Geraldine Hulbert
LAURENS — Geraldine W. Hulbert, 79, of Laurens, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at home.
She was born Dec. 4, 1924, in Wilmington, Del., the daughter of George and Cora M. (Weatherly) Timewell.
She married Donald "Farmer" Hulbert on June 29, 1941, in Auburn. Mr. Hulbert predeceased her on Oct. 9, 2001.
She was employed by Astrocom of Oneonta for 16 years until her retirement in 1986.
Geraldine loved to cook, bake and crochet. Most of all, Gerry was a mother to all and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Faulkner, and her late husband, James, of Ft. Plain, her son, Ceylon G. Hulbert, her son, Charles Hulbert and his wife, Brenda, her daughter, Priscilla Galbreth and her husband, Russell, her son, Donald "Gary" Hulbert and his wife, Patty, all of Laurens. Along with her husband, Geraldine also raised Sandra VanDuesen of Oneonta and Kathy Dvoracek of Lehighton, Pa. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Timewell, of Phoenix, Ariz.; her sister, Mrs. Thomas (Isabelle) Dublo of Cleveland, Ohio; a son-in-law, Ronald Wikoff of Oneonta. She is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her daughter, Paula (Hulbert) Wikoff, her sister, Marion Young, and her husband, Grover; and her sister-in-law, Alee Timewell, predeceased her.
Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be offered for Geraldine Hulbert on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Messner, pastor of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Laurens, officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in Cook Cemetery, West Oneonta.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 in Geraldine's memory.
Arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.
Margaret M. Royal
SCHENECTADY — Margaret M. Hebbard Royal, 76, of Furman Street, Schenectady, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
Born Margaret Mary Hebbard on Jan. 30, 1927, in Davenport, daughter of the late Clarence and Adeline Hebbard. She was raised on the farm in South Worcester. She attended Davenport Central School.
She moved to California with her family during World War II. She moved to Schenectady about two years later, where she obtained her nursing degree from the Ellis School of Nursing.
She worked at Ellis Hospital on the surgical floor for many years. She also worked for Glendale Nursing Home and did private home care before retiring.
She was a member of St. Columbus Church and Believers Fellowship of Glenville.
Margaret loved her family and everyone whom she met loved her. She will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Albert Royal; brother C. Merton Hebbard of Franklin; sister, Gertrude Chamberlin, of Oneonta. She was the loving mother of seven children, two sons, Louis Juracka and Gino Juracka, and his wife, Debra, and five daughters, Linda Smith, Tina Bliss, Debra Ferrara, Betty Lou Miller and Barbara Ann Miller. She was the loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren, Nicole (Smith) Taylor, Jennifer Smith, Rachel, Gina, Kayla and Nikki Juracka, Jlea and Lance Farrar, Jason Bliss, Emilio Mauceri, William and Nicholas Ferrara, and the late Tammy Linn Bliss. She was the loving great-grandmother of Dylan Andrew Taylor and the late Lauren Nicole Taylor. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Hawkins, and her brother William Hebbard.
The family would like to thank the Hospice staff for their support and compassion.
Calling hours will be Tuesday evening, from 5 to 7, with funeral service 7 p.m. at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St.
Burial will be in the Davenport Cemetery in Davenport, at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Hospice.
Funeral arrangements are by the Daly Funeral Home.
Linda M. Pochkar
MOUNT VISION — Linda Marie Pochkar, 58 years of age, of Mount Vision passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at her home.
She was born April 25, 1945, in Delhi, the daughter of Ralph and Jessie (Sandike) Eichler.
Linda graduated from Milford High School, Class of 1962, and was a graduate of Hartwick College, Class of 1966.
On June 12, 1966, she married John Pochkar at St. Joseph's Church in Worcester.
Linda was the Charter Coordinator and also the European Coordinator for Eastern Travel in Oneonta. Most recently she was the Librarian Aide at Laurens Central School. Linda loved the children.
She was a member of the Morris Fair Committee and was a judge for the 4-H. She enjoyed reading, knitting, baking, lawn sales, going to the cattle auctions with John Banks, shopping and most of all spending time with her family, grandchildren, friends and her cats.
Linda touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Pochkar, of Mount Vision; her mother, Jessie Eichler, of Maryland; her three children, Dianne Pochkar and Melvin Adair Jr. of Worcester, James Pochkar and his fiancee, Leslie Parrish of Richmond, Va., and Katherine Pochkar and Rich Fontanez of Athens, Pa.; her six grandchildren, Brittany Pochkar, Kiara Pochkar, Keisha Stringfield, Ryan Pochkar, Aaron Stringfield and Quinnlan Fontanez; her three stepgrandchildren, Richard, Kenneth and Jordan Fontanez; her three sisters, Judy and Mark Goff of Oneonta, Nancy Chappell of Midlothean, Va., and Andrea and Stephen Kruh of Maryland; her two brothers, Larry and Shirley Eichler of Bainbridge and David Eichler of Maryland; cousins, Dick and Susie Eichler of Portlandville; special friends, John and Peggy Banks of Laurens, and their children, Sgt. Joseph Banks of the USMC and his wife, Karinna of Oceanside, Calif., John Jr., Tiffany and Christine Banks of Laurens; her three sisters-in-law, Frances and James Partington of Schenectady, Veronica and Thomas Carroll of Virginia Beach, Va., and Helen and Donald Sandola of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; her favorite cat, Polly; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins and many, many friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta.
