Amy C. Lout

ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Amy C. Lout, 45, of St. Cloud, passed away on Nov. 26, 2003, at home with her family.

Amy lived in Florida the past 18 years.

She attended school in Davenport and graduated from Charlotte Valley Central High School in 1975. She was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

She is survived by her parents, Howard and Shirley Lout of St. Cloud, Fla.; brothers, David Lout of Maryland and Carey Lout of Florida; nieces, Erin, Ashley, Danielle and Stephany; and nephew, David Lout II.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Howard N. Lout Jr.

She will be laid to rest in Davenport at a later date.

Joan E. Kubis

MIDDLEFIELD — Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Kubis, 74, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at her home.

She was born in Cooperstown on Jan. 7, 1929, a daughter of Owen and Florence Murphy.

In 1948, she married Andrew Kubis and lived on their farm in Middlefield.

She is survived by her husband, Andrew, and her children and their spouses, Susan and Clinton Young, Mark and Barbara Kubis, Steven and Rose Kubis, Phillip and Janette Kubis; six grandchildren, Eric and Allison Kubis, Jeff and Ashley Young, Avalon and Phillip Kubis. She is also survived by one brother, William Murphy of Morris, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private funeral service will be held at the Ottman Funeral Home, on Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Kubis' memory may be made to the Middlefield Fire Department and Emergency Squad.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Richard A. Kodrich

NEW BERLIN — Richard A. Kodrich, 67, of New Berlin died unexpectedly Dec. 16, 2003, at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.

He was born on June 13, 1936, in Cooperstown, the son of the late William F. and Iona E. (Southworth) Kodrich.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, William R. and Henrietta Kodrich of Clarion, Pa., and Ralph and Kathy Kodrich of Morris; his sister, Ruth Williams of Earleton, Fla.; his cousins, Hilda and Joe Mercun of Oneonta, John Burns of Cortland and Imogene Bainbridge of Irwin, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Reginald Kodrich and Jerard Kodrich.

Richard enjoyed fishing and watching The Three Stooges, Gunsmoke and Abbott and Costello.

Graveside services will be held in the spring in Fly Creek Valley Cemetery, Fly Creek.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, Oxford.

Michael Marchese

GILBOA — Michael D. Marchese, 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003.

Mr. Marchese was an area resident for 30 years and a Naval veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his son, Michael, of Hawthorne, N.J.; his daughters, Josephine Beattie and Rosann Marchese, both of Gilboa. Also surviving are his two brothers and one sister; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Friends may call on Saturday morning, Dec. 20, 2003, from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Stamford. Burial will follow at the Gilboa Rural Cemetery in Gilboa at 3 p.m.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.

Cleneth Barkman

EAST MEREDITH — Cleneth (Ken) Barkman, 86, of East Meredith died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.

He was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Margaretville, the son of Claude and Iva (Finch) Barkman.

He married Rose (LiPuma) Barkman Nov. 14, 1964, in Pennsylvania. She survives, as do a daughter, Janet (Edwin) Brainerd, Prattsville; a son Wayne (Gail) Barkman of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; three brothers; a sister; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A daughter, Linda Lee Barkman; five brothers; and two great-grandchildren predeceased him.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Barkman was a World War II veteran and member of the American Legion, Donald W. Gleason Post No. 190.

A dairy farmer in East Meredith, he had also been employed at Agway in Delhi and, after retirement, for the Delaware County Highway Department.

Ken was a charter member of the East Meredith Fish and Game Club holding membership for 30 years, as well as a member of the Bloomville Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman who thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. The family will be in attendance from 5 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will take place on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony Ligato officiating at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the spring at Harpersfield Cemetery, Harpersfield.

Contributions in his memory may be made to Bloomville Fire Department.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Phyllis J. Anderson

FONDA — Phyllis J. Anderson, 73, of Fonda, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2003, at A. O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Roxbury, to Irving Tyler Sr. and Emma Cantwell.

She married Everett H. Anderson in Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., June 30, 1962.

Phyllis was a homemaker and lived in Fonda for 41 years. She graduated from Roxbury Central School in 1948.

Phyllis was a member of Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church in Roxbury.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Anderson of Fonda; a brother, Gilbert Tyler of Canastota; a sister, Jean Mitchell of Elbridge, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury.

Funeral services will follow the calling hour at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating.

Burial will take place at the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville at 2:30 p.m. also on Monday.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury.

Arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Edith D. Streeter

MARGARETVILLE — Edith D. Streeter, 70, of Margaretville, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Margaretville.

