Joshua Earl Jakeman

A light went out on the afternoon of Feb. 11, 2002. A brilliant light that was born Jan. 2, 1983, in Evanston, Wyo., and warmed the lives of so many for 19 wonderful years. But the world only seems a little darker until you remember that twinkle in his eye, his beautiful smile, his free spirit and his love for all those close to him and then you can't help but smile and feel that light on your face.

He attended Elko high school through his senior year and received his GED in April 2001.

Josh was a free spirit who enjoyed everything outdoors. From the time he was a little boy he was involved with motorcycles, skiing, wake-boarding, football, soccer, baseball, wrestling, camping, boating and exploring. He played the saxophone and the tuba and was part of the award-winning Band of Indians. He had a deep love for life that he showed in his ability to make friends easily, make everyone that knew him smile and his ability to bring about a laugh when you thought that all there was to do was cry.

Josh has gone on to become the guardian angel for so many people including his loving parents Jay and Kris Jakeman; Amber who was not only his sister but also his friend; grandparents Art and Pennie Harris, Bud and Jan Jakeman; great-grandmother Virginia Jakeman; uncles and aunts Jim and Rosa Overy, Theresa Moore, Quinn and Carlene Fullmer; cousins Jennifer and Jeremy Lowe, Alex Torres and Suzanne Overy, Eli and Daniel Robbins, Shalynn and Trent Fullmer; many friends, but his closest, Robert, Jeremiah, Taylor and Tana. He was welcomed on the other side with open arms by his grandmother, Karolyn Overy; grandfather Larry Overy; great aunt Faye Smith; aunt Sharon Jakeman and many others who will watch over him until we can all see him again.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Grace Baptist Church, 3030 N. Fifth Street, Elko. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Church. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. (MST) in Evanston Wyo., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, where Josh will be laid to rest in the place where he was most at home.
