Carl Linderholm

Visitation for Carl "Gus" Linderholm, 65, who died May 8 in Pahrump, will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. today the LDS church in Pahrump. Graveside services will follow at Grandview cemetery with military honors.

He was born Dec. 16, 1937 in Alamosa, Colo. He was a resident of Pahrump since Oct. 1979, coming from Lompoc, Calif., where he lived for 30 years.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. He worked for 16 years as a pit boss and 21 dealer at Saddle West Hotel and Casino before he retired in 1996. He also served on the Lompoc Police Dept., and worked as a route salesman for 15 years for Red Star. He belonged to the LDS church in Pahrump.

He played Santa Claus for six years to the home-bound seniors and children of Pahrump. He was a special person who loved people and touched many lives. He will be missed.

His wife Carrie of Pahrump; children Gerri (Ken) Bortner of Hinckley, Calif., Carl Linderholm of Ft. Worth, Texas, Charles Linderholm of California, Steve Linderholm of Lompoc, Ray (Dawn) Bennett of Pahrump; and Tim Bennett of Portland, Ore.; father Clark Burt of Lompoc; sister Roberta (Jim) Campbell of Lompoc; 18 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren survive him.

His son Michael Linderholm, daughter Regina Cason, brother Don Linderholm and mother Sadie Burt preceded him in death.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice, 1440 E. Calvada Boulevard.

Nona McMurdo

Services have been held for Nona Ann McMurdo, 68, who died May 9 in Prescott, Ariz.

She was born April 6, 1935 in Wisconsin, and moved to Prescott in 1989 coming from Henderson.

She was a floral designer, a member of the American Legion Post 6 in Prescott, and a dedicated volunteer at the Sharlot Hall Museum.

She was a Catholic and loved to garden, sew, cook and have a good conversation.

Her daughters, Christie (Tom) Taylor of Henderson, Liz McCluskey and Linette (Kevin) Bennett of Prescott; son Doug (Sheila) McMurdo of Pahrump; four brothers; three sisters; five grandchildren, Nona, Justin, Shawnee, Shane and Gavin; and one great grandson, Lance, survive her.

Her husband, Mac, and sons Sebie and David preceded her in death.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott handled the arrangements. (5/9/03)

Patrick O'Malley

Patrick O'Malley, 56, died June 2 in Pahrump.

He was born March 24, 1947 in Monterey, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for one year, coming from Las Vegas.

He worked as a painter for McDonald Painting in Pahrump.

His daughter Ilene O'Malley of Las Vegas survives him.

Atha Young

Visitation for Atha M. Owens-Connely-Young, 63, who died June 2, will be at 10 a.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pahrump. Services will be at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Chief Tecopa cemetery.

She was a lifetime resident of Nevada, and a 42-year resident of Pahrump.

She was an equestrian and animal enthusiast, whose wish for her family and friends was a healthy, happy life.

Her daughter Kaye Connely-Slack of Pahrump; father Robert (Bob) Owens of Ferron, Utah; brothers James and David Owens, both of Ferron; and cousin Billy Owens of Las Vegas survive her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in her name to charity.

William Weaver

Private family services will be held for William Weaver, 58, who died May 31 in Henderson.

He was born May 31, 1945 in Wyoming, and was an eight year resident of Pahrump.

He worked as a building fabricator in the machine industry.

His wife Cleo Schultz of Pahrump; daughter Ginger Billeb of Virginia; brother Marion Weaver of Missouri; sisters Georgia Highley, Delories Thompson, both of Missouri, Pauline Phillips, Bonnie Kemfer, both of Oregon, and Dorothy O'Brien of Texas survive him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 2450 Chandler Avenue, Las Vegas 89120.

Jo Slater

Jo Slater, 60, died June 5 in Las Vegas.

She was born Aug. 8, 1942 in Oklahoma. She was a Pahrump resident since November 2001, coming from Las Vegas.

She worked as a cable technician with AT&T before retiring in 1997.

She was an animal lover and enjoyed arts and crafts.

Her husband, Pete, of Pahrump; children Nikki (Randy) Wimsatt of Las Vegas, LeRay (John) Gonzalez, Stephanie (Chris) Rasta, T. J. Slater, and Lindsay Slater, all of Arizona; brother Harold Smith of Arizona; sister Shirley Coronado of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren survive her.

Freda DeVous

Services for Freda Eleanor DeVous, 81, who died June 8 in Las Vegas, will be held at 6 p.m. today at the Neptune Society chapel, 720 Buol Lane, with Pastor Dick Bauer presiding.

She was born Oct. 26, 1921 in Ontario, Canada, and moved to Pahrump in 1996 coming from Arroyo Grande, Calif.

She worked as secretary for the Hughes Corporation and was a member of the Elks and Moose. She loved reading mysteries and collected porcelain birds.

Her sons Mark (Yvonne) DeVous and Arthur (Sue) DeVous, both of Pahrump; granddaughter Kara (Tony) Curto of Pahrump; and three great grandchildren survive her.

Neptune Society of Nye County handled the arrangements. (6/8/03)

Theresa Krukowski

Services for Theresa Krukowski, 70, who died June 6 at her home in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church in Las Vegas.

She was born Dec. 27, 1932, in New York, and was a Pahrump resident.

She worked as a cosmetologist before retiring.

Her husband Frank of Pahrump and two daughters survive her.

Vivien Morehouse

Services have been held for Vivien M. Morehouse, 77, who died July 17 in Wickenburg, Ariz.

She was born May 26, 1926 in Houghton Lake, Mich., and had been a 15-year resident of Pahrump.

She was a real estate broker and the owner of PVH Realty in Pahrump.

He husband Paul of Wickenburg; sons David (Debbie) Houser of Pahrump, Gary (Jaime) Houser of Middletown, Calif., Larry (Julia) Houser of Wickenburg, and Greg (Chris) Houser of Las Vegas; grandchildren Jason (Barbara) Houser and Matt (Jerri) Houser, both of Pahrump, Justin Houser of Las Vegas, Michael (Carolyn) Lamme of Phoenix, Julia (Nick) Chondropoulos of Riverside, Calif., Danielle DeWeese and Ashley Hathaway; and 10 great grandchildren survive her. Loretta Hannah

Services have been held for Loretta Maxine Hannah, 82, who died July 20 in Las Vegas.

She was born Nov. 14, 1920 in Kansas City, Kan., and was a 27-year resident of the Las Vegas area.

Her sons Alvin Hannah of Golden Valley, Ariz., and Tom Hannah of Pahrump; sister Betty Jo Knocke of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren survive her.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to charity. (7/20/03)

Monty Hartwick

A memorial service with honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church for Monty Hartwick, 83, who died Aug. 13 in Las Vegas.

He was born March 13, 1920 in Ontario, Canada. He was a 17-year resident of Pahrump, and a previous resident of Las Vegas and Cheektowaga, N.Y.

A World War II veteran, he served in the U.S. Army for 10 years and received the Army Defense Service Medal. He then worked as a truck driver for Highland and Anderson dairies before retiring in 1982.

He was a volunteer of Doyle 1 Hose Company of Cheektowaga and enjoyed making wind chimes.

His wife Loretta of Pahrump; daughter Sandra (Randy) Hollingsworth of Nevada; son John (Kelli) Hartwick of Pahrump; one brother; and three grandchildren survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church or a hospice.
