Albert W. Musson

GILBERTSVILLE — Albert William Musson, 90, of Gilbertsville died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born in Gilbertsville, on May 18, 1913, the son of Frederick and Lucy (Daniels) Musson.

He married Lillian E. Dyer on Feb. 19, 1938, in Gilbertsville.

He retired from Bendix Corp. of Sidney as a machinist. In his younger years he had owned and operated the Butternut Valley Hardware Store and also the Village Grocery. From 1945 to 1952, he managed a dairy farm in Lew Beach.

He was a lifetime member of the Gilbertsville Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the Livingston Manor Masonic Lodge F&AM No. 791 and served as a trustee and Superintendent of grounds of the Brookside Cemetery for many years.

Albert is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Gilbertsville; his daughters, Elinor Sorensen and husband Richard of Alder Creek, and Lucy Jane Richards and husband Robert of Gilbertsville; a sister, Louise Alice Richards of Morris; as well as several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, David Robert Musson, who died in 1948; as well as a sister, Theresa May Rudnitski; and three brothers, James F. Musson, Robert Enos Musson and Richard Daniels Musson.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Gilbertsville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Gilbertsville.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the Brookside Cemetery Association in his memory.

Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Bion F. Call

WARNERVILLE — Bion F. Call, 90, of Warnerville died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at Eden Park Healthcare Center, Cobleskill, after a long illness.

Mr. Call was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Ancram, son of James H. and Mary Evelyn Green Call, and had lived in Warnerville since 1946.

He was a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill and had served as a technical assistant for the Dairy Herd at that College for 30 years, retiring in 1976. Previously he had served in the United States Army 1941-1946.

He was married to Anna Hinkleman on Oct. 18, 1942, in San Diego, Calif.

Mr. Call was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cobleskill. He was a Past Master of Cobleskill Lodge No. 194, F&AM, Past High Priest, Holy Royal Arch Commandery, No. 76, Cooperstown, Past Grand Master, Rising Star Chapter No. 295, Cobleskill. He was member of Post No. 5016, VFW, Cobleskill.

Mr. Call is survived by his wife, Anna, Warnerville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Marion Cook, Ethel Wood and Violet Libby; and two brothers, Charles and Clayton Call.

Memorial service, Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cobleskill on Main Street, Celebrant will by the Rev. Kenneth L. Sisson, pastor of the church. Following the service, there will be a luncheon reception at the church.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorials in his name, to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, PO Box 604, Cobleskill, NY 12043, will be appreciated.

James J. O'Kelly

EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — James Joseph O'Kelly passed away at his home in East Bridgewater, Mass., on Monday, Jan. 5, 2004.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1915, in Altamont, the son of James P. and Marguerite (Gilbert) O'Kelly.

He was a graduate of Oneonta High School Class of 1933, and was then employed by his uncle, the owner of Pete's Truck Line, until entering the United States Navy in 1937. He served aboard the USS Trenton and later the USS Sims until he was honorably discharged in 1941, after which he worked in a supervisory position until his retirement at the Hingham Munitions Depot in Hingham, Mass.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert G. O'Kelly of Oneonta in 1997; a son, William in 2000; and a grandson, Jason in 1994, both of Massachusetts.

He is survived by his brother, John A. O'Kelly and Beverly M. Thomson, both of Oneonta; and his wife of 58 years, Lorraine; and 12 children, Kathleen Westhaver, Lori London, Patricia Knox, Linda Ordway, Sheila Voci, all of Massachusetts, and Marguerite Iseley of Roanoke, Va., and Maureen Naples of Grayson, Ga., his sons, Michael, Joseph, Thomas and James of Massachusetts, and John of Portland, Maine. Also 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews survive him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday, at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in East Bridgewater, Mass., with interment to follow at Northville Cemetery, East Bridgewater.

Merl J. Rous

OTEGO — Merl J. Rous, 84 years, of Otego died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at the home of his daughter, Betty Mead in Sanford, Fla.

He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Otego, the son of Sylvester E. and Mary (Hopkins) Rous.

Merl served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre for the United States Army.

He married Helen Yano on Oct. 28, 1945, in Hilo, Hawaii.

Merl was a partner of S.E. Rous & Son, Lumber Business for 15 years. He also owned and operated M.J. Rous Excavating Company in Otego. For 15 years, Merl worked at Bendix in Sidney as a carboloy toolmaker, retiring in February 1981.

