William "Bill" Shealy, 84, formerly of 527 Salt Springs Road, Syracuse, died Sunday at Jewish Home of Central New York. Born in Columbia, S.C., he graduated from high school in Buffalo and studied electronics at Buffalo Tech. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and retired as a foreman in 1982 after 35 years at Crucible Specialty Metals. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. His wife, Ida, died in 1999. Survivors: Two daughters, Beatrice Cook and Sharon Omobowale Kehinde, both of Syracuse; a sister, Pearl S. Riley of Columbia, S.C.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in Bethany Baptist Church. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garland Bros. Funeral Home, 143 W. Castle St., Syracuse.

Bernadetta C. Zufelt

Bernadetta C. Zufelt, 99, of state Route 3, Fulton, died Tuesday. She was born in Fulton. She retired in 1964 after 30 years at Sealright Packing Co. in Fulton. She was former president of Fulton Chapter 45 Gold Star Mothers of World War II. She was a life member of VFW Post 569 Auxiliary in Fulton and was a member of Fulton Veteran's Council and Volney Senior Citizens. Her husband, Maurice, died in 1947; a daughter, Mary Gleason, and two sons, Henry and Walter, all died previously. Survivors: A son, Norval of Volney; three grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Foster Funeral Home. Burial, Mount Adnah Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Frank A. Eldredge, 82, of Crescent Avenue, Auburn, died Tuesday. Born in Auburn, he graduated from Auburn East High School and Cornell University and received a master's degree from Harvard University. He owned and operated Eldredge Coal & Ice Co. He was a member, former president and and treasuer of Cayuga County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, was an Eagle Scout and received the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member and former trustee of First Presbyterian Church of Auburn. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired in 1980 from the Navy Reserve.Survivors: His wife, the former Nancy Mack; a daughter, Linda M. Ehrich of Syracuse; a son, Frank A. Jr. of Muskegan, Mich.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Services: Private. Burial, St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum, Fleming. No calling hours. Richard J. Bennett Sr., 80, of Cayuga Street, Fulton, died Tuesday. He was born in Fulton. He retired in 1980 as owner and operator of Dick's Atlantic Auto Service Station in Volney. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fulton and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 569 in Fulton. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Bernadette E., died in 1980.Survivors: A daughter, Kim Sears of Margate, Fla.; a son, Richard J. Jr. of Fulton; three grandchildren. John Boyd

John Boyd, 55, of Alpharetta, Ga., died Saturday. Born in Pike Road, Ala., he lived in Syracuse 20 years before moving away in 1994. He graduated from Syracuse University. He retired as a New York police sergeant and had been a Fulton police officer. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.Survivors: His wife, Annie L.; two daughters, Robin Boyd of Nashville and Jabrina Green of Chicago; a son, Jonathan of Columbus, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Stacey Brown of Fayetteville, N.C.; a stepson, Timothy Pierce of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren. Annie W. Robinson Gavone, 96, of 1840 state Route 80, New Woodstock, died Tuesday. She was born in Nova Scotia, Canada. She owned a bakery for several years and was a fork lift operator who loaded live torpedoes onto submarines at the Naval Torpedo Station in Newport, R.I., during World War II. She had also been a farmer, cook and companion to the elderly. Her husband, Henry, died in 1958.Survivors: Two daughters, Mary Johansson of Marlborough, Conn., and Irene Libby of New Woodstock; a son, Henry of Evergreen, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Michael A. Harris, 50, of 416 Fulton St., Hannibal, died Wednesday of cancer. He was a life resident of Hannibal. He retired in 2002 from Huhutamaki Packaging Co., formerly Sealright, in Fulton after 20 years. He was a 20-year member of Hannibal Volunteer Fire Department and participated in motocross racing for many years. His father, Ward E., died in 2000.Survivors: His wife of 24 years, the former Carol M. Born in Chu-Chi, Chekiang Province, China, he attended Central University in China and Soo Chow University in Taiwan and graduated from Chinese Military Academy in China. He retired in 1980 from the post office in Taiwan after 43 years. He was a Chinese veteran of World War II. His wife, Hui-Yuan, died in 2001.Survivors: A daughter, Mei Hsu of Liverpool; four sons, Cheng Larry of Liverpool, Ti Tom of Taiwan, Kan Kenneth of Hayward, Calif., and Fei Philip of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren.
