He had owned and operated Becker's Sunoco in Sempronius. He was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, Homer, and a former communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Moravia. He was a Marine Corps veteran and served as a sergeant from 1956 to 1959. His wife, the former Jeanne Rhodes, died in 2000. Survivors: A half sister, Mikalene Lyon of North Carolina; a half brother, William Becker of Cortland; a stepbrother, George Crannell of Sempronius. A stepsister, Patricia Reimer, died Monday. Chilbert of Baldwinsville, Rosemarie Laun of Pennellville and Maryanne Nash of Liverpool; three sons, Anthony J. and James A., both of Georgia, and Benito Jr. of South Carolina; a sister, Maryann Krisanda of Liverpool; two brothers, Frank B. Howard C. Cushman, 81, of 12 Center St., Fulton, died Monday at Loretto Heights Nursing Home, Oswego. He was born in Maine. He retired in 1982 after 16 years at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Newcastle, Maine. He was a 21-year veteran of the Army and served during World War II and the Korean War. He served for 21 years. Survivors: His wife of 29 years, the former Julie Kush; a daughter, Laurie Caron of Massachusetts; a son, James of Massachusetts; four grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home. He retired in 1989 after 33 years in the sonar engineering department of General Electric Co. He was a Scoutmaster for 25 years with Marcellus Troop 66 Boy Scouts of America. He was a National Ski Patrol national patrolman and did mountaineering training. He trained for disaster preparedness with the American Red Cross. Survivors: His wife, the former Shirley McManus; a daughter, Barbara Hermann of Hopatcong, N.J.; two sons, Edward of Bailey, Colo., and William of Marcellus; a sister, Jean Madden of Camillus; two brothers, John of Camillus and Robert of Casselberry, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. She had worked at Travelers Insurance in Syracuse and sold handbags and hosiery for National Shoes in Syracuse, where she had received a New York State Top Salesperson Award. She was Christian. Her daughter, Lisa E. Frendak, died previously. Survivors: Two sons, Rodney and Todd, both of Skaneateles; a sister, Ruth Scarlata of Wayne, Pa.; two grandchildren. She retired in 1975 from Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. after 45 years and had worked in the customer service and accounting departments. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 43 and Niagara Mohawk Pensioners Club. Rosina V. "Rose" Santoro Spillett, 86, of Geddes died Monday. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Central High School, Syracuse Normal School and Syracuse University. She was a teacher at Solvay Elementary School. She was a communicant of St. Charles of Borromeo Church for 50 years and was a trustee. She volunteered at St. Camillus and was a volunteer usher at the John H. Mulroy Civic Center. She was a tour director of St. Joseph's Guild and was honored in 1999 by the town of Geddes, which designated a day as Rose Spillett Day. Her husband, Robert, died in 1983; a son, James, died in 1989. Survivors: A daughter, Marydee Spillett of New Orleans, La.; three sons, John of Syracuse, David of Clay and Robert Jr. of Fremont, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