She was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Margaretville, to Burton and Lula (Allison) Hall.

A lifelong area resident, Edith worked at NBT Bank in Margaretville and at Rotron Inc.

She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Balcom and Wendy Brisco of Margaretville; three grandsons, Wade Buerge, Drew Brisco and Joshua Balcom; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Becky Wickham and Annabelle Ramp, along with nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Advent Christian Church, Margaretville, with the Rev. S. Hayden Walsh officiating.

Committal services will be held later.

Contributions in memory of Edith D. Streeter may be sent to the Humane Society of Central Delaware County, Delhi, or the Ambulance Fund of Margaretville Hospital.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Vera F. Bush

TROUT CREEK — Vera F. Bush, 83, of Trout Creek, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, after a short illness.

Mrs. Bush was born in Walton, the daughter of George and Beulah Mains Fitch.

On July 27, 1946, she married William Bush in Walton. He died in 1987.

She was employed at Bendix Corp. as a shipper, retiring in 1982.

She is survived by one sister, Grace Wayman, of Delhi; one brother, Eben Fitch, of Walton; two special nephews and caregivers, Milton and Verna Fitch and Kenneth and Linda Fitch, both of Walton.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes Wood and Mary Sherman; and three brothers, Harland, Howard and Sheldon Fitch.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at the Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Delbert Ripley, pastor of the Northfield Community Church, officiating.

Memorial contributions in Vera's memory may be made to Trout Creek Fire Department Emergency Squad. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Clark, Winter & Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.

Florence Lisi

COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Florence Lisi, 74, formerly of Cherry Valley, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.

She was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Serigo and Vincenza Gonzalez.

On Oct. 31, 1954, she married Anthony C. Lisi Sr. at St. Malachy's Church, Brooklyn.

Florence was a very kind and caring person. She was loved by all. She will be deeply missed, but she is in a better place with the ones she loves.

Survivors include her son, Anthony M. Lisi and his wife, Patricia; granddaughter, Melissa Lisi Leach and her husband, Mike; grandson, Matthew Lisi; great-granddaughter, Olivia Leach; and daughter, Laura Lisi.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Cooperstown, with the Rev. John Rosson officiating.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley.

Julian VanKeuren

STAMFORD — Julian "Jim" VanKeuren, 57, of Stamford died Dec. 19, 2003, at the Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1946, in Roxbury, the son of Hattie LaPort.

He married Rose Ingram on March 13, 1976, in Margaretville.

In prior years Jim had worked for Catskill Craftmen, the Eklund Farms in Stamford, and for Ballard Lumber in Fleischmanns.

He was a lifelong area resident. He had enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Jim is survived by his wife, Rose VanKeuren, Stamford; children, Sandra VanKeuren, Melissa VanKeuren, Jamie VanKeuren, Brian VanKeuren and Christopher Ingram; sister, Beatrice Hartwell; and five grandchildren, Caitlin Socci, Tyler Clark, Eric Mead, Larry VanKeuren and Kimberly Sites.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Jennifer VanKeuren, Jan. 29, 1988.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, with the Rev. Richard A. Dykstra officiating at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Sanford Cemetery in Margaretville at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

Edward J. Ralbovsky
Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Edward J. Ralbovsky, 84, of town of Johnstown, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Nursing Facility after a long illness.

Born May 8, 1921, in Johnstown, the son of Peter and Karolina Kumpan Ralbovsky.

He was a 1939 graduate of Johnstown High School and a 1951 graduate of Syracuse University with a BS degree in accounting, Mr. Ralbovsky served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1945.
He was employed by Kasson & Keller in Fonda as an accountant, retiring in Dec. 1986. He continued to work after his retirement part time for Keymark Corp. up until the time of his illness.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Church. He served many years as treasurer of Slovak Catholic Sokol, a member of VFW Post in Fonda, Sammonsville Volunteer Fire Dept. He also help to organize his class reunions for many years. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and playing golf.

He was married to Leah Wood Ralbovsky, who passed away March 7, 1999.

He is survived by a daughter, Ann Bruno (Stephen) of Ghent, NY; 2 sons, Edward J. Ralbovsky Jr. (Maggie) of Rancho Pelos Verdes, CA, Michael Ralbovsky (Dawn) of Gloversville; 2 grandchildren, Owen Ralbovsky and Kristian Bruno; 2 step-grandchildren, Shawn and Lori Humphrey; 2 sisters, Irma Ralbovsky of Johnstown, Olga Keeler of Fonda; 1 brother, Steve Ralbovsky of Johnstown. He was predeceased by a brother, Peter Ralbovsky.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, May 13, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church with Rev. James Fitzmaurice, pastor of Holy Trinity Parish, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda. Calling hours will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

Robert E. VanAernam
Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Robert E. VanAernam, 67, of County Hwy. 137, died Saturday night at Fonda Speedway after being stricken while racing.

