Carlton L. Yanson

CORBETT — Carlton Lloyd Yanson, 70, of Corbett, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Walton, the son of Carlton and Blanche (Farquaharson) Yanson.

Carl grew up in Sidney but spent a lot of time at his grandfather's farm in Sidney Center.

He attended Sidney Central School. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.

On July 5, 1986, Carl married Joyce Long in Downsville.

He worked for Olan Mills and then he was self employed in the mobile home/modular home and cemetery monument business.

Carl played for the Oneonta Indians, a semi-pro football team. He enjoyed hunting and being in the outdoors, all sports, making homemade wine and sauerkraut, and most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Carl will be remembered for his great sense of humor and was always quick to share the latest joke or story with his friends. His grandson's college roommates looked forward to receiving e-mails from gramps.

He was a member of the Lions Club of Downsville, the VFW in Sidney as well as the Elks Club in Sidney where he was a past exalted ruler.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Yanson, of Downsville; two daughters and their husbands, Kim and Mike Anderson of Guilford and Karla and Steve West of Franklin; five grandchildren, Justin and Trisha Anderson of Guilford, Kerri West of New Britain, Conn., and Zachary and Emily West of Franklin; his stepmother, Olga Yanson of Albany; his half sister, Cindy; and two half brothers, John and Christopher.

Carl was predeceased by his parents and a son, Dennis Yanson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, at the funeral home with the possibility of an Elks service.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, 102 Delaware St., Walton with the Rev. Raymond L. Donahue officiating.

Burial will follow in the Walton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to either Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or to the American Cancer Society, 31 Adams Ave, Endicott, NY 13760, in loving memory of Carlton Lloyd Yanson.

Funeral arrangements are by Lyon Bros.-Way Inc. Funeral Home, Walton.

Gerard F. Erbacher

FRANKLIN — Gerard F. (Chuck) Erbacher died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, in his home in rural Franklin.

He was born July 14, 1929, to Francis and Virginia Murray Blanchard.

Chuck worked for Grummon Aerospace in Beth Page, Long Island, for 34 years, as an assembly worker.

Chuck was a member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Walton and a member of Squadron Models, where he pursued his hobby of model airplanes. He was also artistic in painting and drawing and used his artistic talents in other arts and crafts and woodworking projects.

He was a collector of anything that might be useful in the future for any of his craft projects. He was a sports fan, with the Yankees being his favorite team.

Chuck was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Pauline.

Survivors include a sister, Helen Kazanecki of Englewood, Fla.; three nieces, Kim and husband Roger Toth of Northport, Fla., Karrie Kazanecki and Jill Kazanecki of Englewood, Fla.; two great-nephews; and his extended care-giving family, Margie and Dotty, Maria and Gregg, Kathy and Steve, Donna and Steve, Peggy and Walt, Charlie and Karen, Jimmy and Linda, Paula and Linda; and all his little ones.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lyon Bros.-Way Funeral Home, Walton, with the family present. A rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. and a Mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church.

Interment will be in Walton Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Lyon Bros.-Way Funeral Home, Walton.

Bernice Koetzner

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. — Bernice Gibson Koetzner, 92, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at Foothill Acres Nursing Home.

She was born in Franklin and formerly lived in Delaware County. She moved to New Jersey and lived in North Plainfield and Bridgewater before moving to Hillsborough four years ago with her daughter, Geneva (Ginny) DeMarco.

Bernice was employed at the Scintilla Company in Sidney. Upon moving to New Jersey, she was employed at RCA in Bridgewater, and then with the Somerset County Nutrition Center in Warren.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Somerville and S.A.I.L. She was a former member of the Trinity Reformed Church in North Plainfield.

Bernice enjoyed reading in her spare time.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis W. Stewart; and her second husband, George Koetzner.

She is survived by a daughter, Geneva (Ginny) DeMarco; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Stewart and Marie Griffen; two grandchildren, JoAnne Waller Mills and Barbara Mazzagatti; and six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Carolyn and Megan Waller and Michelle, Dominic and Rocco Mazzagatti.

Interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, 162 Main St., Franklin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Adult Day Center of Somerset County, 120 Finderne Ave., Suite 102, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

Everett VanDeBogart

WEST ONEONTA — Everett VanDeBogart, 77, of West Oneonta, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, peacefully at home.

He was born in Delhi, on Aug. 8, 1926, the son of the late Everett and Mildred Summerville VanDeBogart.

Ed was an excavating contractor and owner of E. VanDeBogart Inc. for more than 40 years. He loved his work as much as he loved to travel and snowmobile.

Ed is survived by his wife, Dorothy; four children, Kim and her husband, Roger, Gilbertson, Barbara and her husband, Scott, Mednansky, Butch VanDeBogart, and Sue and her husband, Ron, Cower; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many close and dear friends.

Funeral services for Ed will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edward Carlson officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, when the family will be in attendance.

Those who wish may make contributions to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Funeral arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

Ruth M. Burrows

UNADILLA — Ruth M. Burrows, 92, of Unadilla and Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at The Hospital in Sidney.

