After a long, fulfilling and productive life she rejoined her beloved husband, Pat, after only a five-week separation.

Anne was born on June 17, 1916, in Clifton, N.J., daughter of the late Michael and Helen Kovban Filipovich. Her family moved to this area in 1922, and began farming.

Anne graduated as class valedictorian from the Schuyler Lake School in 1933. She then attended the Albany Normal School, graduated from Mildred Elley School and worked in Albany as a highly valued legal secretary from 1936 until 1942. At that time she returned home to care for her mother and help run the family farm with her father and brother.

In 1945, she met a sweet and somewhat shy young man, Albert P. Yourno, who bought the farm across the road. They were married on Nov. 20, 1948, in Herkimer. Together as full partners they continued a thriving dairy operation and cattle dealing business until just a few years ago. Her husband, Albert, preceded Anne in death on July 21, 2003.

She is survived by her cherished son, James of Hartwick; her adored daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and John Breen of Lake Luzerne, and Ann Marie and William Lewicki of Otego; a brother, Michael and his wife, Eloise of Skaneateles; a sister, Dorothy Foxx of Florida; a dear nephew, Vito Yourno and his wife, Beverly of Sauquoit; and two cousins, Martha Chomjak and Olga Noar of Illinois.

Deeply intelligent, observant and perceptive, Anne took a keen interest in the world around her. She loved people and delighted in hearing about their lives and discussing virtually any topic with them. Anne was especially knowledgeable and articulate about current events, politics, health issues and economics, but she was always eager to learn more about any subject that arose. She read voraciously and widely, did her daily crossword puzzle religiously, was a proud and avid organic gardener, enjoyed cooking healthy and creative meals, and kept meticulous financial records, mementos and journals of daily activities for the family.

Anne was a true helpmate to her husband, a source of unwavering support to her children, and a generous and charming friend to others. Her determination, positive spirit, and giving nature will continue to be an inspiration to those she loved so well and whom she brought such joy.

A woman of great spirituality and faith, Anne was a devoted member of Christ Episcopal Church, Cooperstown, where her Funeral with Holy Eucharist will be held on Saturday Aug. 30, 2003, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Douglas C. Smith, Rector, officiating. Following the service, Anne will be laid to rest in the Fly Creek Cemetery.

We are deeply thankful to that organization for their invaluable help and guidance during this difficult time. The family, especially Barbara and Ann, would like also to express our profound gratitude to the third and fourth floor staff of Bassett Healthcare for their compassionate and loving care of our mother and of us during these last five weeks.
