Born in Rochester, she attended Columbia School, graduated from Emma Willard School, and attended Smith College and the Sorbonne. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Cazenovia, and its Altar Guild. She was a volunteer for the Key in Cazenovia, and a member of the Syracuse Garden Club and the Cazenovia Preservation Foundation. Her husband, George W., died in 1994.Survivors: Two daughters, Sara Thompson Orton of Las Cruces, N.M., and Susan Thompson Woodside of Kingfield, Maine; two sons, Jonathan of Manlius and William H. of Mathews, Va.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
