Gerald Blohm

Services were held for Gerald O. Blohm, 87, who died April 4, 2007, at Harmon Medical & Rehabilitation Hospital in Las Vegas.

He was born Dec. 26, 1919, in Columbus, Neb. He has been a Pahrump resident since 1970.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was later a salesman and retired from the landscaping field.

His daughters Debra Blohm of Hutchinson, Kan., and Jackie Hawley of New Strawn, Kan.; stepsons J.D. Wooley of Utah and Ronald Cameron of Arizona; stepdaughters Olene Rush, Bobbie Worley and Katrina Amann, all of California; sisters Adelia Olson and Alice Rupp, both of Nebraska; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild survive him.

His wife Lillian Blohm preceded him in death.

Interment took place at Chief Tecopa cemetery in Pahrump. Palm Mortuary-Jones, 1600 S. Jones, in Las Vegas handled the arrangements. (04/04/07)

David Avona

Services were held for David W. Avona, 55, who died March 20, 2007, at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

He was born Feb. 22, 1952, in Belan, N.M. He was a 35-year resident of southern Nevada.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was later a retail store manager.

His daughter Renee M. Ford of Las Vegas; son Derek W. Avona of Las Vegas; mother Jane R. Jack of Las Vegas; brothers Gary M. Avona of Pahrump and Jim Jack of Gilbert, Ariz.; sister Jeannie Schlup of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; and two grandchildren survive him.

Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.

Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road, in Las Vegas handled the arrangements. (03/20/07)

Laura Davis

Services for Laura Anne Davis, 39, who died March 30, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at noon Saturday at Calvary Church on Mickey and Pahrump Valley Boulevard.

She was born Nov. 15, 1967, in Johannesberg, South Africa. She was a one-and-a-half-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.

She worked as a travel agent. She was also a loving mother and a member of the Calvary Church.

Her father Thomas Davis; mother Joy Davis; daughter Elizabeth Dieters; sister Debbie Lee (Mark) Geuy; and brothers Tomas (Julie) and James (Sonja) Davis survive her.

Lee Funeral Home & Cremation Service handled the arrangements. (03/30/07)

Gertrude Duffy

Services for Gertrude S. Duffy, 91, who died April 9, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Chief Tecopa cemetery.

She was born Oct. 29, 1915, in Atlantic Highlands, N.J. She was a 15-year resident of Pahrump, coming from California.

She was a salesperson and volunteered at the Pahrump Senior Center.

Her son Steven Salay; daughters Esther Kilianski and Pat Pritchard; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren survive her.

Lee Funeral Home & Cremation Service handled the arrangement. (04/09/07)

Ronald Graham

Services for Ronald G. Graham, 74, who died April 7, 2007, in Pahrump, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Grandview cemetery.

He was born June 26, 1932, in Rigby, Idaho. He was an 11-year resident of Nevada.

He served in Korea for 13 months and was later a fabrication manager for Certified Aerospace for 23 years in Shelton, Wash. Ronald and Vanita "LaRue" were married in 1951.

His wife Vanita "LaRue" Graham of Pahrump; daughters Jeannie Ann Little of Montana, Peggy Jo Nielson of Utah and Brenda Joy Dayton of Washington; son Tony Wade Graham of California; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren survive him.

His parents Leonard and Evelyn Graham and one brother preceded him in death.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Pahrump Family Mortuary handled the arrangements. (04/07/07)

David Asher

David Asher, 66, passed away Oct. 9, 2007 in Pahrump.

He was born May 4, 1941 in California and was a resident of Pahrump since 1997, having come from Yamhill, Calif.

Asher was a retired firefighter and served in the Navy. He was a Vietnam veteran and of the Christian faith.

Asher loved doing anything outdoors and was the total outdoorsman.

His wife Georgie Asher; daughters Christy (Troy) Schmechel and Robyn Madreno; sons Greg (Connie) Asher, Don (Katie) Asher and Eddie Asher; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive him.

Services were private. (10/09/07)

Rose Robison

Rose Marie Robison, 94, passed away Oct. 17, 2007 in Pahrump.

She was born Dec. 11, 1912 in Ellsworth, Kan. and was a 10-year resident of Pahrump.

Rose was a registered nurse for 40 years.

Daughter Judy (Rudy) Novotny; brother Dave Kolachny of Floral Park, N.Y.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Raymond.

There will be no services. (10/17/07)

James "Cactus Jack" Creek Sr.

James "Cactus Jack" Creek Sr., 86, passed away Oct. 16, 2007 in Boulder City.

He was born April 20, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo., and was a resident of Indian Springs for 40 years.

He was a retired Marine ranked as a master sergeant and served in World War II and Korea.

Daughter Christine Selinsky of Mcadview, Ariz.; step sons Ronald D. Johnson of Indian Springs and Frank Johnson of San Diego, Calif.; sons Doug Creek of Peyton, Colo. and James J. Creek Jr. of Decorah, Iowa; daughter Kit Phillips of Whittier, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive him.

The grave side service will be at 12 noon, Monday Oct. 22 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Palm Mortuary-Cheyenne, 7400 W. Cheyenne Road in Las Vegas. (10/16/07)

Jimmy Lee Johnson

Jimmy Lee Johnson, 44, passed away Oct. 13, 2007 at his home in Pahrump.

He was born Nov. 20, 1962 in San Diego, Calif. and was a Pahrump resident for two years. He worked as a commercial insulator.

His children Chance and Megan Johnson; mother Geralyn Goodall; brothers Rick and Bob T. Johnson and Jack Teague and sisters Valerie and Karen Johnson survive him.

His wife Sherry and father Bob Johnson preceded him in death.

Services were held Oct. 18 at Desert Memorial.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Local 135 Heat and Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers Scholarship Fund. (10/13/07)

Ann Marie Gay

Ann Marie Gay, 77, passed away Oct. 8, 2007 in Pahrump.

She was born May 9, 1930 in Akron, Ohio and resided in Pahrump for 24 years, having come from Akron, Ohio.

Gay was in sales and of the Methodist faith.

Her daughter Kathy (Sam) Agosta and Vicki (Joe) Shaffer; son Jack (Kedra) Gay; sister Jean Cooper; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren survive her. (10/08/07)

Mary Mickey

Mary Mickey, 92, passed on Oct. 6, 2007.

Mary loved to do ceramics, crochet and share her stories with her many friends and family.

She cherished and loved life and in turn, Mary herself was loved and cherished by all who knew her. (10/06/07)

Belva Joy Sanders

Belva Joy Sanders, 70, passed away Oct. 8, 2007 in Pahrump.

She was born March 2, 1937 in Anna, Ill. and was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, having moved from Burbank, Ill.

She was a homemaker, a member of the 500 Club and ABC Bowling and was of the Methodist faith.

Her husband Edwin Sanders, daughters Rhonda (Joe) Melone of Minooka, Ill. and Debbie (Don) Molk of Bourbonnais, Ill.; sons Michael (Kathy) Sanders of Burbank, Ill., Stanley Sanders of Marseilles, Ill. and Terry (Terri) Sanders of Irvington, Ill.; brother Carlton Campbell of Pahrump; niece Kay (Joe) Martin of Pahrump; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, one brother and her parents.

The service is private.

In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice. (10/08/07)
