Joyce Marie Platt

TUCSON, Ariz. — Joyce Marie Platt, 76, passed away in Tucson on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004.

Joyce was born in Ithaca on March 20, 1928.

She was a longtime resident of Delhi. Joyce was married to Seymour Platt, also of Delhi, on June 28, 1947.

Joyce had a lengthy career as food production manager with the State University College of Technology at Delhi. Joyce and Seymour moved to Tucson in 1992 after Joyce retired from Delhi Tech. Joyce and Seymour wanted to see their granddaughters, Ashley and Cassandra, grow up.

Joyce loved to cook, and anyone that had an opportunity to eat her cooking was quite satisfied. Some of you may recall the brownies, Tollhouse cookies, and super cream puffs she would occasionally purchase from Delhi Tech.

Joyce loved to read and enjoy educational TV shows such as the Discovery Channel and the History Channel.

After moving to Tucson, Joyce and Seymour tried the local slot machines. If you are ever in Tucson, you may hear a whisper from Joyce at the original Desert Diamond "Hot Pepper" machine.

Joyce leaves behind her husband, Seymour; a son, Ron; daughter-in-law, Cathy; and her two granddaughters. Joyce also leaves behind many dear friends in Delaware County.

The entire family was able to visit with Joyce through her last hours.

A private family service will be held at Ron and Cathy’s home in Tucson.

At a later date, Joyce’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside her mother’s grave at the Calvary Cemetery in Ithaca. Joyce will be missed by all.
