He was a member of Oneida Lake Antique Car Club and Auburn Lion's Club and was an usher at St. Brigid & St. Joseph's Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Helen Shaver, died in 1999. Survivors: A daughter, Mary Ann Morelli of Clay; a son, Rocco A. of Syracuse; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Brigid and St. Joseph's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Fred Cleverly

Fred Cleverly, 89, formerly of Brewerton, died Sunday at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre. He had lived in Onondaga Hill many years and in the town of Cicero 20 years. He retired in 1986 as a truck driver for Marsellus Casket Co. in Syracuse and had owned and operated a Herald-Journal franchise in Onondaga Hill. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife, the former Berdella Handley; a daughter, Diane Couch of Liverpool; a son, Frank of Camillus; a sister, Doris Harroun of Phoenix; four grandchildren. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Wednesday in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. No calling hours. Williams Funeral Home, Cicero, has arrangements.

Rita E. Cole Eichholzer, 90, of Watertree Drive, East Syracuse, died Monday at James Square Health & Rehabilitation Centre. Born in Buffalo, she graduated from Blodgett Vocational High School in 1929. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and its Church Circle. She was a member of Eastwood American Legion Post 1276 Auxiliary, Swiss Ladies Club and Eastwood High School Parent Teacher Organization. A son, Donald, died previously. Survivors: Her husband of 70 years, Albert J.; two daughters, R. Jill DeOrdio of LaFayette and Merry Varkett of Pendergrass, Ga.; four sons, A. William and Richard, both of Baldwinsville, Terry of East Syracuse and Fred of Ilion; three sisters, Evelyn Wilde and Thelma Tupper, both of Mattydale, and Georgia Gaffney of Albany; a brother, William Cole of Arroyo,  Calif.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Mae R. Jerome Fumano, 74, of Solvay died Sunday. Born in Solvay, she graduated from Solvay High School. She was a bus driver for the Solvay School District many years. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church and its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of Solvay Tigers Auxiliary and Geddes Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Joseph D., died in 1999. Survivors: Two daughters, Carole Fumano of Camillus and Diane Fumano of Cleveland; a son, Daniel of Camillus; a sister, Betty Demperio of Solvay; a brother, Frank Jerome Jr. of Solvay; five grandchildren. Mary L. Nolan De Furio, 71, of Lakeland died Monday. She was born in Syracuse. She taught English to the international students at Syracuse University. She was a member and trustee of the International Assembly and volunteered for the church. Her husband, Nick J., died in 1994; a son, Nicholas Jr., died in 1989. Survivors: A daughter, Julie A. Bray of East Syracuse; two sons, Edward P. of Camillus and Daniel R. of Lakeland; three sisters, Anna Mastroleo of Camillus, Helena Luongo of Lakeland and Nina De Furio of Liverpool; eight grandchildren. Sarah and Robert Shattuck

Sarah and Robert Shattuck of Gladwyne, Pa., died April 1 and 2. They grew up in Syracuse and their families had summer cottages at Tully Lake Park. He was founder of the Ceramic Guild of Central New York and graduated from Syracuse University, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and captain of the swim team. He had worked at Crucible Specialty Metals. They lived in Syracuse before moving away many years ago. Among survivors: Her sister, Nancy  Taylor Hilfinger of Syracuse; his sister, Kathryn Shattuck Tiffany of Syracuse. He received a master's degree in education from State University College at Oswego. He retired in 1987 as engineering manager at Carrier Corp. after 28 years. He worked at Esselte Pendaflex from 1990 to 1995. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: His companion, Ernestine T. Clark; a daughter, Karin G. Simmons of Syracuse; a son, Keith A. of Plymouth, Mass.; a sister, Betty M. Clemo of Camillus; six grandchildren. Services: 7 p.m. Thursday at Maurer Funeral Home.
