She lived in New Berlin for several years and lived in Ithaca before moving to Aurora in 1992. She moved to Huntington in 2000. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Clark, died in 1992; her son, Thomas C., died in 1954. Survivors: A daughter, Laurie L. Roberts of Aurora; a sister, Iris C. Campbell of Clarinda, Iowa; a brother, Joseph B. Crawford of Stillwater, N.J.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Memorial services: Will be announced. Burial, Arlington Memorial Cemetery. Maebelle Winter

Maebelle Paylor Winter, 83, of 5627 Wager Road, Red Creek, died Tuesday. She was born in Butler. She retired as a nurse's aide at Myers Community Hospital in Sodus. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wolcott, the Humane Society of Wayne County, and South Butler Senior Citizens. She was a volunteer for Wolcott Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps from its inception. Her husband, James R., died previously. Survivors: Two daughters, Sherri Winter of Vista,  Calif., and Darlene Everett of Wolcott; two sons, Patrick and Christopher, both of Wolcott; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Memorial services: 2 p.m. Sunday in First Presbyterian Church, Wolcott. No calling hours. Becker Funeral Home, Red Creek, has arrangements. Ethel A. Braithwaite

Ethel A. Braithwaite, 66, of 420 Kirk Ave., Syracuse, died Wednesday. Born in Biloxi, Miss., she attended Mississippi schools. She was a secretary for 30 years at General Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, where she was a member of the choir. She also was a member of the General Electric 25 Year Club. Survivors: Her husband, Joseph M. Sr.; two daughters, Linda M. Braithwaite and Sheri B. Edwards, both of Syracuse; two sons, Joseph M. Jr. of Syracuse and Christopher D. of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Gloria Coleman of Pensacola, Fla.; a brother, Gene R. Massey of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Grace C. Ackerman Doran, 83, of 233 Park Ave., Oneida, died Friday at Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility. Born in Constableville, she attended Turin schools. She was a member of Belles and Beaux square dancers of Oneida. Survivors: Her husband of 61 years, Dennis F. Sr.; a daughter, Sharon Doran of Grand Prairie,  Texas; two sons, Dennis F. Jr. and William, both of Oneida; two sisters, Beverly Bronson of West Leyden and Ann Brown of Talcottville; a brother, Fay Ackerman Jr. of Constableville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Mattie T. Hall, 82, of 1 Franklin Square, Syracuse, died Monday. Born in Anniston, Ala., she lived in Syracuse since 1972. She attended Alabama schools. She retired in 1989 after 17 years at Castle Rest Nursing Home. She was a former member of Fourteenth Street Church, Anniston. Her husband, Eugene, died previously. William T. Van Scoyk

William T. Van Scoyk, 82, of 720 Tully St., Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Utica, he lived 30 years in Auburn before moving to Syracuse. He was a graduate of Auburn High School. He worked at John Deere Co. and Marsellus Casket Co. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart. His wife, Adela, died in 1990. Survivors: A daughter, Patricia Trexler of Baldwinsville; a son, Ronald of Eastwood; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. Services and calling hours: Private. James E. Sullivan

