James Brown
A memorial service for James Preston Brown, 56, who died Nov. 28 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Pahrump Family Mortuary with Pastor Bob Lewis officiating.
He was born March 10, 1947 in San Francisco and was a resident of Pahrump for seven years, coming from California.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a mechanic.
His wife Barbara of Pahrump; sons Sean Brown of Los Angeles and Jason Brown of Henderson; sister Debbie Modun of Portland, Ore.; and six grandchildren survive him.
His parents preceded him in death.

Emily Grady
Services have been held for Emily V. Grady, 94, who died Nov. 27.
She was born in Boston, and resided in Boston, Boxboro, Medford, Woburn and Cotuit, Mass., Salem, N.H., and for the last six years in Richmond, Va.
She attended Boston University and the Wilfred Beauty Academy, and earned a Massachusetts real estate broker license. She worked as a cosmetologist with her own beauty shop in downtown Boston and later in the Deaconess Hospital in Boston.
She devoted herself to her family and made new friends in any setting. She also enjoyed traveling, reading, sewing, cooking, knitting, hooking and braiding rugs, furniture upholstery, gardening, canning, needlework, painting in water colors, as well as singing soprano in her church choir.
Her children Richard R. Grady of Pahrump; James E. Grady of Richmond, Donna DeFlorio of Marston Mills, Mass., and Linda R DeMinico of Sanbornton, N.H.; sisters Sophie Skipper of Chatham, Mass., and Audrey Main of Colorado Springs; brother Edward Grala of Florham Park, N.J.; and grandchildren Michael, Peter and David DeMinico, all of Sanbornton, survive her.
Her husband, R. Ralph Grady, preceded her in death.

Nancy Martin
Private family services will be held for Nancy Jean Martin, 63, who died Nov. 29 in Pahrump.
She was born Jan. 24, 1940 in Madison, Wis., and was a resident of Pahrump for six months, coming from Wisconsin.
She worked as an executive secretary before retiring.
Her husband Robert Dale Martin of Pahrump; daughter Robin A. Nicholas of Texas; brother Norman Deichsel of Georgia; and one grandchild survive her.
Her parents preceded her in death.

Mimi Weisner
No services will be held for Mimi Weisner, 74, who died Nov. 23 in Pahrump.
She was born May 11, 1929 in Antwerp, Belgium, and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years, coming from Santa Ana, Calif.
She worked in data processing for Pfizer until her retirement in 1991.
Her husband Henry of Pahrump; daughter Mona Falix of Anaheim, Calif.; and sister Nicole Wones of Studio City, Calif., survive her.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Eula Saladino
No services will be held for Eula D. Saladino, 69, who died Dec. 2 in Pahrump.
She was born Aug. 26, 1934 in California and was a six-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.
She worked as a porter for a casino and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Her sons Samuel (Rhonda) Hamett and Timethy Hamett, both of Pahrump, and Ron (Jeanne) Hamett of California; brother Arlen Bowman of California; sisters Thelma Farmer and Connie Johnson, both of California; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren survive her.
From her family: Our mom, grandmother, auntie and sister is with our maker on Dec. 2, 2003. She is loved and will be missed. Her smile and wisdom have helped us all during her time with us. We love you, mom. Live with the Lord forever.

Jennifer Dalton
Private family services will be held for Jennifer Lynn Dalton, 31, who died Dec. 5 in Pahrump.
She was born Feb. 12, 1972 in Las Vegas and moved to Pahrump in 1998.
She attended Chaparrel High School in Las Vegas, and then worked as a secretary. She loved sports cars and stuffed animals.
Her parents Timothy and Lynelle Dalton of Pahrump; brother Patrick Dalton of Pahrump; and grandmother Joanne Gleason of Boulder City survive her.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

Jeannine Vaughn
No services will be held for Jeannine Frances Vaughn, 72, who died Dec. 6.
She was born Aug. 1, 1931 in Centralia, Wash. She was a previous resident of Oregon and then moved to The Dalles, Wash.
She worked as a business manager for 22 years for the The Dalles Chronicle, a Scripps league newspaper.
She was past president of Credit Women International in The Dalles, past president of The Dalles Soroptimist, and served on the City Beautification Committee. She was a governor's appointed committee member on a state project to plan a reporting system on poverty in the state and implement plans to be considered by his office. Her biography was entered in "Who's Who of American Women."
Her daughters Jacqueline (Tom) Westfall of Pahrump; Carol (Gerald) Huhta of Washington, and Teresa (Keith) Jallen of The Dalles; stepson David Blankenship of Wakefield, Mass.; sisters Carol (Ted) Oster of Centralia, and Shirley (Steve) Webb of Orlando, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord Ross Vaughn, in 1988, and a daughter, Susan Ray, in 1956. (12/6/03)
Alfred Schmidt
Private family services will be held for Alfred E. Schmidt, 69, who died Dec. 6 in Pahrump.
He was born Jan. 10, 1934 in Portland, Ore., and was a resident of Pahrump for six years, coming from Las Vegas..
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 18 years before retiring, and then worked as a carpenter.
He was a member of the NRA and AARP.
His daughter Sherri (Ike) Kuiava of Pahrump; son Al Filmora of St. George, Utah; mother Carolina Daly of Mesquite; brother Don Schmidt of Eugene, Ore.; companion Francis Priserry of Pahrump; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren survive him.

Earl Hatfield
Interment for Earl P. Hatfield, 73, who died Dec. 4 in Las Vegas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chief Tecopa cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Pahrump Community Church.
He was born June 25, 1930 in Sheldon, Mo., and was an 18-year resident of Pahrump.
He was a colonel in the U.S. Army, and worked for Valley Electric until his retirement nine years ago.
A Christian, he belonged to Pahrump Community Church.
His wife Karen Hatfield of Pahrump; sons Michael Hatfield of Pacifica, Calif., Kevin Spring of Las Vegas, Ken Spring of Merced, Calif., and Kristopher Spring of Modesto, Calif.; daughter Catherine Cram of San Francisco; sister Dorothea Peckish of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; brother Burl Hatfield of Stevensville, Mont.; and 10 grandchildren survive him.

Ronald Carillo
Services for Ronald Carillo, 61, who died Nov. 27 in Pahrump, will be held at 12:40 p.m. Thursday at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery in Boulder City.
He was born Sept. 13, 1942 in Vellejo, Calif., and was a six-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Blue Diamond.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and then worked as a printer.
His wife Dorothy Carillo of Pahrump; daughters Susan Cox of Pahrump and Debbra Menez of Kansas; sister Joan Taddey of California; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild survive her.

Clyntola Slinger
Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will hold a mass at 9:30 a.m. today for Clyntola A. Slinger, 88, who died Dec. 3 in Pahrump.
She was born Oct. 5, 1915 in Millerstown, Ky., and was a 19-year resident of Pahrump, coming from Las Vegas.
She worked as a house supervisor for Child Haven and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Her son Edward L. Slinger of Pahrump; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren survive her.
