Carolyn Houghton
SCHOHARIE — Mrs. Carolyn Joyce (Hanson) Houghton, 73, of Driftwood Apartments, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, where she had been a patient since March 1.
Mrs. Houghton was born Feb. 25, 1931, in Langley, S.C., a daughter of Roy and Lillie Mae (Blevins) Hanson.
She had lived at Driftwood Apartments for the past 10 years and previously in Central Bridge.
She was educated in the Methodist Children's Home in Atlanta, Ga. She was a homemaker and housewife dedicated to raising her family. Mom truly missed her friends at bingo these last few months.
Mrs. Houghton was married to Albert E. Houghton in 1949, and until his death June 28, 1986.
Survivors include five sons, George E. (Norma) Houghton, of Fonda, Michael L. (Diane) Houghton, of Lykers, Jeffrey B. Houghton of Cooperstown, Willis A. (Sherri) Houghton of Schenectady, and Calvin S. Houghton of Schenectady; one daughter, Caroline M. Salisbury of Schenectady; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and Justin of Greensboro, N.C., Emmie of Columbia, S.C., Jamie of Colonie, Nathan, Simon and Calvin of Schenectady; and three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Araya and Nicholas of Greensboro, N.C. Survivors also include several brothers and sisters from Georgia.
She was predeceased by one son, Timothy Houghton in 1985.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at the Langan Funeral Home, 327 Main St., Schoharie. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. following the calling hours with Mr. Dennis Radford officiating.
Burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston-Four-Corners.
The family had requested that memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carolyn Houghton to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.

ONEONTA — A service to celebrate the life of John Marsden "Tim" Reilly, who died on Feb. 9, 2004, will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2004, at 1 p.m. in the Shineman Chapel at Hartwick College in Oneonta.

Ruth Adair
GEORGETOWN, Md. — Ruth Adair, 91, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, April 6, 2004, at her home in Georgetown.
She was born Dec. 30, 1912, the daughter of the late Hugh and Clara (Davenport) Adair, of Bloomville.
Following her high school graduation, Ruth attended business school, which was often done then. After she graduated from business school, she was talented enough to work for the Department of Interior in our nation's capitol. Truly a patriot, she worked there for nearly 30 years.
She enjoyed going to music festivals and playing games.
In her later years, she lived at a rest home in Georgetown where she did well for a long time.
Ruth is survived by James C. and Gail L. Lively, of Washington, D.C.; her two best friends and associates who helped and looked out for her for many years. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, including Hugh Adair of Milford.
She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Adair Revis, Kenneth Adair, Robert D. Adair and Duncan Adair.
Burial and committal services are pending and will take place in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Natasha Hurlburt
SIDNEY — Natasha 'Tasha' Anne Hurlburt, 18, of 15810 State Highway 8, Sidney, passed away unexpectedly Monday evening, April 12, 2004, at The Hospital, Sidney.
She was born Jan. 12, 1986, in Middletown, the daughter of Jamey and Delores Peer Hurlburt.
She was a lifelong Sidney and Bainbridge area resident. She attended the Sidney Senior High School. Tasha was an active member of the Sidney Chapter of the Future Farmers of America, cross country track, yearbook committee and the prom committee. After completing high school she planned on attending college to obtain a degree in veterinary medicine.
She is survived by her mother and her companion, Delores A. Hurlburt and Fred Barse of Sidney; father, Jamey Hurlburt of Guilford; three brothers, Ken Peer and Nicholas Hurlburt, at home, Mason Hurlburt of Bainbridge; sister, Renee Hurlburt of Stanford; two stepbrothers, Dennis Barse of Masonville, and Anthony Barse of Gastonia, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Alice Peer of South New Berlin; paternal grandmother, Doris Parshell of Zephyrhills, Fla. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
Her maternal grandfather, Kenneth Peer, paternal grandfather, Joe Hurlburt, and an aunt, Diane Peer, predeceased Tasha.
Natasha will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, from the Sidney United Methodist Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, with the Rev. David Masland, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Howard, pastor of the Federated Church, Masonville, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Sidney Chapter of the FFA, care of the Sidney High School, 95 West Main St., Sidney, NY 13838.
Deborah L. Fisher
ONEONTA — Deborah Lynn Fisher of Rons Lane, Oneonta, died unexpectedly on Friday, April 9, 2004, at her residence. She was 50 years old.
Deborah was born Feb. 7, 1954, in Walton, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Krum) Fisher.
She was educated at Walton Central School where she graduated in 1973.
She was married to Garre MacKillip in July 1980. They had a daughter, Stephanie on March 23, 1981.
Deborah worked at several different jobs before becoming disabled in 1984.
Since becoming disabled, her greatest joys were shopping and taking care of her cat, Sassie.
Deborah is survived by her father, Frank Fisher of Oneonta; her daughter, Stephanie; and granddaughter, Asia Lynn of Oneonta; two brothers, Dennis and wife, Cathy, of Unadilla, and Frank and wife, Suzanne, of Oneonta; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother, Bertha; and a brother, Randy. May you all rest in peace.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
There will be no callings hours.