James E. Sullivan, 75, of Manlius died Dec. 10. He was born in Boston. He was owner of W.E. Daw Co., Syracuse. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville, where he was an usher. He was a founding member of the National Electrical Manufacturing Representatives Association and a member of the Cavalry Club, Manlius. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. His wife of 47 years, Madeline, died in October. Survivors: A daughter, Pamela Sullivan of Fayetteville; a son, Stuart of Fayetteville; a sister, Marylynn Sullivan of Quincy, Mass.; two grandchildren. Services: Were in Boston. Leona E. Marsh Walowsky, 80, of Tally Ann Drive, Tallahassee, Fla., formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday. Born in Cayuga, she lived most of her life in the Auburn area before moving to Florida in 1999. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Tallahassee. Her husband, Michael, died in 1999; a son, Michael, died in 1987. Survivors: Three daughters, Sandra Blair-Anderson of Tallahassee; Betty Beardsley of Tifton, Ga.; and Mary Wheaton of Auburn; three sons, David Walowsky of Nedrow, Dennis Walowsky of Auburn and Douglas Marsh of Ohio; a sister, Genevieve Walker of Auburn; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Norma Mae Chambers Brooks, 60, of 6030 Manley Drive, Red Creek, died Monday. She was born in Heuvelton. She worked at Electromart in Wolcott and was a member of North Wolcott Christian Church. Her husband, Harlan, died previously. Survivors: Her companion of 15 years, Gordon Kingsley; two sons, James of Tulsa, Okla., and Randy of Amalia, La.; three stepdaughters, Deb Smith, Denise Wallon and Shari Holland; three stepsons, Jeff, Steve and Jim Kingsley; six sisters, Ida Cummings of Brasher Falls, Agnes Perry and Sharon Spicer, both of Ogdensburg, Eleanor James and Rosemary Simmons, both of Heuvelton, and Gloria Mills of Watertown; five brothers, Burton and Leon Chambers, both of Ogdensburg, Howard and Richard Chambers, both of Potsdam, and Fredrick Chambers of Massachusetts; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one stepgreat-grandchild. Jesus "Tio" Caquais, 72, of 225 W. Ostrander Ave., Syracuse, died Wednesday. Born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico, he came to Syracuse in 1988 following his retirement after more than 20 years as a foundry worker in Chicago. He attended St. Anthony's and St. Lucy's Roman Catholic churches. Survivors: Two sisters, Miquelina Martinez-Caquais of Syracuse and Hilda Caquais of Puerto Rico. Lucy Spara Costanzo, 74, formerly of Canastota, died Wednesday. Born in Canastota, she lived there many years before moving to Bryan, Ohio, in 1972 and lived at a Hilliard, Ohio, nursing home when she died. She graduated from Canastota High School in 1946. She retired in 1992 from Elder Pharmaceuticals in Bryan after 17 years. She was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. Her husband of 45 years, James H., died in 1995. Survivors: Four sons, Scott of Hilliard, Michael of Bryan, James Jr. of Templeton,  Calif., and John of Ashley, Ind.; a sister, Mary Kobus of Webster; six grandchildren. Richard G. Dower

Richard G. Dower, 86, of State Street, Skaneateles, died Monday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Syracuse University in 1937. He was an aviator, established the first commercial helicopter service in Central New York and was a captain for Eastern Airlines. He was a trustee of Syracuse University Alumni Association. He was a former consultant with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and a member of Adirondack Advisory Council. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a squadron commander and pilot in the Pacific, and retired in 1965 as a commander of the Navy Reserve. Survivors: Two daughters, Mirielle Verley of Skaneateles and Kristina Webb of New Orleans; two sons, Richard G. II of Milton, Mass., and Gary L. of Skaneateles; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Robert D. Gray Funeral Home. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse. Elbridge H. Kinne, 88, of Cortland Care Center, Cortland, died Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Fayetteville many years. He graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended Syracuse University. He retired in 1978 as a purchasing agent after 35 years at Lipe Rollway Bearing Co. He was a member of DeWitt Community Church and active on its building committee. He served in New York Troop K of the National Guard. Survivors: His wife of 59 years, the former Myra Kimbrell; a daughter, Elizabeth K. Luke of De Ruyter; a son, Elbridge K. of Fayetteville; a sister, Marion Ruby of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home. Emma "Ma" McKenzie, 86, of 364 W. Matson Ave., Syracuse, died Saturday. She was born in Birmingham, Ala. She attended public schools and received certification as an EKG technician from University Hospital. She retired in 1982 as an EKG technician after 14 years with Syracuse Community Health Center. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and The Circle 3. She was president of CSEA local at the Syracuse Community Health Center and a senior companion at Syracuse Developmental Center. Survivors: Three daughters, Brenda McKenzie and Shirley  White, both of Syracuse, and Helen Robinson of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, John W. of Canandaigua and Roosevelt Freeman of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters, Myrtle Dixon of Lithonia, Ga., Beatrice Williams of Philadelphia, Pa., and Marinda Martin of Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Dorothy G. Walker Simmons, 83, of 2289 Amber Road, Marietta, died Tuesday. Born in Kirkville, she graduated from Minoa High School and lived in Marietta most of her life. She was a switchboard operator for Hutchings Psychiatric Center in Syracuse for six years and retired in 1983 after 25 years at Reuben H. Donnelly Corp. She also operated Otisco Lake Marina for several years and was a member of Tanner Valley Golf Course. Survivors: Two sons, William J. and Wayne G., both of Marietta; a sister, Grace Thorpe of Camden; two brothers, Charles Walker of Cicero and William Walker of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren; one great-grandson. Her first husband, Ralph Oursler, died in 1963; her second husband, George Stewart, died in 1971.
