David Gittleman

David Gittleman, 47, of Pahrump, passed away Nov. 21, 2007.

He was born July 21, 1960 in Philadelphia, Pa. and was a resident of Pahrump for 7 years, having come from New Jersey.

Gittleman was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a firefighter, retired from Ringwood, N.J.

His daughters Alisha L. Watson of Pahrump and Tiffany Gittleman of Ringwood, N.J. and parents Edith and Stanley Gittleman of West Covina, Calif. survive him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Stacie Lynn Gittleman.

Services will be held at 12 noon, Nov. 30, Desert View Memorial Park in Victorville, Calif. (11/21/07)

William Caddoo

William Caddoo, 75, passed away Nov. 20, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born Sept. 21, 1932 in Jersey City, N.J. and was a resident of Pahrump for two years.

Caddoo was an airline pilot/Captain for Eastern Airlines and a member of the Quiet Birdmen, and the N.R.A.

He had a 14 year education, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Methodist faith.

His wife Barbara Caddoo; son Thomas Caddoo; daughter Debra Trussell and two grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Philllips and Thomas Caddoo and son Billy Caddoo.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. (11/20/07)

Alice Marie Ganger

Alice Marie Ganger, 71, passed away Nov. 16, 2007 at home in Pahrump.

She was born Oct. 9, 1936 in Santa Ana, Calif. and was a 19 year resident of Pahrump, having come from Long Beach, Calif.

She worked as a secretary for Leer Jet and retired in 1965.

Her daughters Rebecca McCabe of Arbuckle, Calif., Kathleen Phillips of Aberdeen, M.D. and Sue Ablog of Lodi, Calif.; son Thomas C. Ganger of New Mexico; sister-in-law Clarice Ganger of Pahrump; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; caregiver and good friend Edward and Anita Philo of Clio, Mich. and her many friends at Terribles Town bingo survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles M. Ganger; long-time companion Edward Duffied; her parents, two sons and two grandsons.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (11/16/07)

Iva E. "Nora" Stevens

Iva E. "Nora" Stevens, 71, beloved wife, mother and dear friend, lost her battle with cancer Nov. 7, 2007.

Nora was born April 12, 1936 in Eugene, Ore. and was a 39 year resident of Nevada, having also spent a few years in Shoshone and Chicago Valley, Calif.

Nora worked for Death Valley Unified School District for 20 years and owned several businesses in the Pahrump Valley including a ceramic shop and a Mr. Chicken restaurant.

Nora shared her love of Jesus Christ with all, and all who were blessed by her friendship will keep these precious memories close to our hearts and miss her dearly.

Nora, so willing to give of herself, fostered ten children and treated everyone with love and compassion.

Her oil paintings, engraved and painted ostrich eggs and ceramic figurines will be a lasting reminder of her artistic talents.

Nora is survived by Charles, loving husband of 31 years and daughter, Kelly Umphries-Prince. (11/07/07)

Paul Vance

Paul Vance, 78, passed away Nov. 17, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born May 7, 1929 in Bessemer, Pa., and was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, having come from Baker, La.

Paul was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and worked as a machinist for White Consolidated, retiring in 1979. He was a Air Force veteran and served at Nellis AFB during the Korean War.

His wife Vicki Vance of Pahrump; sons Ronald Alan (Kathy) Vance of Wall, N.J. and Paul Vance of Pahrump; brother Steve Vinansky of New Kensington, Pa. and sister Margaret Cazier of Pahrump survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Nov. 24 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. (11/17/07)

Florenz "Bart" Callow

Florenz "Bart" Callow, 81, entered eternal life with the Lord, Nov. 10, 2007 at the VN Senior Care in Pahrump.

He was born Feb. 17, 1926 in Waukesha, Wis. and was an eleven year resident of Pahrump, having moved from Wisconsin.

Bart was an electrical mechanic and worked for Automatic Welding and Maison Engineering, traveling to perform maintenance on Caterpillar tractors. He retired in 1984, moved to Pahrump in 1997 and learned to enjoy the desert.

A veteran, he served in the Air Force during World War II and was discharged Nov. 27, 1945.

