Sarah Jones

Funeral services for Sarah Lee Jones, 56, who died Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, were held Nov. 25 in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Burial will be in the Mountain View cemetery, Oregon City, Ore.

She was born May 27, 1944, in Oil Dale, Calif. She worked as a register clerk at Horizon Market and belonged to the Baptist Church. She came to Pahrump eight years ago from Acton, Calif.

Husband David of Pahrump, son David (Lael) of Oregon, daughters Lora McCormick and Holly Morehouse of Portland, Ore., brothers Clenton Hershey and Pete Hershey of Calif., sisters Beckey Hershey of Texas and Leida Hershey of California, and six grandchildren survive her. (11/21/00)

Philip Wright Jr.

Philip J. Wright Jr., 75, died Nov. 23 in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born April 27, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked for a sheet metal manufacturing company before he retired. He was a 19-year resident of Pahrump and a member of Pahrump Moose Lodge No. 808.

Wife Shirlee of Pahrump, stepdaughters Cathryn Huffine and Thea Crosby of California, Dee Bowman of Wisconsin and Claudia Roundtree of Oklahoma, stepsons John Shableski of Pennsylvania and Paul Shableski of California, brother William Wright of California, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive him. Wilbert Chaput

Memorial services for Wilbert E. Chaput, 80, who died Oct. 14, 2000, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Southern Baptist Church, Pahrump.
He was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Worchester, Mass., the son of Theodore and Georglina Chaput. He was the oldest of five children, Rose, Phyllis, Ernest and Leo.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1940 through 1944 and was wounded on Guadalcanal.

He was a construction specialist and started his civil service career at the Mare Island Naval Shipyards in 1944. He had several overseas assignments, including Vietnam, Italy and Saudi Arabia. He also worked for Hughes Aircraft from 1952 through 1967. He retired in 1979 after his assignment in Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Chaput was innovative in his field and received numerous awards. He also authored and published a book, "Hotel and Motel Maintenance."
A daughter, Connie (Hubert) Bosma of Newbury Park, Calif., granddaughter Karrie (Richard) Lanham of McKinleyville, California.

Doris Evans-Goldsby

Died: October 24, 2000

Services for Doris Elaine Evans-Goldsby, 66, who died Oct. 24, 2000 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel, and burial will be at a later date in New Orleans.

She was born July 9, 1934, in New Orleans. She worked as a registered nurse and belonged to the Church of the Harvest in Pahrump, where she was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and a soloist. She came to Pahrump three years ago from Los Angeles.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Stanley Sr.; her mother, Vera Randle of New Orleans; six children, Gary Hornsby of Illinois, Dominique Goldsby, Stan Goldsby and Kiesha Goldsby, all of Nevada, Derrell Tyson of California and Justin; and two sisters, Karen of New Orleans and Edie Porter of Las Vegas.

Gregory Baugh

Services for Gregory Mark Baugh, 40, who died Oct. 18, 2000 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Trinity Assembly of God Church with Pastor Larry Krake officiating.

He was born Sept. 18, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army, then worked as a truck driver. He was a three-year resident of Pahrump.

Survivors include wife Jean of Pahrump, parents Jack and Jill, five brothers, three sisters, nine nephews, eight nieces and many friends.

Cal McKenna

A celebration of life open house for Uriah "Cal" McKenna, 65, who died Oct. 20, 2000 in Pahrump, was held at the family home on Oct. 24.

He was born Oct. 21, 1934 in Violet Hill, Ontario, Canada. He served in the Canadian Air Force, then worked as a stationary engineer in the ice cream industry. He was past president of the Canadian Legion and was a member of the Moose Lodge, rockhounds and radio-controlled model airplane club. He loved history, gardening, golf and puttering around the house as "Mr. Fix-It."

He will be remembered by family and friends as a gentle, loving man.

He came to Pahrump in 1994 from Ontario, where he lived for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Judy of Pahrump; his father, Elmer (Jean) Dufton of London, Ontario; two sons, Steven and Timothy, both of London; brother David Dufton of Uxbridge, Ontario; three sisters, Helen (Dennis) George of Alberta, Canada, and Sharon (Geoff) Ditcher and Carole (Rick) Dutton, both of London, Ontario, Canada.

Barbara Kelsay
Died July 15, 2000
A memorial service for Barbara A. Kelsay, 64, who died July 15 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. July 29 at Masonic Lodge No. 32, 632 E. Charleston, Las Vegas.

She was born July 14, 1936 in Bisbee, Ariz. She was a homemaker and a 30-year resident of the Pahrump-Las Vegas area. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Nathan III of Las Vegas; five sons, Richard Hoff of Alto, N.M., William Hoff of Santa Rosa, Calif., Kenneth of Okinawa, and Kevin and Kerry, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Elise Wohlschlagel of Garden Grove, Calif.; a brother, Fred Wohlschlagel of Palm Desert, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. William Schiller
Died July 13, 2000
A memorial service for William Eugene Schiller, 70, who died July 13 in Pahrump, was held Monday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary Chapel.

He was born Dec. 16, 1929, in Dickinson, N.D. He worked as a cable television executive before retiring in 1982, and came to Pahrump 11 years ago from Reno.

He is survived by daughters Evangelyn Lee Visser of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Kim Schiller Hume of Wash-ington, D.C.; sons Paul of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Steve of Boulder City; brothers Dennis and Donald, both doctors; sisters Dolores Lythgoe, Katherine Dugan and Marilyn Briggs; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army Helping Hands, P.O. Box 1788, Pahrump 89041. (7/13/00)

Aidan Medici
Born July 14, 2000
Aidan Steven Dean Medici was born at 9:13 p.m. July 14 in a Henderson hospital.