Merl was a Past Master and member of the Otego Union Lodge Post No. 282 F&AM; a member of the Otego Fire Department; the Otego Rod & Gun Club; the Sidney Local No. 1529 I.A.M. & A.W.

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Rous, of Sanford, Fla.; one daughter, Betty J. Mead of Sanford, Fla.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Merle was predeceased by two brothers, Leo K. Rous and Brewster Rous; and four halfbrothers, Charles, Lester, Harry and Curtis Ackley.

There will be no calling hours or funeral services.

Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery, West Oneonta, in the spring.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

LeRoy Benjamin

ROXBURY — LeRoy Benjamin, 87, of Lake Street, Roxbury, died Jan. 6, 2004, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

LeRoy was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Brooklyn, the son of Morris and Ida "Gustomosky" Benjamin.

He married Gladys F. Jett on May 4, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas. She died March 28, 2001.

LeRoy was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II. He was a ship carpenter working on the Staten Island Ferries and at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

He lived in Roxbury for 18 years, moving here from Brooklyn.

LeRoy was a member of Ralph S. Ives Jr. American Legion Post No. 1785, Genesis Lodge, Brooklyn, and Past President of the Dock Builders Union.

LeRoy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Millie Rattiger Benjamin; his brother, Bernard "Bookie" Benjamin; and his great-grandson, Corey Roe.

He was predeceased by one grandson, John Sproston; he died in 1991.

Calling hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until funeral services at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury, with the Rev. William Hawes officiating. Burial will be in New Cedar Park Cemetery, Westwood, N.J.

Funeral arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

Macie Sue Cotten

ALBANY — Macie Sue Cotten, 8 days old, entered eternal life as an angel on Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Albany Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 28, 2003, daughter of Jason and Heather (Vandermark) Cotten in Albany.

Macie Sue is survived by her parents, Jason and Heather Cotten; sister, Mackenzie Cotten; paternal grandparents, Tim and Joann Scofield, and Leird Cotten; maternal grandmother, Heather Vandermark; paternal great-grandparents, Ed and Grace Backus, Alta Cotten and Myra Scofield; paternal great-great-grandmother, Florence Beers; aunts and uncles, Troy, Bambi and Charli Jo Vandermark, David Cotten and Hydie Madsen, Randy and Angel Leonard, Melinda Nutter and Roger Elwood, Sue and Ron Northrop, and Nicole Cotten; cousins, Michaela and Dakota Cotten, Justice Eggleston, Cole Nutter, Kari and Billy Northrop, Ricky, Marissa and Lindsay Leonard.

She is predeceased by two grandfathers, Ted Vandermark and Willard Cotten.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Circle Drive Alliance Church in Sidney at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in the spring.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Terri Kim York

PITTSFIELD — Terri Kim York, 48, of Pittsfield died on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at her home in Pittsfield.

She was born on Dec. 21, 1955, in New Berlin, the daughter of James and Beverly (Parry) Naas.

She married David York in New Berlin on Sept. 24, 1977.

She was employed as an electrical inspector for General Electric of Norwich.

Terri took great pleasure in being home with her family, her dogs, picnics at the pond and camping.

She is survived by her husband, David, of Pittsfield; her parents, James and Beverly Naas of Pittsfield; her children, David, Tristen and Kourtney York, all of Pittsfield; her four sisters, Joanne Curtis and husband, James, of Pittsfield, Diann Davisson and husband, Barry, of New Berlin, Michele Brazee and husband, George, of Pittsfield, and Cindy Crawford of Pittsfield; as well as her special loved ones, Abby, Russ and Reese.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

Funeral services will be on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in New Berlin.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the Catskill Area Hospice or the Pittsfield Fire Department in her memory.

Arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Catherine Cannon

BURLINGTON FLATS — Catherine V. Cannon, 72, of Burlington Flats died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004, at her residence with her family at her side.

She was born March 11, 1931, in Astoria, Queens, the daughter of Alexander and Katherine (Clark) Magee.

On March 11, 1952, she married James W. Cannon, who survives.

Catherine was a computer operator for Con Edison in Queens.

She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, devoted to her family.

In addition to her husband, Catherine is survived by her children, Daniel and Celia Cannon and Deborah and Jeff McDonald; her grandchildren, James Cannon, Sara Cannon, Michael Cannon, Kurt Neser and Peter Neser.

She was predeceased by her brother, John Magee; and sister, Rose McCue.

Funeral services for Catherine will be held Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home in Edmeston, with Father John Burns officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are by the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
