Carolynn Whiting
Services have been held for Carolynn C. Whiting, 41, who died May 18 in Las Vegas.
She was born Aug. 1, 1961, in Canoga Park, Calif. She was a 35-year resident of Las Vegas, where she worked as a bartender.
Her son Paul C. Whiting of Las Vegas; mother Carolynn Ley of Pahrump; father Gunther Theilkuhl of Pahrump; stepfather Ray Ley of Pahrump; and companion Duane Huggins of Las Vegas survive her.

Edward Oehler
Services have been held for Edward P. Oehler, 77, who died July 16 in Las Vegas.
He was born March 17, 1926 in Chicago, and was a 40-year resident of Las Vegas. He worked as a keno writer for the hotel casino industry before retiring.
His daughters Nina Jansen and Vicki Cole, both of Pahrump; son Ralph Oehler of Las Vegas; five grandchildren and one great grandchild survive him. (7/16/03)
David Rogers
Services for David William Rogers, 50, who died July 20 in Pahrump, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel.
He was born Jan. 20, 1953 in St. Paul, Minn., and was a six-year resident of Pahrump coming from Lolo, Mont.
He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as an operating engineer with Southern Nevada Paving.
He was a member of the Nevada Water Color Society and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. A Christian, he attended New Hope Fellowship in Pahrump.
His wife Victoria of Pahrump; son Dustin (Jessica) Rogers of Lolo; daughter Savanah (Chad) Nelson of Ludington, Mich.; stepson Jayce MacDonald of Pahrump; father Harold Rogers of Ocean Park, Wash.; mother Floretta (Percy) Hartl of Libby, Mont.; brother Donald (Joanne) Rogers of Puyallup, Wash.; sisters Debbie (Bill) Menne of St. Paul, Minn. And Lori (Blaine) Rogers of Worden, Mont.; grandchildren Chloe, Gabe and Tobyn; and several nieces and nephews survive him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club.

Clovis Cates
Services are pending for Clovis Cates, 88, who died July 22 in Keokuk, Iowa.
He was born July 15, 1915 in McKinney, Texas, and was longtime resident of Pahrump before moving to Keokuk 15 months ago.
He served in the U.S. Army for 22 years as an equestrian trainer. After retiring from the Army in 1955, he worked as a civil servant.
He enjoyed horses, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His son Robert Cates of Pahrump; granddaughters Erin (Kenny) Gronewold or Warsaw, Ill., Ginnie (Dennis) Miller of Seattle, Wash., and Tina Cates of Las Vegas; grandsons Adam (Heidi) Cates of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Jeremy (Laura) Cates of Bastrop, Texas, and Clovis Kim Cates of Nevada; and seven great grandchildren survive him.
His wife Julia, son Clovis Allen and daughter Cloveta Kay preceded him in death.

Doris Robichaud
A memorial services for Doris Mae Robichaud, 78, who died Aug. 8 in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 5441 S. Vicki Ann Road.
She was born May 29, 1925, in Superior, Wisc., and was a resident of Pahrump for five years, coming from Las Vegas.
She worked as a key punch operator for Central Co-Op and was a foster parent to 17 children.
She belonged to Grace Christian Fellowship.
Her husband John Robichaud of Pahrump; daughters Jane Robichaud of Minnesota, Kathy Robichaud, Jill Dionne and Roxanne Carl, all of Las Vegas; son Kenneth Robichaud of Utah; 15 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren survive her.

Pen Griffith
Private family services will be held for Pen E. Griffith, 42, who died Aug. 5 in Las Vegas.
She was born Nov. 1, 1960 in Tillamook, Ore. A homemaker, she was a resident of Pahrump since 1977.
Her husband Rob Grant of Pahrump; children James Griffith, Justin Griffith and Jasmin Keith of Pahrump; mother Edith Griffith of Pahrump; brother Bert "Mick" Griffith of Washington; sister Lani Bennett of Pahrump; grandson Brandon Lee; nieces Vanessa and Kady Bennett of Pahrump; and nephew Timothy Bennett of Pahrump survive her.

Earl Byers
Private family services have been held for Earl L. Byers, 70, who died Aug. 1 in Pahrump.
He was born Oct. 28, 1932 in San Diego, Calif., and moved to Pahrump five years ago from Los Angeles.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked in the grocery industry where he was self-employed.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and selfless man. He had a great passion for horses and drawing, and his lifelong will to do for others carried him into the hearts of many.
His wife Lucy of Pahrump; daughters Brenda Byers, Lori (Lonnie) Turell, and Cathy Byers, all of California; and five grandchildren survive him.

Charles Drake
Graveside services for Charles Patrick Drake, 42, who died Aug. 23 in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Grandview cemetery.
He was born March 26, 1961 in Los Angeles, and moved to Pahrump in Oct. 2002, coming from San Diego.
He worked as an investigator in the hotel industry. A Christian, he was a member of the Chula Vista Yacht Club and enjoyed fishing and shooting.
His wife Hilda of Pahrump; daughters Andrea Drake and Jessica Drake of Germany; brother Joel Kanter of Costa Mesa, Calif.; sisters Irene Smith of Forks, Wash., Sonia Morrison of Santa Cruz, Calif., Esther Kanter of Seattle, Michelle Fuller of San Diego, and Ramona Drake of Fresno, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews survive him.

Clifford Rominger, Jr.
Private family services will be held for Clifford Eugene Rominger, Jr., 68, who died Aug. 30 in Henderson.
He was born Sept. 2, 1934 in San Francisco and was a 12-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Livermore, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as an installer for Western Electric.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Military Order of the Louse, and a past member of the SKP Trailer Park Board.
Three sons, Eugene Rominger of Alameda, Calif., David Brewster of Solvang, Calif., and Wayne Brewster of Livermore; brothers-in-law Robert Rominger of Antioch, Calif., and Edward Rominger of Livermore; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren survive him.

Mary Christopherson
Services have been held for Mary Viola Christopherson, 75, who died Aug. 31 in Las Vegas.
She was born May 8, 1928 in Liberty, Ariz., and was a 31-year resident of Pahrump.
She met her husband, Dale, while working as telegrapher for the Union Pacific Railroad. Later, she spent many years teaching first grade, as well as other grades, until her retirement in 1990.
She loved spending time with her family and traveling around the world with her husband. She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her husband Dale of Pahrump; daughters Connie (Duane) Gardner of Manti, Utah, Sharon McKenzie of Roosevelt, Utah, Patricia (Greg) Pierce of Rexburg, Idaho, Penny (Craig) Heiner of Ogden, Utah, and Lorraine (Ron) Rupper or Orem, Utah; sons Heber (Debra) Christopherson of Ogden and Patrick (Elvon) Christopherson of Twin Falls, Idaho; 52 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren survive her.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, one great grandson and one son-in-law.

Rogers Hilborn
A service for Rogers Hilborn, 73, who died Sept. 5 in Las Vegas, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Beatty Community Church. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. at the church. A fellowship will be held at the Beatty Senior Center following the service.
He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Texas. He was a career member of the U.S. Army. He moved to Pahrump from Monterey, Calif., in 1998. He was a Christian and a member of the Beatty Community Church.
Sons Morris of Las Vegas, Ira of Alabama, Marion of England, and Carlos Hollingsworth of Los Angeles; daughter Wanda (Andrew) Bernhardt of Beatty; brother Mac of Denver; sister Montilla Wells of Los Angeles; and 12 grandchildren survive him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable, in 1999.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