The son of James Medici III and Qiana Stevens of Pahrump, he weighed nine pounds, five ounces and was 21 inches long.

Paternal grandparents are Jim and Kim Medici of Pahrump and Ron and Anne Sims of Ovilla, Texas. Ma-ternal grandparents are John and Diana Stevens of Pahrump.

Aidan joins brother Hunter, 2, at home.

Gladys Kawano
Died September 25, 2000
A memorial service for Gladys Ayako Kawano, 85, who died Sept. 25 in Henderson, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.

She was born Sept. 26, 1914, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She came to Pahrump two years ago from California. She be-longed to the Baptist Church.

Daughter Joan (Maurice) Crim of Pahrump, son Doug-las Kawano of California, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild sur-vive her. (9/25/00)

Betty Woodworth
Died September 25, 2000
No services are planned for Betty Ann Woodworth, 63, who died Sept. 25 in Pahrump.

She was born July 16, 1937, in Pueblo, Colo. She worked as a nurse and belonged to the Baptist Church. She was a one-year resident of Pahrump, coming to Ne-vada from Grand Junction, Colo.

She is survived by her husband, Richard of Pahrump; six sons, Kirt Yates of Grand Junction, Ralph Yates of Newcastle, Wyo., Thomas Yates of Las Vegas, Roger of Los Angeles, Douglas of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Dan of Fruita, Calif.; three daughters, Linda Murphey of Las Vegas, Jenny Nelson of Grand Junction and Sharon Wil-son of LaRue, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. William Smith
Died September 22, 2000
A memorial service for William Jess Smith, 84, who died Sept. 22 at Aurora, Colo., will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Amargosa on Farm Road with Pastor Earl Selbach officiating.

Smith was born Oct. 4, 1915, in Elgin, Ariz. He served in the U.S. Navy, then was a project engineer in the construction industry before retiring. He belonged to the Church of Amargosa and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He came to Amargosa in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Sue of Amargosa; five sons, William of Clearlake, Calif., Lawrence of Denver, John of Moab, Utah, Joe of Grand Junction, Colo., and Michael Davis of Springfield, Mo.; four daughters, Jessie Kenyon and Judith Hembrogh, both of Denver, Debbie Timmons of San Diego and Teresa Stanton of Pahrump; a sister, Betty Morrison of Pinetop, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Gloria Schuster

A memorial service for Gloria Carmen Schuster, 69, who died April 2, 2000 in Las Vegas, will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

A four-year resident of Pahrump, she was born Jan. 7, 1931, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was a bookkeeper and moved to Pahrump from California. She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Madeline Schott of Kentucky and Martha Watts of Pahrump; two sons, John Archuleta of Tennessee and Michael Smoliga of California; sister Susan Krog of California; brother Bradley Schneider of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Gilbert Lindsey

A memorial service for Gilbert "Tex" Lindsey, 68, who died April 3, 2000 at his home in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pahrump Family Mortuary Chapel.

An 11-year resident of Pahrump, he was born March 30, 1932, in Alabama. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He worked in construction and moved to Pahrump from Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Lindsey of Pahrump; three daughters, Reanee Vance of California, Roxanne Sebring of Arizona and Rachel Ritter of Indiana; two brothers, Austin of California and Coy of Alabama; sister Ruby Fletcher of Mississippi; and eight grandchildren.

Helen Millar

Helen Irene Millar, 78, died March 31, 2000 in Pahrump.

She was born May 15, 1921 in Bremerton, Wash. She was a homemaker and a member of Women of the Moose No. 1141. She came to Pahrump in 1979 from Portland, Ore.

She is survived by a daughter, Helen (Pete) Johnson of Pahrump; four sons, Robert (Helen) of Pahrump, John (Adrian) of Gresham, Wash., James (Donna) of Portland and William of Renton, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Robert, and granddaughter Rosanne Johnson preceded her in death.

William Brown
Date of death: May 11, 2000
A memorial service for William Frank Brown, 73, who died May 11 in Pahrump, was held Monday in Pahrump with Pastor Ron Trummell officiating. Burial was as the Chief Tecopa cemetery in Pahrump.

A 12-year resident of Pahrump, he was born Sept. 15, 1926, in Sheridan, Ark. He worked as a turbine operator for Weyerhaeuser Co. before moving to Pahrump in 1988 from Klamath Falls, Ore. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ina of Pahrump; a son, Kenneth of Reno; a daughter, Rita of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Charles Reynolds of Reno; six sisters, Doris Winston and Johnnie House of Sheridan, Judy Maines of Dumas, Ark., Frances Moore and Betty Vailes of Grapevine, Ark., and Rachel Mathews of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister-in-law, June (John) Brewer of Conway, Ark.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Carrol Hayes
Date of death: May 15, 2000
A Celebration of Life memorial for Carrol "C.J." Joyce Hayes, 61, who died May 15 in Pahrump, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Neptune Society Chapel. Rev. Ross Tucker will officiate.

A one-year resident of Pahrump, she was born July 27, 1938, in Erie, Pa. She was a realtor who loved her career and was an avid reader. She moved to Pahrump from Montclair, Calif., in 1999. She was a member of the Protestant Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Pahrump; two daughters, Dorothea (Randy) Edmunds of Anaheim, Calif., and Angelique Wardenaar of Upland, Calif.; a brother, Robert Boettiger of Erie; four sisters, Kathy Boettiger, Marlene Taylor, Joann Popovich and Arlene Smith, all of Erie; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Pahrump office of the Nathan Adelson Hospice.