Born April 26, 1938, in Johnstown, the son of Earl L. VanAernam and Glad Getman VanAernam.

He was educated in Johnstown schools. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin and the aircraft carrier Randolph.
He was employed many years as maintenance foreman by Karg Bros. Tannery of Johnstown. He also owned and operated Harry's Auto Sales in Johnstown.

Bob's favorite pastime was his stock car racing at Fonda Speedway, where he became Street Stock Champion for two years. A member of NYSCA, Redman's Lodge, Fonda American Legion Post. He also was a certified scuba diver for Fulton County Civil Defense.

Survived by wife, Shirley Stock VanAernam; 2 daughters, Nancy Lavada Sawyer (Randy) of Johnstown, Barbara Lee Gage (David) of Gloversville; 1 son, Robert E. VanAernam II (Rebekah) of Johnstown; 8 grandchildren, David J. Lavada, Jill Sawyer, Katelyn Sawyer, Dave Gage and Mathew Gage, Robert VanAernam III, Kyle VanAernam, Zachary VanAernam; 1 brother, Earl VanAernam of Randall; 3 sisters, Dorothy Shaw of Johnstown and Jessie Dence of Gloversville, Florence Warner of Fonda; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his stepfather, Chester Smith; his brothers, Harry, Eddie, Clarence and Frank VanAernam.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home with Rev. David Noone of Albany officiating. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. Donations to the family will be used to continue the 2nd and 3rd place Street Stock payout at Fonda Speedway. Donations can be made to Harry's Auto Sales, 182 Co. Hwy. 107, Johnstown, NY.

Marion E. Foss

Mrs. Marion E. Foss, 95, of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away, May 26, 2003 at the Willing Helpers' Home for Women, where she resided. Mrs. Foss was born Jan. 15, 1908 in Johnstown, N.Y., the daughter of Anthony and Theresa Maceyka Dopyera. She was united in marriage to Clarence W. Foss, who passed away April 5, 1945. She attended Johnstown and Binghamton schools and was employed as a sewer for several local companies and was last employed at Johnstown Knitting Mill, retiring in 1972. For many years, Mrs. Foss was employed as a domestic for several area families. She was a member of St. Anthony's Church and the Christian Women's Organization. She was also a member of the Johnstown 50 Plus Senior Citizens, the Gloversville Ida McGinnis Senior Citizens, the Johnstown Historical Society, the Johnstown Hospital Foundation and the Friends of the Johnstown Library.

Survivors include one brother, Steve Mares of Johnson City, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph A. Foss.

Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 12 noon Thursday at St. Anthony's Church. Interment will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church.

Billee L. Shell

Billee L. Shell, 74, of Endicott, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Charles E. Shell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Eileen Shell of Binghamton and Brian and Susan Shell of Nazareth, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Eric, and Monica; one sister, Jean Daggett; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Endicott.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 1 p.m. from the Allen Memorial Home Inc., 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott with the Reverend Jan Marsi, pastor her church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the memorial home Wednesday from 11 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Hospice Program or the American Cancer Society.

James E. Harnish

James E. Harnish, beloved husband, father and grandfather, left this earth on May 23, 2004 after a long illness. Born May 27, 1934, he was the son of Everett and Lucy Hayden Harnish.

James is survived by his wife, Naomi, whom he married May 28, 1954. Jim has two daughters, Karen (Gary) Schermerhorn of Northville, NY and Kathy (Ruben) Aguilar of Dallas, TX. Jim also has a twin brother, Jack (Liz) Harnish of Gloversville, NY; six grandchildren and one great-grandson, along with several nieces and nephews.

Jim graduated from Gloversville High School in 1952. He then went to NYS Ranger School at Wanakena, graduating in 1954. He worked for USDA from June 1954 until October 1957, when he went to work for NYS Encon Wild Life and transferred to NYS Environmental Conservation Law Enforcement in September of 1969. He retired in September of 1992.
In 1999, Jim was elected town justice of Benson until present. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He loved nature, wildlife and life in general. He especially loved time with his family; he will truly be missed.

Friends may call Saturday, May 29, 2004 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.

No flowers please. In lieu of flowers, make donations in memory of James E. Harnish to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
