Bernie Westra

Bernie Westra, 64, died Sept. 8 in Pahrump.

He was born June 26, 1939, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He worked as a carpenter. He moved to Pahrump six years ago from Sioux Falls. He was a Lutheran.

Sisters Shirley (Frank) Albers of Pahrump and Mariann (Bob) Kielman of South Dakota; son Ken of South Dakota; daughters Cher and Amber Westra and Pam Mullinix, all of South Dakota; and six grandchildren survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

William Freed III

Services for William Brandon Michael Freed Jr. III, 30, who died in a car accident Sept. 20 in Hawthorne, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 781 E. Gamebird Road.

He was born Nov. 12, 1972 in Englewood, N.J., and was a resident of Las Vegas for five years.

He worked in security and as a bodyguard in Las Vegas, and owned several small businesses.

His father William C. Freed; mother Samantha Serena F. Freed; brothers Timothy Thomas S. Freed, Clint Charlton L. Freed, and Michael Martin C. Freed; sisters Ashley Amber C. Freed, Cassandra Celena J. Freed, Yvette Yvonne L. Esposito, and Angelica Nicole Giovanni survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Freed family at 3321 W. Charleston Park Avenue in Pahrump. (9/20/03)

Herbert Nemeyer

A Celebration of Life for Herbert B. Nemeyer, 79, who died Oct. 10, will be held at 3 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Willow Creek Golf Course.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a Ranger I from the California Division of Forestry after 30 years of service.

He was a Pahrump resident for 20 years, a member of the Willow Creek Golf Course, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge.

His wife of 56 years, Janice; children Rex and Renee; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive him.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grossman Burn Center, 4929 Van Nuys Boulevard, Sherman Oaks, CA 91403.

Opal Revert

Opal Francis Carr Revert, 88, died Sept. 26 in Las Vegas.

She was born Jan. 19, 1915 in Warren, Ark. to Edna and Charles Carr.

She moved to Beatty in 1937, and married Arthur Revert in 1939.

Her husband Arthur; children Robert and Brenda; sisters Ruby and Eva; brother Reece; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren survive her. (9/26/03)

Penny Salyers

Penny B. Salyers, 48, passed away Oct. 11 in Pahrump.

She was born June 25, 1955 in California. A homemaker, she was a resident of Pahrump for eight years.

She enjoyed bowling, fishing, football and people.

Her daughters Stacy Murphy-Coleman and Ashley Salyers, both of Independence, Mo.; sons John Montano Jr. of Kansas City, Mo., and Alan Akers; mother Bernice (Terry) Ruprect of Pahrump; brother Walter Faas Jr., of Pahrump; sisters Jay Foy of Waco, N.C., and Judy DeWoody of Hesperia, Calif.; and nine grandchildren survive her.

Tabatha Taylor

Visitation for Tabatha Lynn Taylor, 21, who died Oct. 8 in Pahrump, will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pahrump Family Mortuary Chapel. There will be visitation one hour before the service on Sunday.

She was born May 21, 1982 in Berwyn, Ill., and was a resident of Pahrump for five years coming from Apache Junction, Ariz.

Her mother Monna Carlson of Pahrump; stepfather Roy Carlson Sr. of Ottawa, Ill.; daughter Shyanne Taylor of Pahrump; sister Natalie Carlson of Pahrump; stepsister Julie Carlson of Ottawa; grandmother Betty Fout of Pahrump; and grandfather Vernal Fout of Pahrump survive her.

Clarence Fletcher

A mass service for Clarence J.P. Fletcher, 70, who died Nov. 20, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.

He was born May 25, 1933 in Montreal, Canada and was a resident of Pahrump since 1998.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a journeyman in the machine industry before retiring to Pahrump.

He was of the Catholic faith.

His cousins Sam Greco and Audrey Greco of Las Vegas survive him.

Joyce Stoliker

No services will be held for Joyce M. Stoliker, 85, who died Oct. 30 in Las Vegas.

She was born Aug. 28, 1918 in London, England and was a four-year resident of Pahrump.

She was a housewife and a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Her daughter Carol Stoliker of Las Vegas; son Donald C. Stoliker of Indiana; grandsons Jim Stoliker of Ohio and Courtney Stoliker of Indiana; granddaughters Leigh Anne (Tyler) Baker of Pahrump, Carlyn J. Bedwell of Las Vegas, Joyce D Burrows of Colorado, Shannon (Charles) Watson and Teresa Viets, both of Ohio; great granddaughter Shaiya Sullivan; and great grandsons Wyatt and Colton Baker survive her.

Her husband, Chester Stoliker, and son, Robert, preceded her in death.

Lillian Anderson

Graveside services for Lillian Alberta Anderson, 84, who died Nov. 2, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grandview cemetery.

She was born Aug. 5, 1919 in North Platte, Neb., and was a resident of Pahrump for five years, coming from California.

She was a musician and of the Protestant faith.

Her daughters April Hendricks of Missouri, Frances Propps, Alice (Cliff) Wisenhunt, and Rosemary (Greg) Ross, all of Pahrump; son David Braniff of Pahrump; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren survive her.

Her husband and a son preceded her in death.

Anna Yale

No services will be held for Anna C. Yale, 93, who died Nov. 17.

She was born Sept. 22, 1910 in Illinois. She was a 12-year resident of Nevada, and previous resident of Reno.

She worked as a dental assistant until her retirement and was of the Catholic faith.

Her son Michael (Rita) Kerivan of Reno; daughter Barlera DeShew of Pahrump; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren survive her.

Darlene Taylor

Services for Darleen Ann Taylor, 47, who died Nov. 13 in Pahrump, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Choice Hills Baptist Church, 340 W. Mesquite Ave., with Pastor England presiding.

She was born Aug. 20, 1956 in Mohave, Calif., and was resident of Pahrump for three year, coming from Death Valley.

She worked as a front office manager and enjoyed crafts, puzzles, the outdoors, hiking, country music, dancing and NASCAR racing.

She was a Christian.

Her son Landen Taylor of Hemet, Calif.; daughter Lynsi Taylor of Pahrump; sisters Donna Stull of Seattle, Diane George of Monett, Mo., and Deborah Young-SorBello of Hemet survive her.

Her son Garret Taylor preceded her in death.
