Edward Frehner

Services for Edward A. Frehner, 82, who died May 17, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the LDS Church on Wilson Road.

He was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Saint Thomas, Nev. He lived in Pahrump since 1945.

He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the LDS Church.

His wife of seven years, Phyllis Frehner; children Edward Terry Frehner, Gregory Frehner, Janelle Frehner Johnson, Beirl and Ronda DeVisser, Charlie, Phillip and Rhonda Langager and Tisha Burton; grandchildren Sarah Ann Frehner Morley, James "Jimmy" Edward Frehner, Edward Frehner, Erica Frehner Widmier, Jacob Frehner and Mathew Phillip Frye; and eight great- grandchildren survive him.

His son Chris Frehner and grandson Christopher Terry Frehner preceded him in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Burial will take place in Logandale. Lee Funeral Home & Creamation Service handled the arrangements. (05/17/07)

Frederick Schmitt

A memorial service for Frederick "Fred the Clown" Schmitt, a highly decorated World War II veteran and German POW, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Veteran's Memorial at Chief Tecopa cemetery. All are welcome to attend.

Michael Botts

A private memorial service will be held for Michael L. Botts, 55, who died May 21, 2007, in Pahrump.

He was born April 7, 1952, in Indiana. He was a one-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army and was later a cook at Big Kitchen Buffet at Bally's in Las Vegas.

The family says, "One great dad, the best you can ask for. One great husband the only one for our mother. The greatest person for our family."

His wife Brenda Botts; daughters Destiny (Sergio) Garcia, Reanna Botts and Corey Fitzpatrick; son Mike Tanner; grandchildren Angelica, Natalie and Lily Garcia, Cloe Doudy, Cody Brandon, Aspen Tanner, Alyssa and Ronnie J. Fitzpatrick, and one on the way survive him.

Owen Good

Owen "Froggie" M. Good, 79, husband of Celia Lemmink, died May 17, 2007, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.

Froggie will be remembered by family and friends. (05/17/07)

Cheryl Johnson

Services for Cheryl Ann Johnson, 55, who died May 19, 2007, at home after a long battle with cancer, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday (viewing 1-3 p.m.) at Desert Memorial in Las Vegas.

She was born March 8, 1952, in Hudson, N.Y. She was a one-and-a-half-year resident of Pahrump.

Her husband Jimmy of Pahrump; children Chance, 18, and Megan, 16, both of Pahrump; mother Helen Fraleigh, brothers Donald, Michael, Robin, Jamie and Jay; and sisters Michelle, Tammy and Holly survive her.

Her father James H. Fraleigh preceded her in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Local No. 135 College Fund. (05/19/07)

Ralph Williams

Ralph E. Williams, M.D., 82, of Pahrump, died Sunday, May 13, 2007, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Oakland, Calif.

He was a retired orthopaedic surgeon. He served in the Army during World War II and also served in the Navy from 1949 to 1952.

His wife of 21 years Connie; daughters Laura Wilson, Lynda McAdams and Mary Rolland; son Ralph Martin; adopted sons Larry and Doug; stepchildren Kevin and Dennis Daily, Roni Seaman, Kathy Padelford and Kim Graham; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister Faye Moody; two nephews and one niece survive him.

His parents and stepdaughter Jamie Hinzman preceded him in death.

Ralph was a wonderful, caring man and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His last days were made bearable by the care of Nathan Adelson Hospice and the wonderful visits from Pastor Paul Jordan and by his personal physician Dr. Damaj. Donations in his name may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Per his last wishes, no services are planned. Interment will take place at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

Mary Floyd

A private memorial service for Mary E. Floyd, 87, who died May 10, 2007, in Pahrump, was held Monday, May 13 at the home of Barbara Chavayda.

She was born March 30, 1920, in Ohio. Mary was a 28-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Irvine, Calif.

She was a nurse's aide and was a member of Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church.

Her daughters Barbara Chavayda of Pahrump and Kathryne Cantrill of Coos Bay, Ore.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild survive her.

Ralph Francis

Ralph Francis, 69, died in Tulsa, Okla., May 12, 2007, after a battle with acute leukemia.

Ralph was born Oct. 20, 1937, in Gunnison, Colo., and was raised in Gunnison, where his life started in the cattle business with his parents, L.W. "Billy" and Geraldine Francis.

As an adult, he worked in the logging and trucking industries, both of which he enjoyed throughout his life, along with being one of the finest damn mechanics who ever lived.

He has lived and made lasting friends in Salida, Colo., Pahrump and Cushing, Okla. His love of life and his joyful ways will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his older brother Stanley (Mary) Francis of Howard, Colo.; his sons Dennis (Pam) Francis of Cushing and David (Sandy) Francis of Keota, Okla.; his daughters, Tracy (Kelly) Kerby of Acton, Calif., and Tamsen Francis of Las Vegas; grandchildren Kimberly and Darren Francis of Cushing; and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service in celebration of this incredible man will be held in Tulsa June 23, 2007. All are welcome, but please RSVP with the family at 918-225-6298.

The family requests donations be made to a charity of choice in lieu of gifts or flowers.

Robert Dunshee

A memorial service for Robert Stuart Dunshee Sr., 81, who died May 12, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.

He was born July 20, 1925, in Stanberry, Mo. He was a seven-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was an electronic Engineer. He was also a land and housing developer in Pahrump and an avid gardener.

His wife Lamping Dunshee of Pahrump; sons Robert S. Dunshee Jr., of Allen, Texas, James David Dunshee of Riverside, Calif., and Daniel Carl Dunshee of Orange, Calif.; brother John Dunshee of Overland Park, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren survive him.

Emma Amstutz

Services for Amma Elizabeth Amstutz, 91, who died May 5, 2007, in Las Vegas, will be held at noon today (viewing at 11 a.m.) at First Southern Baptist Church 741 E. Fehrs Way (Highway 160 near Simkins).

She was born May 9, 1915, in West Virginia. She was a 25-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.

When Emma was younger, she did some modeling. She was later a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.

Her husband Eugene Amstutz; son Robert Cook; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews survive her.

Interment will take place at Grandview cemetery on Vicki Ann Road. Lee Funeral Home & Cremation Service handled the arrangements. (05/05/07)

Charles House

Services for Charles F. House Jr., 94, who died April 25, 2007, in Palo Alto, Calif., will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

He was born Jan. 1, 1913, in Memphis, Tenn. He was a seven-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Sunnyvale, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a truck driver. He retired in 1977.

His daughters Diana Kirk of Sunnyvale and Charlotte Booth of Las Vegas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren survive him.

His wife preceded him in death. (04/25/07)

Robin Shepherd

Services for Robin Shepherd, 53, who died April 28, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

She was born Dec. 26, 1953, in Michigan. She was an eight-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Michigan.

She was a dealer in a casino and a member of the Moose Lodge.

Her husband Floyd Stanley Shepherd of Pahrump; sons Dustin Varnell and Jerry Shepherd, both of Pahrump; daughter Genesis Shepherd of Pahrump; stepdaughters Tracy Marr and Loretta Avery, both of Michigan; mother Frances Hesketh of Pahrump; stepfather Kenneth Hesketh of Pahrump; sisters Deborah Horton of California and Pauline Haynes of Pahrump; stepsister Dawn Marie Kaufman of Montana; and brother Donald Varnell Jr., of Pahrump survive her.
