Harold Kurts

A memorial service for Harold "Hal" Eugene Kurts, 69, who died May 12 in Pahrump, was held May 15 in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.
He was born Dec. 31, 1930, I Brockton, Ill.
He served in the U.S. Army, then worked as a construction superintendent.
He moved from Henderson to Pahrump six years ago.
He belonged to the Elks Club for 44 years, and was active in the Kaneohe and Kahuluu Church of Christ in Hawaii.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Pahrump; two sons, Jerry of Colorado and John of Pahrump; a daughter, Mary Joan Bayaoa of Hawaii; two sisters, Wanda Vaught and Helen Williams, both of Illinois; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Eula Powers
Date of death: May 10, 2000
Services for Eula Powers, 80, who died May 10 in Pahrump, were held May 13 at Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, Las Vegas.
Burial was in Paradise Memorial Gardens, Las Vegas.
She was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Tatum, N.M.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Nevada Silver Tappers for 10 years, and belonged to the Unity of the Desert Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary (David) Chandler of Pahrump, Jolene of Pahrump and Carol (Vincent) Ingram of Las Vegas; a son, Gordon (Margaret) of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; and 16 grandchildren.
Her husband of 49 years, Gordon Sr., preceded her in death.
Sadie Kaucky
A memorial service for Sadie Kaucky, 63, who died March 15, 2000 in Las Vegas, was held Monday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.
Burial was in the Chief Tecopa cemetery.
She was born Oct. 17, 1936 in Florida.
She came to Pahrump 27 years ago from California and worked as a cashier.
She belonged to the Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Carl (Becky) of Pahrump and Chuck of Las Vegas; two daughters, Desie (Bill) Mendenhall of Pahrump and Cindy Miller of Las Vegas; a brother, Bill O'Bry of Florida; two sisters, Janice O'Bry of Florida and Marie Clark of Georgia; and six grandchildren.
Wilda Hall
A memorial service for Wilda Lee Hall, 65, who died Feb. 11, 2000 in Las Vegas, will be held at 7 p.m. today in the Neptune Society chapel, 720 Buol Lane, with Pastor Gary Miller officiating.
She was born June 27, 1934 in Wellington, Ohio.
She worked as a secretary and clerk in the newspaper business and moved to Pahrump seven years ago from Mansfield, Ohio.
She was a past member of the 4-H Advisory Board in Ohio, past secretary of the Ashland County Paint & Plain Saddle Club, past member of the Black River High School band boosters, and was a member of the Monday Night Screwballs and Thursday Night Mixed bowling leagues at Mountain View.
She also managed Carousel Tack.
Wilda loved horses, horseback riding, and trail riding and camping.
She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining and breeding West Highland white terriers.
She belonged to the Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband, Basil Dille of Pahrump; two sons, Kent of Ashland and Michael...
Eugene Bunch
Funeral services for Eugene "Tweet" Bunch, 81, who died Feb. 12, 2000 in Thermopolis, Wyo., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mortimore Funeral Home, Thermopolis.
Burial will follow at Monument Hill cemetery.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918 in Carroll County, Mo., the son of Wyona and Edna Barns Bunch.
They moved to Thermopolis when he was 7, and he attended school and played basketball and football there.
He married
Margie King in 1936, and they were later divorced.
During WW II he served in the Marine Corps in the South Pacific.
After the war he moved to Las Vegas where he was a well-known casino dealer.
He was also employed at the Nevada Test Site.
He later moved to Pahrump where he resided for several years.
There he met Jane Kimball DeYoe, and they were married
Jan. 16, 1981.
They moved to Mohave Valley, Ariz., where they spent their winters and summered in Thermopolis before making Thermopolis their permanent home.
Greta Alvarado
A celebration of life memorial service for Greta Mae Alvarado, 84, who died March 3, 2000 in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Neptune Society Chapel, 720 Buol Lane, with Geraldine Milner officiating.
She was born July 25, 1915, in Lancaster, N.Y.
She was a homemaker and was a Jehovah's Witness.
She came to Pahrump in 1997 from Rockledge, Fla.
She is survived by a daughter, Irene Denison of Pahrump; a brother, Elihu Flewelling of Lancaster; and two sisters, Aileen Bercamo of West Los Angeles and Ruth Wrobbel of Detroit.
Edward Norton
A memorial service for Edward Norton, 49, who died Feb. 27, 2000, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Sam's Tavern.
He grew up in Chicago and served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper from 1969 to 1971.
He was in the roofing business in Chicago, and operated a roofing business in Pahrump after moving to Nevada 17 years ago.
His mother, Gwen, several cousins and Ashley Dimaio, survives him.
Michael Sloan
A memorial service for Michael Claude Sloan, 52, who died March 4, 2000 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. March 25 in the Victory Christian Center with Ken Burns officiating.
He was born Dec. 10, 1947, in York, Neb.
He served in the U.S. Army, then worked as a truck driver in the construction industry.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Pahrump; three sons, Shannon of Pahrump, Frankie Craig of Las Vegas and Marty Craig of Paris, Tenn.; a brother, Steven of California; two sisters, Rosella Brown of Sun City, Ariz., and Maxine Hunnel of Kearney, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
Belinda Turner
Belinda Sue Turner, 45, died March 4, 2000 in Pahrump.
She was born Sept. 29, 1954, in Farmington, N.M.
She came to Pahrump 20 years ago from Arizona, and worked as a bartender.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge.
A son, John Dyck of Arizona, and a brother, Alvin of Idaho, survive her.
Harmon West
A memorial service for Harmon Knox West, 77, who died March 7, 2000 in Pahrump, was held Wednesday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.
Burial will be at 9 a.m. today in the Southern Nevada Veteran's cemetery, Boulder City.
He was born June 12, 1922, in Bronson, Texas.
He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, and was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He worked as a casino dealer, and moved to Pahrump from Las Vegas 17 years ago.
Two sisters, Pauline (Boyd) Kilgore and Wonnie DuPont, both of Houston, survive him.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
Paul Greiner
Private family services will be held for Paul Eugene Greiner, 66, who died Jan. 19, 2000 in Pahrump.
He was born July 25, 1933 in Washington, D.C. and had a career in the U.S. Air Force.
He came to Pahrump from Bloomfield, Colo., in 1994.
He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and painting, and was a 32nd degree Mason.
He belonged to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa of Pahrump; three sons, John Englert of Westminster, Colo., and Edward Englert and Anthony Englert, both of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three daughters, Marie Shaver of Umatilla, Ore., Katherine Hillman of Miami, N.M., and Sherry Zimmerman of Westminster; a brother, Eugene of Denver; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
