Estelle Stone

Estelle Stone, 77, died April 29 in Pahrump.

She was born Oct. 23, 1925 in Chelsea, Mass., and moved to Pahrump in February, coming from Attelboro, Mass.

She worked as an artist for Colonial Candle until her retirement 15 years ago. She loved to draw the mountains.

Her children Meryl (Jay) Winter of Pahrump, Rhonda Petrucci and Neil Stone, both of Massachusetts; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive her. (4/29/03)

Sylvania Huff

Sylvania Huff, 39, died April 28 in Henderson.

She was born Dec. 28, 1963 in Hawaii, and was a resident of Pahrump for two years, coming from California.

She worked as a television host for Channel 41. She was a Christian.

Her husband Neal Huff of Pahrump, daughters Deon (Eric) Olmos and Jannette (Sonny) Hernandez, both of California; sons Emerson Huff and Preston Huff, both of Pahrump; and two grandchildren survive her. (4/28/03)

Duane Barris

Services for Duane H. Barris, 41, who died June 23 in Las Vegas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Burial will follow in Grandview cemetery.

He was born Feb. 26, 1962 in Albuquerque, N.M. He was a 15-year resident of Las Vegas, coming from Pahrump, where he lived for 12 years.

His wife, Rosie, of Las Vegas; son Duane Tristan Barris of Las Vegas; daughter Melissa Lee Barris of Las Vegas; parents Herbert and Bonnie Barris of Pahrump; sisters Diana Haulman and Anna Fanning, both of Pahrump; and several nieces, nephews and great nephews survive him.

Robert Handley

Services for Robert Handley, 42, who died June 16 in Pahrump, will be held at a later date.

He was born Feb. 8, 1961 in Kansas. He was a 14-year resident of Pahrump coming from Oklahoma, and worked as a welder at the Nevada Test Site.

His wife, Carla, of Pahrump; daughters Crystal (Bryan) Porter of Oklahoma, Dee Handley and Rainey Handley, both of Pahrump; stepdaughter Denise (Roman) Gray of Oklahoma; parents James and Ann Handley of Oklahoma; sister Ruth Handley of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren survive him.

Gerald Patterson

Services for Gerald S. Patterson, 59, who died June 17 in Pahrump, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m.

He was born May 21, 1994 in Georgetown township, Polk County, Wis. He was a resident of Pahrump for over six years, coming from Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Navy, and worked as an appliance installer.

His wife, Patricia, of Pahrump; sons Jeffery (SeJeana) Patterson of Pahrump, Jonathan Patterson of Las Vegas and Jason (Suzette) Patterson of Henderson; daughter Debra (Darren) Richardson of Russellville, Ohio; father Edwin Patterson and mother Leona Patterson of Centuria, Wis.; brothers Dan Patterson and Greg Patterson, both of Centuria,; sisters Judy Tourville of Balsam Lake, Wis., Carmen Patterson of Centuria; and Faye Tourville of Mesquite; nine grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Patricia Patterson, 1590 W. Bluebird, Pahrump, 89060.

Ronald Burnright

Ronald Burnright, 74, died June 3 in a Las Vegas hospital.

He was born March 24, 1929 in Chico, Calif., where he was raised.

He served in the U.S. Army and then returned to Chico to attend Chico State College. He graduated in 1955 with a teaching credential and taught high school in the Sacramento area for most of his career.

He retired at the age of 55 and moved to Pahrump a few years later.

He was a member of the Cactus and Succulent Society of Las Vegas and the Friends of the Library in Pahrump.

His sisters, Diane (Jack) of Burney, Calif., and Debbie (Dave) Abbott of Chico; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends in the Sacramento and Pahrump areas survive him.

Elizabeth Powers

Visitation for Elizabeth R. "Betty" Powers, 70, who died June 16 in Sacramento, Calif., will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane in Sacramento. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, also at East Lawn, with burial to follow.

She was a native of Weston, Mo., and lived in Leavenworth, Kan., and most recently resided in Pahrump.

She worked as a nurse for 15 years at American River Hospital in Carmichael, Calif., before retiring. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.

Her husband of 50 years, Eugene; children Linda (Bill) Combs of Sacramento, Steven (Lorrie) Powers of Vacaville, Calif., and Sharon Blatnick of Juneau, Alaska; and six grandchildren survive her.

East Lawn Mortuary handled the arrangements. (6/16/03)

Dorothe Warren

Private family services will be held for Dorothe Roland Warren, 94, who died June 15 in Pahrump.

She was born Dec. 14, 1908 in Hemmingford, Neb. She was a resident of Beatty since 1981, coming from Hemet, Calif.

She was a restaurant owner, a tour director for Death Valley, an artist and an author.

Her daughter Kolene Montgomery of Beatty; brothers Keith Roland and Kenneth Roland, both of Idaho Falls; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren survive her.

Bill Terry

Services for Bill J. Terry Sr., 76, who died June 2 in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. July 19 in the Beatty Senior Center.

He was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Marlow, Okla., and was a 32-year resident of Beatty, coming from Alamosa, Colo.

He served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy and was a World War II veteran.

He worked as an electronic technician for the federal government and after retiring was self employed for Terry Electric in Beatty.

He was a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars #6826 in Beatty, past master of the Montezuma Masonic Lodge in Goldfield, and past president of the Beatty Lions Club.

His wife of 56 years, Helen of Beatty; father Merle Lebbs of Oklahoma; sons Bill Terry Jr. of Broken Bow, Okla., and Richard Hunt of Las Vegas; brothers Kenneth Terry of New Mexico, Roger Tripp of Phoenix, and Tom Terravino of Texas; sister Shaney of California; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren survive him.

His son, Michael Terry, preceded him in death.

Jo Slater

Jo Slater, 60, died June 5 in Las Vegas.

She was born Aug. 8, 1942 in Oklahoma. She was a Pahrump resident since November 2001, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a cable technician with AT&T before retiring in 1997.

She was an animal lover and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Her husband, Pete, of Pahrump; children Nikki (Randy) Wimsatt of Las Vegas, LeRay (John) Gonzalez, Stephanie (Chris) Rasta, T. J. Slater, and Lindsay Slater, all of Arizona; brother Harold Smith of Arizona; sister Shirley Coronado of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren survive her.

Julia Baldwin

Graveside services for Julia Baldwin, 99, who died July 16, will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Grandview cemetery.

She was born March 23, 1904 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and was a three-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Seal Beach, Calif.

She was a homemaker who loved to entertain, play the harmonica and sing. She was Methodist.

Her daughter Bebe (Dale) Wilson of Pahrump; sons Terry (Myra) Baldwin and Ed (Marlene) Baldwin, both of California; son-in-law Tom Froehly of California; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren survive her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil in 1985, and daughter Barbara in 2001.

Edmond Haffey

No services will be held for Edmond "Barney" Haffey, 80, who died July 12 in Las Vegas.

He was born May 6, 1923 in Cape Horn, Wash., andwas an 11-year resident of Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He then worked as an area manager in the shoe industry until his retirement.

His wife Jean of Las Vegas; daughters Sandra Haffey of Portland, Ore. and Kellie Haffey of Long Branch, Wash.; son Micheal Haffey of The Woodlands, Texas; one brother; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren survive him.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service handled the arrangements. (7/12/03)

Eleanor Keulenas

Eleanor Keulenas, 80, died July 1.

She was born June 10, 1923 in Massachusetts where she was raised. She lived in California and Kingman, Ariz., before moving to Pahrump 15 years ago.

She has no known survivors, but will be missed by her many friends. (7/1/03)
