ROCHESTER — Committal services for Helen D. Johnson, 102, who was formerly of Cooperstown Junction, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Glenwood Cemetery in Oneonta, with the Rev. Rodney Johnson officiating.

Arrangements are by the Heller Funeral Home, 25 Arch St., Schenevus.

Borghild (Betty) Wust

EDMESTON — Graveside committal services for Betty Wust, who died Feb. 18, 2003, will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at the Edmeston Union Cemetery in Edmeston.

Arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.

William Wust

EDMESTON — Graveside committal services for William Wust, who died Dec. 20, 2002, will be held 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, at the Edmeston Union Cemetery in Edmeston.

Arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.

Robert J. Virtell

MILFORD — Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Robert J. Virtell to be held on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at noon in the Wilber Park in Milford.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Joan A. Hallock

GILBOA — Interment services for Joan A. Hallock will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 11 a.m. in Flat Creek Cemetery, Gilboa.

Mrs. Hallock died on Jan. 29, 2003.

Arrangements are by the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh, and the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill.

Alice Dugan

GILBOA — Interment services for Alice Dugan will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Flat Creek Cemetery, Gilboa.

Mrs. Dugan died on Jan. 28, 2003.

Arrangements are by the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh, and the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill.

George W. Holdredge

ONEONTA — George W. Holdredge died Tuesday, May 26, 2003, at his home.

He was born in Oxford on July 26, 1919, the son of Benjamin Franklin Holdredge and Mary Ann (Willcox) Holdredge.

He married Neva I. (LaRock) Holdredge, who survives, on Aug. 27, 1945. They lived in Guilford for 52 years before moving to Oneonta in June 2000.

George graduated from Norwich High School in 1937. He took flying lessons at Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich and was the first student to solo with Paul Engard. He became a pilot/instructor for the U.S. Air Force during World War II at the Flight Training School in Roanoke, Va. Upon his return, he continued to fly from Sidney and surrounding areas.

He retired from Amphenol in Sidney, in August 1986, after 41 years as a tool and dye maker in the Experimental Department.

Over the years, he enjoyed many hobbies including photography, coin collecting, model radio-control airplane building and competition, and flower and vegetable gardening.

After retirement, he became active in Delchenago Gun Club and designed and helped in the construction of new skeet houses.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Brenda J. Tallman and her husband, Roger, South Carolina, Jill E. Filow and her husband, Kenneth, G. Thomas Holdredge and his wife, Loretta A., Oneonta, and Beth A. Lembo and her husband, David, Oneonta; grandchildren include, Lisa A. Royce and her husband, Michael, Ohio, Matthew P. Filow, Philip T. Holdredge, Oneonta, and Cassandra M. Lembo, Oneonta; and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn J. and Cameron J. Royce, Ohio.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Frances, who died at birth.

Friends may call at the Robert J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich, from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2003. Funeral services will follow, conducted by Father Glenn Mahaffey, Rector of Emmanuel Episopal Church, Norwich.

Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich, at the convenience of the family.

Those wishing to celebrate George's life could do so by making a contribution to their local SPCA or by planting a flower, bush or tree in a spot that is special to them.

Charles E. Osborn

MILFORD — Mr. Charles E. Osborn, 86, of Milford died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born in Cassville, on May 17, 1917, son of Edwin J. and Myrtle (Neer) Osborn.

Charley was a graduate of Milford High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 23rd General Hospital in Africa, Italy and France.

On Dec. 30, 1946, he married Helen Elsie Bohm in Yonkers.

He operated the Milford Market and Milford Locker Service with his father and later with his wife, Helen for many years. Charley also worked at the Homestead for nine years, taught at BOCES for three years and worked at the Baseball Hall of Fame for several years.

Charley was an avid baseball fan, he enjoyed cooking and baking, and spending time with his best friend, Gerry Gray, of the Milford Bowling Alley.

He was a longtime member of the Milford Fire Department, a charter member of the Milford Emergency Squad, a charter member of the Milford Rotary Club, a life member of the Milford Post American Legion, having served as Post Commander as well as the County Commander, a life member of the Schenevus V.F.W. Post No. 2752, a life member of the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow, a member of the Executive Board of the Otschodela Council of the Boy Scouts of America, a member and elder of the Milford Presbyterian Church and a member of the New York State Teachers Association.

Charley is survived by a sister, Alma Tormey of Daytona Beach, Fla., a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Sheila Osborn; a grandson and his wife, Cory and Elizabeth Osborn; a great-grandson, Blade Osborn; and a stepgranddaughter, Shelly Annas, all of Saratoga County; and his food friend, Barbara Buriello of Milford.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helen; a brother-in-law, Max Tormey; a sister and her husband, Celia and Joseph Bergen; as well as his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Milford United Methodist Church in Milford, with the Rev. John Young of Schuyler Lake officiating. Committal and military services will follow in the Milford Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 30, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Milford, when the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to the Milford American Legion, West Main Street, Milford, N.Y. 13807.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Angeline T. Proctor

HARTWICK — Mrs. Angeline T. Proctor, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at The Meadows, where she had lived the past few years.

Prior to The Meadows, she lived with her son and daughter-in-law for several years in Hartwick.

