He was the former owner of the Dawley House in Sylvan Beach. He was a 31-year member of the board of directors for the Syracuse SkyChiefs. He was one of the original Heids Boys. His wife, Joan M., died in 2000. Survivors: Three daughters, Glennda J. Ciciarelli, Deborah J. Dawley and Michele L. Olon, all of Liverpool; a son, Robert F. of Liverpool; 13 grandchildren. Services: 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at Maurer Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Church. Burial, Liverpool Cemetery. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, 300 Second St., Liverpool.

Joyce A. Keener DeFranco, 73, of Cincinnati, died Saturday. She was born in Syracuse. She was a librarian for St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Her husband, Anthony J., died in 1987. Anita Frances Fletcher, 86, formerly of Woodwind Apartments, Syracuse, died at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre, Syracuse. She was born in Syracuse. She retired in 1978 after 15 years as a postal worker at the North Syracuse Postal Service facility. She was a member of Postal Workers Union Local. Her husband, Walter, died in 1969. Survivors: A daughter, Doreen Coldren of Liverpool; two sons, Richard of West Monroe and Leslie of Liverpool; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: Private. Vernon A. Peterson, 78, of 5145 Summer Gate Drive, Charlotte, N.C., died Sunday. He was born in Pulaski and attended Pulaski schools. He lived in Sandy Pond from 1954 to 1979 and Cranberry Lake from 1979 to 2000. He and his wife owned and operated Cranberry Lake Wildcliffe Lodge for 21 years. He owned V.A. Peterson Contracting at Sandy Pond for 25 years. His wife, the former Barbara J. Quinlan, died in 1997. A son, Charles E., died in 1972. Survivors: Five daughters, Joanne Dupont of Pulaski, Lynn Rivers of Greenville, S.C., Vicki Leach of Raleigh, N.C., Vi Guenthner of Altmar and Sue Whittier of Charlotte; five sons, Vernon R. of Charlotte, Alan L. of Minoa, Cecil E. of Tupper Lake, Stanley D. and Steven D., both of Atlanta; a sister, Viola McKeon of Lakeland, Fla.; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a life member and former commissioner of Durhamville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the American Legion Munnsville Post. He was a member of Oneida Limited Retirement Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Nellie Evans, died in 2000. Survivors: A daughter, Jacqueline Rolewicz of Blossvale; a son, Timothy of Scotia; a sister, Rosalind Rauscher of Fayetteville; a brother, Eugene of Newcomb; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. She retired in 1973 as secretary to the comptroller of Onondaga Savings Bank after 20 years. She was a charter and life member of Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a 64-year communicant of St. Daniel's Church in Lyncourt and a member of its Wisdom Group. She was a member of Mattydale Senior Citizens and Onondaga Savings Bank retirees "Retreaders." Her husband, Stuart C., died in 1955; a daughter, Joan Barlow, died in 1974. Survivors: A daughter, Marilyn M. Barlow of Cicero; a son, S. He was a correctional officer in the Arizona State Correctional System and a former member of St. Patrick's Church in Jordan.