She was born June 24, 1911, in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Frank and Blanche (Edick) Palmer.

Ruth married Harvey A. Burrows on March 18, 1933. He predeceased her in September of 1992.

Ruth resided in Unadilla, as guest to Carl and Lola Pomeroy; there she was a member of the Unadilla Happy Times Club.

In Florida, she was a member of the Zephyrhills Tourist Club for 38 years.

She is survived by her nephews, Grant Palmer Jr., Douglas Palmer, Harvey Alford, Harold Alford, Robert Burrows and Ken Burrows; and her nieces, Jean Coones, Althea Rutenber and Sandra Picket.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Grant Palmer Sr. and Otis Palmer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. Michael Amos, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Unadilla, officiating. Friends may call beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Unadilla Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Beryl B. George

HONESDALE, Pa. — Beryl Barbara George, 73, of 637 Parks St., Honesdale, Pa., passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, Sept. 19, 2003, at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.

She was born June 19, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Mich., the daughter of the late Rolla B. and Neta A. Hoye Brown.

On March 15, 1954, she married Edwin L. George. He predeceased her on Aug. 16, 1988.

Mrs. George had been a resident of Honesdale since 1990, and was formerly of Lansing, and Mount Upton.

Beryl was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Honesdale, and the women's organization of her church. She was a volunteer with the Honesdale Library and schools. She was also available to assist anyone in need within her community.

Mrs. George was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and caring friend.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas Bridges of Roanoke, Va.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Jill George of Honesdale, Pa., Gregory and Lisa George of Syracuse, and Christopher and Gwenda George of West Camp; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Faye Brown of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral chapel Tuesday with her family in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with her pastor, the Rev. Mark E. Heiner of the First Baptist Church, Honesdale, officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Upton.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Honesdale, with the Rev. Mark E. Heiner, pastor, officiating.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 206 Twelfth Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.

Randy D. Bolster

AFTON — Randy D. Bolster, 43, of Afton, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born March 1, 1960, son of the late Clarence R. and June M. Smith Bolster in Sidney.

Randy attended Afton Central School and was employed by the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney for many years.

He was loved by many and will be sorely missed, especially by his family.

He is survived by his two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and David Riley, Afton, and Cathy and Richard Henry, Afton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Bolster, Afton, and Rodney and Theresa Bolster, Afton; loving nieces and nephews, Wendy and Mike Stulir, Afton, Brenda and Wade Decker, Afton, Julie Scott and Tim Coughlin, Lance and Ginger Henry, Afton, Richard and Jakena Henry, Unadilla, Anthony Morin and Kristine Goshea; very special great-nieces and -nephews, Caleb Stulir, Connor Decker, Hailee Simonds, Corbin, Raven, Owen Henry and Victoria Henry.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Afton Historical Society, P.O. Box 18, Afton, NY 13730.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.

Francis DiJiulio

DeLANCEY — Francis (Frank) DiJiulio, 44, beloved son, husband, father and brother, passed away unexpectedly Saturday night, Sept. 20, 2003, near his home in Arcadia, Fla.

Frank, formerly of DeLancey, and also known as "Dusty" to family and friends, was born Feb. 27, 1959, in Albany, the son of Margaret "Maggie" (James) and Frank DiJiulio of DeLancey. He graduated from Delaware Academy, Delhi, in 1977.

In 1979, Frank married the former Donna Jean Ordmandy, daughter of Regina and the late William Ordmandy, also of DeLancey. Shortly after their marriage, Frank and Donna moved to Florida where they made their home in Arcadia and raised two beautiful children, Melissa Jean, 24, and Dustin James, 18.

While in Florida, Frank entered the medical supply business and became employed by the Medical Department Store in Venice. Over the past 21 years as co-owner and manager, Frank brought his business expertise to the improvement and expansion of the company, which is now a major medical supplier throughout the state. At the time of his death, Frank and Donna were about to enter a new life venture. They had laid the groundwork for a land development business in the mountains of western North Carolina and planned to build a new home there.

During his life, Frank was a highly regarded member of his community. He was a member of the DeSoto County Adult Athletic Softball Assn. and a popular Little League football coach. Frank was also an avid sportsman, and with his family, enjoyed white-water rafting, fishing, camping, boating and golf.

Although Frank and Donna enjoyed the hot, sunny Florida weather, they both missed the beauty of the fields and mountains of their native home. Each year they brought their family here to visit their parents, relatives and friends in DeLancey. Frank and Donna even taught their children to snow-ski here during several winter visits.

Frank (Dusty) will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Donna J. DiJiulio and son, Dustin, at home; his daughter, Melissa J. DiJiulio, and loving friend, Blaine Baer, of Lincolnton, N.C.; his parents of DeLancey; three brothers, Michael and James, of Walton, and Mark DiJiulio, of Worcester, Mass.; his mother-in-law, Regina Ordmandy, of DeLancey; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Friends are invited to call 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, when the family will be in attendance. Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bert More officiating.

Private burial will follow, and Frank will be laid to rest in the Hamden Cemetery.

In Frank's memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware County ARC, Hamden, NY 13782

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
