He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1975, St. Alphonsus Church and the Utopia Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star. Survivors: His wife of 30 years, the former Olive Payne; a daughter, Michelle Coad of Syracuse; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Roy of Auburn; a stepson, John Rancier of Cayuga; a sister, Julia McGeever of Auburn; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen M.  Taylor Sovay, 88, of Pitcher Hill, North Syracuse, died Tuesday at Birchwood Health Care Center in Liverpool. Born on Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada, she was raised in Watertown and lived at Pitcher Hill Apartments for 21 years. She retired in 1975 after 30 years as a clerk in the cafeteria of General Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Her husband, Rudolph J., died in 1957; a son, Robert J., died in 1954. Survivors: A daughter, Beverly Sovay House of Camillus; a son, Rudolph J. Jr. of Star Lake; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter. Services: 5 p.m. Sunday at Fergerson Funeral Home. Burial, Assumption Cemetery. Howard J. Bishop, 74, of Cicero died Saturday at Sunnyside Health Center. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1987 after 37 years as an electrician with General Electric Co. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Beverly, died in 2000. Survivors: Two daughters, Kathleen E. Bradbury-Reynolds of Clay and Pamela J. Bishop of Central Square; two sons, Howard B. of Oswego and Kenneth E. of Cicero; a sister, June Dobson of Syracuse; a brother, Harvey of Kirkville; six grandchildren. Belva E. Kenyon Coon, 81, formerly of 2127 Route 1, Oswego, died Saturday at Loretto Heights Nursing Home. Born in  Texas, she attended Mexico schools. She was employed for 16 years with Sealright Packaging Co. in Fulton. Her husband, Floyd, died in 1966. A daughter, Darlene Pittsley, died in 1999. Survivors: Two daughters, Audrey Cliff of Scriba and Judith Cleary of Fulton; two sons, Richard and Robert, both of Syracuse; 16 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Donald A. Hull

Donald A. Hull, 70, of 4996 Route 365, Verona, died Saturday at Oneida Healthcare Center. Born in Utica, he graduated from Chadwicks High School and SUNY Morrisville. He retired in 1989 as a supervisor in the gas department of Niagara Mohawk. He owned and operated Don Hull & Son Sales, an outdoor power equipment company founded in 1969. He was a past fire chief and past president of the Verona Fire Department and a communicant of Verona Methodist Church. He was the Verona fire commissioner for 25 years. Survivors: His wife of 48 years, the former Elmina Filey; a daughter, Suzanne Geer of Verona; two sons, Donald A. Sr. of Rome and Jeffery W. of Verona; his mother, Dorothy Hull of Oriskany; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell-Dean Funeral Home. Earl Thomas Skilinski, 74, of 287 George Road, Mexico, died Saturday. He was born in Palermo. He was a consultant for North End Paper Mill for more than 50 years. He was a special sheriff's deputy for the Oswego County Sheriff's Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Mexico VFW and American Legion posts. He was a food pantry volunteer. His first wife, the former Margaret Gifford, died in 1992. A son, Robert, died previously. Survivors: His wife, the former Barbara Burnham; a daughter, Veronica Peterson of New Haven; four sons, Donald of Mexico, Michael of Alabama, David of California and Earl Jr. of Florida; two stepdaughters, Jean Parker of Scriba and Mary Ann Kosbob of Oswego; four sisters, Ethel Burdick of Mexico, Irene Geremiski of Syracuse, Helen Sutherland of Phoenix and Mary Skilinski of Niagara Falls; a brother, Lewis Skilinski of Mexico; three half sisters, Pearl Cone and Catherine Hedden, both of Florida, and Joetta Ragland of California; two half brothers, Joseph Skilinski of Scriba and Thomas Skilinski of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church. He was a member of the Knights of St. John and the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Marguerite Lower, died in 1999. Survivors: Two daughters, Catherine Clifford of Syracuse and Margaret Mary Swartz of Auburn; a son, Henry T. She was a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church and a volunteer with the Onondaga County Victim's Witness Program and the county's District Attorney's Office. Her husband, James P., died in 1969. Survivors: A daughter, Mary Jane Cooney of Syracuse; two sons, James P. Jr. of Harleysville, Pa., and Thomas E. of Chittenango; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
