Todd A. Larsen

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Todd Andrew Larsen, 37, formerly of South Street in Edmeston, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2003, at his home in Lawrenceville.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1966, in Cooperstown, son of Floyd R. and Shirley A. Lowe Larsen.

Todd grew up in Edmeston, graduated from Edmeston Central School in 1985, and received his degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Cobleskill in 1987. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Edmeston.

He worked as a substitute teacher in several area schools, photographer for K-Mart and desk clerk at the Lake Front Motel in Cooperstown. When he started working for Tenneco Corporation, Todd moved to Victor.

An illness Todd had in infancy required surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. Prayers were answered. Todd was a miracle baby, as we were told at that time only .002 percent of infants survived meningitis. Scar tissue from that surgery became a problem on New Year's Day in 1998, and he moved back home.

Later in the year, medication had the condition under control, and Todd relocated to the Atlanta area where his three siblings lived. There he began a new career as a meat cutter for Publix Supermarkets, a position he held at the time of his death.

Todd enjoyed fishing, woodworking, photography, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and had an extensive collection of Hot Wheel vehicles in mint condition.

His love for children and animals was a lifelong passion. Friends held a special place in his heart as was the time spent with them.

He lives on, with his continued selflessness and giving to others, through organ donation.

Todd is survived by his parents; his sister, Loree, of Lawrenceville, Ga., his brother, Scott, of Acworth, Ga., and his sister, Shelley, of Marietta, Ga.

He was predeceased by a sister, Julie, in 1974, and a foster brother, Adam, in 1999.

A memorial service to celebrate Todd's life will be held in the spring.

Memorial gifts in Todd's memory may be made to: the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston; the SPCA in Cooperstown; or to a fund to be set up to give an annual award to a third grade Edmeston Central School student (Todd's favorite class when teaching) that loves children, animals and has a zest for life — please mail to the Larsens, PO Box 5115, Edmeston NY 13335.