There will be no funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Linda's husband, John Pochkar, 109 Sohne Road, Mt. Vision, NY 13810 in loving memory of Linda Marie Pochkar.

Walter G. Hillis
DAVENPORT — The Rev. Walter G. Hillis, 75, of Davenport died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Delaware County Countryside Care Center, Delhi.
He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in New York City, the son of Harold and Ruth (Caldwell) Hillis, who were formerly of Davenport and New York City.
The Rev. Hillis was a lifelong New York State resident and retired after 30 years of ministry at the United Church of Christ in Bridgewater. He also enjoyed membership in the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church.
A sister, Jane Thayer of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; two nieces, Peggy Thayer of Martha's Vineyard and Cyndy Thayer of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; and a nephew, David Thayer of Laramie, Wyo., survive him.
Memorial services and interment will take place in the spring.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Davenport.
Myrtle L. Rider
DELHI — Myrtle L. Rider of Meredith Road, Delhi, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Cortland Care Center, Cortland.
She was born May 3, 1917, the daughter of Cora O'Rourke and Leslie Shaw.
She married Basil Rider, who predeceased her in August 1984.
Mrs. Rider was a baker for Food Service at Delaware Academy for many years. After her retirement she enjoyed working in her flower garden and dancing to country western music.
Survivors are her four children, Gerry Rider, Joyce Smith and David Rider, all of Delhi, and Barbara Secord of Moravia; as well as several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Staples of the First Baptist Church, Delhi, officiating, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Burial will take place in the spring at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Bernice Obergefell
DELHI — Mrs. Bernice (Bea) Obergefell, 80, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. Her daughter, son and daughter-in-law were by her side.
She was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Oneonta, the daughter of Edith and Lewis Tompkins.
Bea was a longtime resident of Oneonta before moving to West Laurens. From there she lived in Delhi for eight years.
Bea had worked for 10 plus years for the Otsego County Public Health Nursing Service before retiring.
Bea is survived by two sisters, Lois (Doc) Edinfield of Valrico, Fla., and Gertie Stanton of Watertown; three sons, Danny (Sue) Obergefell of Oneonta, Neil (Linda) Obergefell of Oneonta, and Barry Obergefell of Hector; four daughters, Sharon (Elbert) Brown of Oneonta, Sande Obergefell of Plattsburg, Bonnie (Jim) Francisco of Delhi, and Barbara (Dan) Hotaling of Liverpool; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bea is predeceased by her husband, Martin J. Obergefell, Sept. 25, 1997; her sister, Hazel Johnson, 1977; her son, Martin C. Obergefell, Aug. 22, 2003.
Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory, Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley, and at Bea's request there will be no funeral or calling hours.
Burial and celebration of Bea's life will be private.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the Emergency rooms as well as the hospital staff of O'Connor Hospital in Delhi and Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown for the care and attention given Bea throughout the years. A special thanks goes to Dr. Mahadeva and his staff for their very special care and attention given Bea for so many years. Another special thanks goes to the Cooperstown Medical Transport and to the Delhi Volunteer Emergency Staff; especially Bea's favorite EMT, Shawn Kauffman.
Genevieve E. Brolewski
ROSEBOOM — Mrs. Genevieve E. Brolewski, 71, passed away Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at The Meadows, Cooperstown.
She was born Oct. 21, 1932, in the town of Roseboom, the daughter of Earl and Marcia (Dornburgh) Edwards.
She married Alex Brolewski; he survives.
She attended school in Center Valley until the Cherry Valley school opened. She graduated in the Class of 1949 at the age of 16.
She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for GE in Schenectady until she took on the family farm. She also worked in maintenance for the Clark Sports Center.
She enjoyed her flowers, woodworking, crafts, gardening and making Christmas wreaths.
Survivors include her husband, Alex (John) Brolewski of Roseboom; her mother, Marcia Edwards of Cooperstown; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Ken Mitchell of Cherry Valley; a brother-in-law, Frederick Mabie of Fonda; sister, Emma Fogel of Caroga Lake; brothers, Vaughn Edwards of Milford, and Earl Edwards of Winston-Salem, N.C.; grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Peter Sprague, and Melissa Mabie; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Earl Edwards; sister, Norma Mabie; and grandsons, Alton John and Douglas German.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at noon at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating. Calling hours will precede the funeral from 10 a.m. until noon.
Contributions in Genevieve's memory may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the Activity Fund at The Meadows.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
William E. Manion
INVERNESS, Fla. — William E. Manion, 79, of Inverness, Fla., passed away Dec. 20, 2003, in Inverness.
William was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of William and Susan Manion.
Mr. Manion was an accountant for the United States Government.
He moved to Inverness from Gaithersburg, Md., in 1984. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness.
William is survived by his wife, Charlotte H. Manion, Inverness; his son, Michael W. Manion, Westminster, Md.; his daughter, Maureen Manion, Tampa, Fla.; his brother, Donald R. Manion, Bellevue, Ky.; and six grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass for Mr. William E. Manion will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills.
Friends called on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes.
