Joseph J. Capizzi, 76, of Oswego died Tuesday. He was born in New York City. He retired in 1987 as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Oswego after more than 30 years and was a greeter at Wal-Mart for many years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2320 and a member of American Legion Post 0268. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart. A son, Thomas J., died in 1985.Survivors: His companion, Lillian Stone; two daughters, Karen Capizzi-Gooding of Penfield and Kathy Capizzi-Shookman of Illinois; six grandchildren.
