Harriet Marchand
Services have been held for Harriet Marchand, 84, who died Aug. 14 in Pahrump.
She was born July 11, 1919 in San Francisco and moved to Pahrump in 2000 from Seattle, Wash.
She worked as a beautician before retiring 30 years ago.
A Christian, she liked to read and was on a shuffleboard league.
Her daughter Nancy (Tom) Gilbert of Pahrump; son Frank (Gloria) Ceteznik of Mercer Island, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren survive her.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pahrump Family Mortuary to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Lucius Talley
Services have been held for Lucius A. Talley, 84, who died Aug. 11 in Las Vegas.
He was born Sept. 22, 1918 in Brunswick, Ga., and was a 21-year resident of Pahrump.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.
His wife Mabel of Pahrump; daughters Marcia Talley-Morris of Pahrump and Phyllis Washington of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and two grandchildren survive her.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Carl Carlgren
Services for Carl Carlgren, 84, who died Aug. 17 in Stewart Valley, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Burial will be in Ely cemetery.
He was born Oct. 5, 1918, in Goldfield, Utah. He was a Pahrump resident since 1975, coming from Las Vegas.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry until his retirement in 1980.
His wife Goldy of Stewart Valley; sons Vernon (Chou) Bradley of Las Vegas, Carl James (Mary) Carlgren of Arizona, Mitchell Carlgren of Pahrump, Richard (Sioux) Carlgren of Pahrump, and Daniel (Mary) Carlgren of Nevada; daughter Deyna (Andy) Dela Cruz of Nevada; 42 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren survive him.
Three sisters, one brother, one son and six grandchildren preceded him in death.

Jess Burcham
No services will be held for Jess Burcham, 64, who died Aug. 17 in Pahrump.
He was born April 19, 1939 in Athens, Ohio, and was a 5-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.
He was a professional keno player at Mountain View Casino. He was Protestant.
His wife Dorothy of Pahrump; son Dan (Paula) DeWitt of Pahrump; and granddaughter Shelly (Brian) Highland of Pahrump survive him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mountain View employees fund in care of the United Way.

Robert Schneblin
Robert Neil Schneblin, 86, died Aug. 10 while surrounded by family in Sacramento, Calif.
He was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Peoria, Ill., and he lived there until he attended college at Purdue University in Indiana. After the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Robert enlisted in the Air Force. He was in active military service for seven and a half years and flew in the Berlin airlift.
He was in the military reserves for 12 and a half years and a civilian in the Air Force some 26 years. He was an aeronautical engineer in the civil service and was the lead engineer for the development of the C-130, the most reconfigured airplane in history, until he retired in 1965. He worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and then moved his family to Redlands, Calif., where he worked at Norton Air Force Base.
Afterward, he moved to Nevada and built a home in Elko in the late 1970s. He later sold that home to move to Pahrump.
Three sons, Steve, Michael and Rick Schneblin; daughter Janet Prater; stepdaughter Frances Anderson; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren survive him.
Helen Bunch
Services for Helen Bunch, 66, who died Aug. 16 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Los Osos, Calif., cemetery.
She was born Dec. 13, 1936 in Fresno, Calif. She moved to Pahrump in November from Medford, Ore.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Bank of America, loved to read and watch Lifetime television.
She attended Trinity Lutheran Church.
Her daughters Rosie (Harold) Wagner of California, Carla Bunch of California, and Sonya Cobb of Washington; two sisters; four brothers; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren survive her.

Sandy Rodgers
A memorial service for Sandy Rodgers, 58, who died Aug. 19 in Las Vegas, will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Terrible's Lakeside Amphitheater.
She was born Feb. 27, 1945 in Detroit, Mich., and was a resident of Pahrump since 1995, coming from San Diego.
She worked in food preparation at Terrible's Lakeside and was of the Lutheran faith.
Her sons Darce Wilson of Pahrump, Dennis Rodgers of California, and Terry Rodgers; daughter Karen (Bob) Offerman of California; and three grandchildren survive her.
Her husband preceded her in death.

Joseph Barela
Visitation for Joseph Alvin Barela, 51, who died Aug. 27 in Pahrump, will be from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Neptune Society Chapel. Services will follow at 5 p.m.
He was born Jan. 23, 1953, in Trinchera, Colo. He moved to Pahrump in 1986 coming from Death Valley.
He worked as a Natural Resource Specialist for the National Park Service.
His wife Susan of Pahrump; sons Edward Barela of Tyler, Texas, Michael Barela of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Fernando Chaidez of Pahrump; daughters Tina (John) Djurdjevich of Ft. Wayne, Jessica (Chris) Corley of Winnemucca, and Victoria Barela of Pahrump; brother Billy Barela; sisters Annabelle Parsons, Irene Reynolds, Sophia (Bruce) Delzer, Betty (Charles) Stires, Beatrice (Harley) Becknall, Charlene (Ralph) Pilkenton, Laura (Charles) Mock, and Dorothy (Ted) Serafin; and nine grandchildren survive him.

Raymond DePalma
An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 6121 Markleham Ave. in Las Vegas to remember Raymond Mathew DePalma Jr., 56, who died Aug. 25 after a long bout with cancer.
He was born July 17, 1947, in Detroit. He was a lifelong educator who spent the early part of his career as a teacher and a coach in Michigan. He later worked as a school administrator in Nye County, including stints as an assistant principal in Tonopah, a principal of Gabbs School, and eventually as a principal of Pahrump Valley High School. He finished his career in Nye County as principal at Tonopah High School, before he left to become principal of Virgin Valley High School in Mesquite and a principal of the K-12 school in Indian Springs.
He was working as assistant principal for athletics - sports was one of his passions - at the new Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas at the time of his death.
His wife Pamela of Las Vegas; father Raymond Sr.; son Dennis of Los Angeles; daughters Lacey Evans and McCall Strehlow, both of Las Vegas; sister Linda Wilson of Roswell, N.M.; and two grandsons survive him. (8/25/03)
James Kell
A Remembrance of Life for James Bruce Kell, 85, who died Aug. 26 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at the home of his daughter Linda Reed.
He was born July 3, 1918, in Centralia, Ill., and lived in Pahrump for two years coming from South Lake Tahoe.
He worked as a lead man for Zero Manufacturing before retiring in 1978.
He belonged to the Elks and was of the Baptist faith.
His wife Geraldine of Pahrump; daughters Patricia Redell of Idaho, Linda Reed of Pahrump, and Betty Loechel of California; grandsons Robert Shields of Idaho, Wayne Barnes of Colorado, and Scott Loechel of California; granddaughter Stacy Loechel of California; and two great grandchildren survive him.

James McGranor
Private family services have been held for James McGranor, 72, who died Aug. 23 in Las Vegas.
He was born March 23, 1931 in Pennsylvania, and was a 14-year resident of Pahrump coming from California.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning a Purple Heart. He worked as a bus driver for the Regional Transportation Department until his retirement 14 years ago.
His wife Helen of Pahrump, and son Robert Rowe of Pahrump survive him.
