Judith Lynn Hoff

Judith Lynn Hoff of Carlin, Nev., died at Northern Nevada Regional Hospital Aug. 16, 2003. She was 58 years old.

She was born Jan. 4, 1945, to Jack and Maria Villegas Kowel in Los Angeles, Calif.

She had lived in Carlin, Nev., for six years, coming from Bullhead City, Ariz. She was a member of the Catholic Church. She grew up in Las Vegas, Nev., and attended schools there.

She is survived by a son, Edward G. Luevano Jr., and daughter, Nicole Judith Donovan, both of Carpinteria, Calif. She is also survived by a sister, Diana Mason, of Henderson, Nev.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation will be at the Sunset Crematory under the direction of Burns Funeral Home in Elko, Nev.

Sherril Rackley

5/11/44 - 8/19/03

Sherril Rackley peacefully passed away, surrounded by family and friends, on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003 at her home in Paradise Valley, Nev., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sherril was born May 11, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif. Her family moved around a lot while she was young living in California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and Nevada.

Sherril graduated from Pershing County High School in Lovelock, Nev., in 1961 and attended Reno Business College. She married her best friend, Jim, on Jan 14, 1961, in Reno, Nev. She then joined Jim in Hawaii where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy.

In 1962 Sherril and Jim moved back to Northern Nevada, living in Wells, Elko, Battle Mountain, Winnemucca and Paradise Valley.

Sherril loved to fish, hunt, go camping and spend time with her grandchildren. She taught her children and grandchildren the value of trust, honesty, tolerance and the love of family.

Sherril is survived by her spouse of 42 years, Jim; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Gina Rackley; grandchildren Jessica and Jimmy; son and daughter-in-law, Smiley and Emmy Rackley; granddaughter, Elizabeth; mother, Myrtle Cox; brothers, John and Phillip Cox; sister, Kelley Cox; brothers- in-law Ira and Larry Rackley; and many aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Ernest Cox.

A memorial service will be held on Sept. 27, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the Firemen's Park in Paradise Valley, Nev. Interment will be at the Paradise Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Sherril's name to the American Cancer Society.

Russell Wayne Ogden

Russell Wayne Ogden, son of Marie and Bruce Fredrickson of Richmond, Utah, and Perry W. and Becky Ogden of Challis, Idaho, left this life Aug. 18, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Wells, Nev. At the time of his death, Russ was working for Frehner Construction in Wells.

Russell was born on June 15, 1968, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver, Colo., and lived in Colorado, Idaho and Richmond, Utah. Russell graduated from Rigby High School in 1986, joined the Army and was stationed in Bamburg Germany. He married Miriam Carol Young on March 25, 1988. They were sealed in the temple in 1991. They were later divorced.

Russell is the dad to Teisha Marie, 13; Robert Todd, 12; Jessica Darlene, 9; and Dalton Wayne, 4, of Rigby, Idaho.

Russell's first love was his family and his brothers and sisters. He had a great love for life and lived it to the fullest. Russell always looked for the funny side of every situation. He was blessed with a great sense of humor and a compassionate spirit. Russell always dreamed of being a "truck driver" and fulfilled this dream by making his living doing just that. When he knew he had a job to do he put his heart and soul into it. His word was his bond. Russ was a great fan of the Denver Bronco's and NASCAR racing.

Besides his children and his parents, Russell is survived by his brothers, Robert J. Hancock Ogden (Anissa), Franklin, Idaho, Perry Clay Ogden (Heidi) of Lewiston, Utah, Luke Hancock Anderson of Richmond, Utah, Darin (Wendy) Fredrickson, Ogden, Utah, and Trinity Hutcherson of Ely, Nev.; sisters, Laresa Fredrickson, Odgen, Utah, Darby Ogden, Idaho, and Ali Hutcherson of Salmon, Idaho; many aunts; uncles; cousins; nieces and nephews. Russell leaves behind many friends and a special friend, Michelle Rodriguez of Wells, Nev.

Russ was preceded in death by his grandparents, Irvin and Verba Hancock; William and Roberta Ogden.

Funeral services will be held at Eckersell's Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho, at noon on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be at the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.

Paul Sherman Wilcox

Paul Sherman Wilcox, 79, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, in Nampa, Idaho.

Paul was born in Cabool, Missouri on April 28th, 1924 to Lloyd and Vera Wilcox. The family moved from Cook, Neb., to Nampa in 1931, where he spent his childhood. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and fought World War II aboard the USS Enterprise, the most decorated ship in United States history.

He married Freeda Suzanne Perron Aug. 15, 1944, and together the couple had six children. Throughout their marriage they lived in many places around Idaho, including Nampa, Ola "the ranch with a thousand acres of land and a million acres of rocks," Sweet, Donnelly and McCall. They also spent time in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Elko, Nev. In recent years, the couple spent the winter months in Bouse, Ariz.

Paul was the owner of a shoe shop in Nampa, and was later employed by the Forest Service in Idaho and Utah. He retired in Elko, Nev. He collected and restored antique or classic shoe machinery and set up individual shoe shops.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother John; his sister, Margaret Grovsener,; and his grandson Stephen Wilcox.

Paul is survived by his wife, Freeda, and their six children, Teri Lynch, April (Tom) Terrell, Marc Wilcox, Neil (Sandra) Wilcox, Vera (Michael) Armuth and Joe (Belia) Wilcox. He is the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren - Stacie (Charles) Newberg, John Paul (Nicole) Terrell, Ana Gifford, Leah (Travis) Maier, Shannon (Yennicette) Wilcox, Kristina Wilcox, Mitchell (Joline) Armuth, Justin Armuth, Kristopher Wilcox, and Jeffery Wilcox. In recent years Paul was blessed with five great grandchildren - Parker and Riley Newberg, Aedan Gifford, Carlton Wilcox and Lillian Armuth. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Nellie Perron; his sisters, Clara Miller of Madras, Ore., and Dorothy Wilcox of Nampa; and his brothers, Clifford Wilcox of Nampa and Jerry Hunter of Napa, Calif.

A private memorial service will be performed for Paul aboard the USS Enterprise at a later date.