She was born on March 12, 1918, in Willard, Wis., a daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Hacin) Pestar. On Dec. 31, 1939, she married Claude Proctor.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; and a grandson.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Proctor Sr., and their children, Tammy, David Jr., Kristy and William Proctor, all of Hartwick; a daughter, Virginia Montrose of Pamona, and her daughter and husband, Deborah and Peter Statts of Schenevus.

A memorial service will be held at the Hartwick Christian Church on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Laverne Saxer pastor officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in the Hartwick Cemetery in Hartwick.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Eugene F. Freville

MORRIS — Eugene F. Freville, 82, of Morris died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at his home.

He was born April 20, 1921, in Brooklyn, the son of Eugene W. and Catherine (Ochs) Freville.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marion (Lund) Freville, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1944. He is also survived by two sons, Gene Freville of Vancouver, Wash., and Alan Freville of Mayville; one sister, Doris Strunk of Commack; one niece; and five grandsons.

Eugene was a former heavy equipment and truck mechanic while living in Jericho, and upon retirement in 1979, moved to Morris.

Eugene's interests included woodworking and gardening. Many of his intarsia pieces have been given as gifts to friends and relatives.

Eugene and Marion supported the community through the Meals on Wheels program.

Calling hours will be today at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral service to start at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Robert McKay officiating. Committal services and burial will be in Hillington Cemetery in Morris.

Friends are asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Morris Emergency Squad or the Morris Public Library in Eugene's memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Malcolm E. Johnson

BLOOMVILLE — Malcolm E. Johnson, 82, of Bloomville passed away at home late Tuesday evening, surrounded by family, following a long illness.

He was born the son of Elwin and Eva (Maxam) Johnson on June 4, 1920, in Halcott Center.

He married Dorothy E. Hitt in Bloomville on June 4, 1944.

A devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He spent many hours hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. He was a longtime member of the NRA and was a self-employed farmer and carpenter for many years.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Linda Burdick and friend, Dean of Bloomville, and Sue and George Skog, also of Bloomville; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Johnson of Delhi. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Amy, Joe and Bill Burdick and Stacy, Erik and Matt Skog, all of Bloomville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

His son, Lynn A. Johnson of Delhi; son-in-law, Thomas W. Burdick of Bloomville; brother, Leland and wife, Marge; brother, Hillis and wife, Angie; and sister, Sylvia and husband, Clyde predeceased him.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home in Delhi. The family will be in attendance in the evening.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2003, with the Rev. Linda Wilson officiating, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care or the Bloomville Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Ernest Littlejohn

RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Ernest Littlejohn, 92, of Cary Park Road, entered into eternal rest on Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2003, in his home after a brief illness.

He was born on March 22, 1911, in Elbow, Sasketchewan, Canada, a son of the late James J. and Euphemia (Smith) Littlejohn.

He was raised and educated in Deposit, N.Y., where he graduated high school. In 1932, he married Esther M. Linkroum in Newburg. They shared a loving and devoted union of 70 years until her passing on June 30, 2002.

Growing up on a dairy farm, he took over the family farm in Deposit. He later owned and operated a dairy farm in Sidney, retiring in 1964. He then owned and operated a trailer park in Norwich. During that time he also worked for McGregor's Lumber Mill in Smyrna, retiring in 1978.

After his retirement he and his wife enjoyed traveling. His leisure time was spent reading and walking. He lived life to the fullest.

He was a devoted husband and father. He gloried in the presence of his family and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by three daughters, Kathryn Senko and her husband, Andrew, of Richfield Springs, Margaret Stead and her husband, Philip, of Underhill Center, Vt., Elizabeth Littlejohn of Bailey, Colo.;

seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and his wife, Esther, he was preceded in death by his brother and five sisters.

The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m.

A memorial service will follow the calling hour on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. William Harkins, Pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, will officiate.

Interment in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Deposit, will take place on Wednesday.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

William S. Dickison

BURLINGTON FLATS — A committal service and burial, with full military honors, for William Sidney Dickison, 68, of Burlington Flats, who died Jan. 1, 2003, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2003, in Hartwick Seminary Cemetery with the Rev. Douglas S. Burliegh, Chaplain of Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Christina White Dewey

EDMESTON — A resident of Pathfinder Village in Edmeston, N.Y., since 1988, Christina W. Dewey, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at Chase Memorial

Nursing Home in New Berlin, N.Y.

A daughter of the late Raymond E. And Esther (Hamilton) Dewey, Tina was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Shelby, Ohio.

Survivors include a brother, Raymond A. Dewey of East Haddam, Conn.; two sisters, Doris Roth (Mrs. Courtney) of Renton, Wash., and Louise Shoemaker (Mrs. E.C.) of Bolton Landing, N.Y.; eight nieces and nephews; and her friends at Pathfinder Village.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in the Morgan-Jackson All Faiths Chapel at Pathfinder Village in Edmeston.

For those who wish to do so, the family suggests a donation be made in Tina's memory to the Pathfinder Village Scholarship Fund.

Interment of cremains will be at Oakland Cemetery in Shelby, Ohio. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home of Edmeston, and the Barkdull Funeral Home of Shelby, Ohio.
