zuka; daughters Connie (Steve) Bruso, Cathy (Jeff) Mineck and Denise (Terry) Choyce; brother Clarence; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dennis. (09/28/07)

Thomas White

Thomas Taylor White, 69, passed away Sept. 30, 2007.

He was born Dec. 9, 1937 in Rochester, Mass., and moved to Pahrump two years ago, having come from Las Vegas. He moved from California to Nevada in 1965.

White was a carpenter who built homes. He enjoyed working in his shop, gardening, working with his hands and was a great craftsman. He also enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with those who visited his shop.

His wife Margie, son Donald; daughters Stacy White and Lisa Gepford; brothers Donald R. White and Clinton White; sisters Irene Pasco, June Willhoite and Dolly Bratton, 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by sons Jeff White and Blane White; brother Clifford White, Jr. and sister Lorraine Day.

No services are planned for Pahrump. (09/30/07)