Bart was a member of the Thrivent Chapter of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and the Pahrump Valley Garden Club.

His beloved wife of 55 years, Geraldine L. Callow (Doman); daughters Lynn C. (Stephen) McNutt of Vancouver British Columbia, Can., and Lori J. (Douglas) Bale of Waukesha, Wisc.; sister Lois Callow of Waukesha, Wis.; Brother Lewis Callow of Waukesha, Wisc. and cousin Belva Jaquet (Gerald) Hodge of Johnson City, Tenn. survive him.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Nov. 29, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

Bart's family appreciates the care he received from the VN Senior Care staff and the support from Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Hazel "Granny" Wagenhoffer

Hazel Evelyn Wagenhoffer, 85, passed away peacefully Nov. 12, 2007 at home in Pahrump.

She was born July 19, 1922 in Emerald, Wis. and lived with her daughter's family in Pahrump for five years.

Hazel had a full life, living through the Great Depression, hitchhiking from Wisconsin to Seattle, Wash., with one of her older brothers, and joining the Marine Corps in 1943.

She met her husband, Edward, at Camp Pendleton and they were married Christmas Eve, 1944.

In late 1950, she helped form the Santee County Water District.

Moving to Las Vegas in 1963, she worked in various fields and retired as an auditor for the Stardust in 1992.

As a member of the Women's Marine Association, she continued to stay busy and enjoyed having time with her family.

Her daughter Laura (Don) Kenzevich; grandsons Steven Kenzevich, Jason (Shannon) Kenzevich, and Danny Thomas; granddaughter Kory (Eric) Montague; great-grandchildren Jakob, Mason and Travis Kenzevich, Darien Montague; many nieces and nephews and her best friend, Peek-a-Boo, the family cat survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; one sister and five brothers. (11/12/07)

Muriel Spears

Muriel Elnora Newby Spears, 85, of Pahrump, passed away Nov. 18, 2007.

She was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Graham, Texas. Muriel moved to Nevada in 1951. She lived in the Amargosa Valley for 36 years before moving to Pahrump and attended church at Choice Hills Baptist Church. Muriel was a loving wife and mother.

She survived by her daughters Genery (Ted) Fanning and Pat Pierri; sons James (Clara) Spears and Frank (Susan) Spears; Eight grandchildren: Mark and David Fanning, Diana Hubbard, Jamie Velasquez, Sara Spears, Melody Rivera and Dylan Spears. She had 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Juanita Nix and Nina (Verdian) Fitzner, sister-in-law Irene Newby, brother James O.B. Newby and brothers-in-law Jack B. Sills, Charles W. (Eleanor) Spears and James C. (Joe Ann) Spears and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ions C. "Oakie" Spears; brother Louis Newby and sisters Beatrice DeValera and Estalene Sills.

Funeral Service will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21 at Choice Hills Baptist Church and Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 21 at Amargosa Valley Memorial cemetery in Amargosa Valley.

Mae A. Ozanich

Mae A. Ozanich. 90, passed away Nov. 9, 2007 in Pahrump.

She was born Nov. 10, 1916 in Michigan and was a three-year resident of Pahrump, having come from Houghton, Mich. in 2004 to be with her son, Bruce and his wife. Both have since passed away.

She was employed by Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for 30 years in corporate services. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her sister Laura Kenzevich of Franklin, Wis.; many nieces and nephews who loved her and will dearly miss her; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild survive her.

Graveside services will be held in the summer of 2008 at South Range cemetery in Michigan. (11/09/07)

Terry Boucher

Services for Terry "Tony" Boucher, 59, who passed away Oct. 19, 2007 in Las Vegas will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 11 at Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born June 19, 1948 in Lapeer, Mich. and was a 26 year resident of Pahrump.

His occupation was as an iron worker and he served for four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a loving husband, father and grandpa.

His wife Helen of 16 years; daughters Ruth (Erich) Schuerger and Bridget Boucher; son Orvin Orebaugh, sister Sherri Wisneski; seven grandchildren and many friends survive him.

His son Sean Boucher; brother George Boucher and his mom and dad preceded him in death.

Lee Funeral Home, located at 720 S. Buol Lane handled the arrangements. (10/19/07)
