Alice Lamb Hatheway, 86, formerly of Terry Road and Fitzgerald Point, Otisco Lake, died Sunday at Birchwood Health Care Center in Liverpool. Born in Fulton, she graduated from Syracuse University in 1936. She retired in 1976 as a mathematics teacher and head of the math department at Solvay High School after 17 years. She was former president of Westvale Mother's Club and a former member of Tuscarora Golf Club. She was a member of the National Education Association and Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Richard W., died in 1994. Survivor: A son, Richard W. Jr. of Roswell, Ga. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Buranich Funeral Home. Burial, Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Anna E. Ingerson

Anna E. Clark Ingerson, 83, of Central Square died Sunday at Pontiac Nursing Home in Oswego. She lived most of her life in Central Square. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Charles, died in 1988. Nicholas Klimeck

Nicholas Klimeck, 75, of Lakeland died Monday. Born in Syracuse, he lived most of his life in Lakeland. He retired in 1991 after 37 years as a field service engineer for Lennox Industries in Syracuse. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife, the former Antoinette Catalano; three daughters, Mary Ann Sember of Camillus, Valerie McCombs of Wampum, Pa., and Helen Klimeck-Jones of Rochester; a brother, John of Syracuse; three grandchildren. Sanford E. Kline, 73, of Manlius died Sunday of cancer. Born in Rochester, he graduated from East High School, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester and a master's degree in labor relations from Cornell University. He was founder and owner of Stylish Women Ltd. and retired in 1994 after 23 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: His wife, the former Faye Barab; a daughter, Penny S. Kline of Durham, N.C.; two sons, Dr. Mark J. of Sudbury, Mass., and James H. of Fremont, Calif.; four grandchildren. Services and burial: Private. John M. Kyanka, 54, of Solvay died Sunday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Liverpool High School in 1965. He was a machinist for Anaren Microwave in East Syracuse for 12 years. He was a member of the Ukrainian Wednesday Night Men's Bowling League and the American Legion in Canastota. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army National Guard. His father, John Sr., died in 1988. Survivors: His wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Kimberly Kyanka of Lyncourt and Nikky Kyanka of Solvay; a son, Jeffrey of Lyncourt; two stepdaughters, Tekla Henderson of Las Vegas and Brandy Planty of Syracuse; his mother, Lucille Kyanka of North Syracuse; a sister, Patricia Lake of Manlius; a brother, David J. of Liverpool; 10 grandchildren. Services: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Macko-Vassallo Funeral Home. Burial, St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Carmel M. Malvaso

Carmel Mary Spadaro Malvaso, 83, of 17 Chestnut St., Auburn, died Monday. She was born in Auburn. She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered at St. Alphonsus School as a library aide and in the emergency room at Auburn Memorial Hospital for many years. She taught swimming to special needs individuals. A son, Anthony, died in 1954. Survivors: Her husband of 63 years, Rocco D.; six daughters, Marie Hughes of Berlin, N.H., Jean Malvaso-Zingaro of Fairport, Francine Oliver of Wilmington, Del., and Judy Santillo, Anne Donahue and Margaret Remaley, all of Auburn; three sons, Patrick of Alexandria, Va., James of Fairport and John of Raleigh, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Farrell Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial, St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fleming. Rita Pozella Mannino, 75, of Abilene, Texas, died Saturday. Born in Camillus, she lived in Cortland most of her life, moving away in 1997. She was a teacher at St. Mary's School in Cortland for 30 years and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Cortland. Her husband, Salvatore J., died in 1997. Survivors: Two daughters, Sandra Lorenzen of Abilene and Sallie Darling of Conway, S.C.; a sister, Betty Simonelli of Camillus; two brothers, Bill Pozella of Palmyra, Va., and John Pozella of Cortland; one grandchild. James K. Merrill, 41, of 456 Franklin St., Oneida, died Sunday in an accident in the Amsterdam area. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Chittenango High School in 1978. He was a self-employed dragline contractor for 20 years and was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 545 in Syracuse. He had owned and operated a heavy equipment construction company and had worked at E.J. Button & Sons in Chittenango. Survivors: His wife of 17 years, the former Vicki Miller; a daughter, Trisha Merrill, at home; a son, Bradley, at home; two brothers, Michael of North Chittenango and Steven of Chittenango; his maternal grandmother, Lizzie Weaver, formerly of Lakeport. Margaret C. Paye, 74, of 917 Madison St., Syracuse, died Sunday. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., she graduated from College Misericordia in 1949. She graduated with a master's degree in 1969 from the University of Rochester. She retired in 1985 as a schoolteacher at the Baldwinsville school district and had taught in the Binghamton school district. She was an exchange teacher in London in 1978. She had been a communicant, lector and catechetics teacher at St. Therese Church in Syracuse. She received a VISTA Award at a White House Ceremony in 1990. Survivors: Two sisters, Mary F. Comfort of Liverpool and Anne Paye of Wilkes-Barre; a brother, Charles K. Paye Jr. of Wilmington, N.C. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday in Christ the King Church. He was a sales representative for Pyramid Brokerage and had worked at City Linen & Towel, a family business, as vice president and a salesman. He was a life member of Pastime Athletic Club, a communicant of Holy Cross Church, and a member of Vagabond Golf Group. He served in the Air Force Reserve during the Berlin crisis of 1962. Survivors: His wife, the former Kristin Lyons; a daughter, Katherine Ross of Boston; four sons, F. He retired as a manager from Crown Liqueurs in Florida after 18 years. He owned and operated several restaurants in the Syracuse area, including the Hackney House. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: His wife of 45 years, the former Patricia Nagel; four daughters, Denise Moore of Syracuse, Cheryle Bracy of Port Charlotte, Fla., Melinda Roth of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Anita Amidon of Marcellus; a son, Michael Fahsel of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Violeta Farah and Tatika Abdo, both of Syracuse; a brother, Sami of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a gunner in Europe and serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of James Harvey Spire American Legion Post 787 of Cicero. Survivors: His wife of 46 years, the former Angeline C. Ruffo; a daughter, Ann M. Millert of Central Square; a son, Dominick of North Syracuse; a brother, Sam of Sun City Center, Fla.; five grandchildren. Dorothy F. Wheeler

Dorothy Fibben Wheeler, 88, of 43 E. Utica St., Oswego, died Saturday at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. Born in Skaneateles, she lived in Phoenix for 40 years and Fulton for 18 years before moving to Oswego three years ago. She graduated from Skaneateles High School in 1931 and Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. She was a registered industrial nurse at Nestle Co. in Fulton and retired in 1978 from E.W. Edwards Department Store. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Fulton and senior citizens clubs in Fulton and Oswego. Her first husband, Edwin L. Potter, died in 1970; her second husband, Charles Wheeler, died in 1987. Survivors: A stepdaughter, Ann Potter of Dundee, Fla.; two stepsons, Terry Wheeler of Virginia and Charles Murphy of Daytona Beach, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. William R. Alford Jr.

William R. Alford Jr., 93, of Largo, Fla., died April 21. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Syracuse in 1943 and lived there until moving to Largo in 1973. He retired in 1973 as director of sales for WSYR Radio and TV after 30 years. He was former president of the Syracuse Advertising Club and the Sales Executive Club. He was a member of Cazenovia Golf Club and Sedgwick Farms Tennis Club. His first wife, Sarah, died in 1979; his second wife, the former Jeanne Webber, died in 2000.Survivors: Four sons, William R. III of Las Cruces, N.M., Richard R. of New York City, Peter H. of Tilton, N.H., and Michael P. of Englewood, Fla.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services: Were in Winston-Salem, N.C. Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, had arrangements.
