Sandra Lee Gray

Sandra Lee Gray, 46, passed away Nov. 19, 2007 in Panamint Springs, Calif.

She was a former truck driver.

Her father Buck Sloan of Mississippi; sons Zane Gray of Nevada, Robert Sloan and Daniel Sloan, both of Mississippi; brothers Jim Sloan of Georgia and Tommy Sloan of Mississippi and sisters Lynda Maxcey of Mississippi, Billie Jo Maxcey of Alabama, Jessie Mozingo of Alabama and Charlie-Ann Campbell of Mississippi survive her.

She was preceded in death by her mother Roberta Sloan McDonald Maxcey and her brother Steven Sloan.

Kenneth Cecil West

Kenneth Cecil West, 78, passed away Dec. 3, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born Sept. 21, 1929 in Missouri and was a 15-year resident of Pahrump, having come from Thousand Oakes, Calif.

Kenneth was a salesman for the automotive industry. He started the first computer classes in Pahrump, and taught them out of his home. He loved teaching seniors how to use a personal computer.

His son Kenneth (Tracy) West of Arizona; daughters Kandie Henson of Missouri, Kellie (Art) Ornelas of California and Kerrie (Chris) Cochran of Oregon and eleven grandchildren survive him.

No services are planned in Pahrump. (12/03/07)

Elizabeth Jendrowski

Elizabeth (Betty) Jendrowski, 66, passed away August 21, 2007 from complications of illnesses suffered during the last year.

A retired nurse, Betty was a Michigan native, born May 2, 1941 in Detroit.

Betty resided in Pahrump for 6 years with her beloved husband of 46 years, Paul.

Daughters, Sharon Gorny and son-in law Tom Gorny of Golden Valley, Ariz.; and Sandra McCrossen of Las Vegas survive her.

Betty enjoyed playing bingo and bunco with her Red Hat Society sisters, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun of Pahrump."

Betty will be deeply missed by many family and friends from Pahrump and throughout Michigan.

There will a special intention Mass for Betty at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 25.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson Street, Las Vegas, NV 89119. (08/21/07)

Kenneth Scheeler

Kenneth George Scheeler, 70, of Pahrump, passed away August 28, 2007 in Las Vegas.

He was born April 12, 1937 in Milwaukee, Wis. and was a resident of Pahrump for 7 years, having come from Moreeno Valley, Calif.

Scheeler , a mechanic, retired from J & J Automotive in 2000.

He served in the US Air force for four years and was a member of St. Rita Church in West Allis, Wis.

His wife, Judith Scheeler; daughters, Debby (Danny) Sinai of Lancaster, Calif. and Cheryl Scheeler of Carson, Calif.; son, Kenny Scheeler Jr. of Pahrump; granddaughter, Nicole Sinai of Hollywood, Calif.; grandsons, Jason and Matt Leis of Carson, Calif. and Kevin Scheeler of Tucson, Ariz.; and great-grandaughter, Kayley of Carson, Calif. survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and several neices and nephews. (08/28/07)

John Falcone

John "Big John" Falcone, 67, passed away in Las Vegas, August 24, 2007.

He was born August 13, 1940 in San Jose, Calif. and lived in Pahrump for 37 years, having moved from Palmdale, Calif.

He served in the US Navy in Vietnam and was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise. He worked as a self-employed mechanic after leaving the service.

His wife, Nancy; daughters, Teresa Falcone, Danielle Falcone, and Francesca Falcone; son, John Falcone; brothers, Tony Falcone and Ralph Falcone; and 2 grandchildren; all of Pahrump, survive him.

Memorial services will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 31 at the Bob Rudd Community Center.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to the immediate family. (08/24/07)

William Pedro

William Charles Pedro, 69, of Pahrump passed away August 26, 2007.

He was born Nov. 2, 1937 in Benton, Calif. and was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, having moved from Iowa.

Pedro was an owner/operator mechanic and worked all his life. He was a member of the VFW, the Elks and the Moose and as a veteran of the Army, had served during wartime from 1956 to 1959.

Daughters, Pam (Greg) of Northglen, Colo. and Sandy (Robert) of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; sons, Willy (Sandy) of Sheldon, Iowa, Jim (Jackie) of California, Mo. and Kevin of El Dorado Springs, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and his children's mom.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Aug. 31 at the Bob Rudd Community Center.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Diabetes Foundation. (08/26/07)

Rose Newton

Rose E. Newton, 87, died August 22, 2007.

She was born in New Haven, Conn. in 1920, and was a 30 year resident of Pahrump.

She was the devoted mother of Geraldine E. Newton-Blondin of Pahrump and Lilly of Sturbridge, Mass. and grandmother to Jacqualine Grenier also of Pahrump.

Rose was well known since 1982, for her one-of-a-kind wooden boxes made through Roegere Crafts.

Friends and family are invited to attend services at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30 at Shepherd of the Valley in the Bible study building, 650 S. Blagg Road. Pastor Paul will officiate.

In lieu of flowers donations should be sent to Geraldine E. Newton-Blondin, 3151 S. Z Street, Pahrump, NV 89048. (08/22/07)

Charles A. Hodel

Charles A. Hodel, a resident of Pahrump for the last several years, passed away August 8, 2007 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

During his lifetime he worked for Andres French restaurant in Las Vegas as head chef. In New York, he was instrumental in establishing the kitchen at the Fountain Blue Hotel.

This kind, wonderful, generous man has left a big void in the lives of his friends.

Two daughters, four grandchildren and the two ladies who kept in touch throughout his illness, Ann Hudson and Dora Gastelum.

Neil Renville

Neil R. Renville, 84, passed away August 18, 2007, at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Neil was born June 26, 1923 in Pembina N.D., and was the youngest of 13 children.

Neil served in the US Navy 1941 - 1947, and was assigned to the U.S.S. Franks. He retired from Parker Bertea located in Utah in 1988, and moved to Pahrump in 1996.

Neil and his wife, Nancy, belonged to the Pony Express Association and rode in the original reenactment. They were both active in the Utah state sponsored riding club for 20 years.

Neil is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Lew; son, Bob; three stepsons, Tom, and Ron Pratt of Calif. and Hugh McEntyre of Utah; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations should be sent Nathan Adelson Hospice. (08/18/07)

Diann Barnes

Diann Barnes, 50, enveloped the sunset of her life on August 21, 2007. Her sunrise was Feb. 6, 1957 in Denver, Colo.

Diann was a very caring person. She loved her cat, Maynard), Nascar (Dale Jarrett) fishing and going with Jim on the road in the truck.

She will be missed by all family and friends.

Diann is survived by James Barnes; son, Jeff Barnes; sisters, Debbie and Karen and brother, Don.

Her daughter Kateriana was waiting at her sunset.

Memorial services will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations to help cover expenses may be made to Beth Hagerstrand, 4171 W. Hardy Lane, Pahrump, NV 89048. (08/21/07)