Ralph W. Munson
SIDNEY CENTER — Ralph William Munson, 84, of Sidney Center, and a resident at the New York State Veterans Home, Oxford, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 11, 2004, in Oxford.
He was born Nov. 14, 1919, in Meredith, the son of the late George W. and Anna Goodsell Munson.
On Oct. 4, 1941, he married Elnora Hornbeck in Barryville. She predeceased him on Sept. 9, 2000.
For many years, Ralph was an area farmer. He also was a machinist for the Amphenol Corporation, Sidney, and retired in February 1983.
Mr. Munson was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II.
He was a member of the Trout Creek Community Church and the I.A.M.&A.W. Local 1529 Sidney.
He is survived by his son, Loren O. Munson of Sidney Center; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth and Gerald Rogers of Oneonta, and Marjorie Hitchcock of Scotia; three sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mildred Munson of Birmingham, Ala., Jeannine Hornbeck of Trout Creek, and Lillian and Morris Hornbeck of Sidney Center. Also surviving are six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Gayle Ann VanWhy; five brothers; and three sisters predeceased Ralph.
Graveside services will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Meridale, at 1 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, with the Rev. Mitchell Bush officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Maple Cottage at the New York State Veterans Home Donation Fund, 4211 State Highway 220, Oxford, NY 13830 in Ralph's name.
Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — Dorothy L. "Dee" Robinson, 47, passed away Dec. 9, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Evergreen Cemetery in Otego at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Eileen Cornwall, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta, officiating.

DELHI — Interment service for Margaret Ann Scott, who died Dec. 23, 2003, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 16, 2004, at Woodland Cemetery in Delhi, by the Rev. Paul Meiser.

Thelma L. Smith
BAINBRIDGE — Thelma LuDella Smith of Bainbridge died on April 8, 2004, at The Hospital in Sidney unexpectedly.
She was born on May 10, 1920, the daughter of Elton and Flora (Page) DeWitt.
She was the wife of Harry McKennon Smith of Bainbridge.
She was employed as a workbench worker at Amphenol in Sidney until retiring in 1980.
She was married to Harry Smith in Doraville on June 27, 1947.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Smith, in Bainbridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Susan Smith of Afton; a sister, Grace Morley of Sidney; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Smith of Sidney, Beverly and Lawrence Rowe and Fred and Debbie Smith, both of Bainbridge; and several nephews, nieces and cousins and many friends.
A graveside service will be held on April 26, 2004, at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.
Memorial gifts may be made to the McClure Cemetery in McClure in memorial of her parents Elton and Flora DeWitt.

"Bill" York, 79, of Oneonta, formerly of Delhi, who passed away Feb. 21, 2004. The Rev. Eileen J. Cornwell, pastor of Elm Park United Methodist Church, Oneonta, will officiate.
A veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, military honors will be accorded by Donald W. Gleason Post No. 190, American Legion, Delhi.

Carol A. Schmidt
MOUND, Minn. — Carol A. Schmidt, 55, of Mound passed away April 6, 2004.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Colwell; and her son, Robert.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Allen; daughter, Wendy (Russ) Trout; son, Troy; grandchildren, Matthew, Samantha and Melanie; mother, Alice Colwell; siblings, Roberta, Donna, Richard and Sue; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Funeral service was held Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 5218 Bartlett Blvd., Mound. Visitation was held two hours before the service.

Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, officiating.
Annie Fagergren
ONEONTA — Annie Fagergren, 73, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born April 13, 1930, in New York City, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Chapman McSporran) Massey.
Annie was predeceased by her husband, Sven A. Fagergren, whom she married on June 17, 1950, in Brooklyn.
She worked for the Bank of Richmondville as the secretary to the president and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartwick Seminary.
Survivors include a son, Sven T. Fagergren of Schoharie; a granddaughter, Kayla Fagergren of Largo, Fla.; a brother, Thomas Massey and a sister-in-law, Joan Massey, both of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held Wednesday, April 14, 2004, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.
The funeral service will be held 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2004, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartwick Seminary, with the Rev. Paul Messner officiating.
Burial will be at the Richmondville Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hartwick Seminary.

Herbert Cloughly
WORCESTER — Herbert T. Cloughly, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Jackson Heights, the son of Herbert T. and Ellen (Smith) Cloughly.
Herbert was a United States Army veteran, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He was employed by Western Electric Company in New Jersey for 40 years as a switchboard installer, retiring in 1980. After retirement, he moved to the Worcester area.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Martha A. (Stellman) Cloughly of Worcester; a daughter, JoAnne Cloughly and William Krause of Charlotteville; one niece and several nephews.
Private services were held.
