Shirley's children and grandchildren were a major part of her life. They were a joy. Her life was full. She was a teacher, mother and grandmother. She loved the mountains. She enjoyed the sea. It was a pleasure for her to be in our flower garden. Shirley was my mentor, my rudder, my steering engine. She had her hand on the tiller, eye on the compass, every mile of the way.
