Sharon Campbell

WALTON — Sharon (Bolivar) Campbell, 49, of Walton died peacefully Monday, June 20, 2005, at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born May 16, 1956, in New Haven, Conn. She married her longtime companion, Jim Campbell, on June 16, 2005.

Sharon received her AAS degree in nursing from SUNY Delhi in May 1994. After her graduation, she worked at Delaware Valley Hospital as a registered professional nurse from 1994 through fall 2000. Her specialty was labor and delivery, postpartum care and newborn nursery. She also taught childbirth classes there. From October 2000 to the present, Sharon worked as a registered nurse service coordinator at Delaware County Public Health, assisting families with infants and toddlers to obtain needed services for their children with developmental delays.

Sharon had a great passion for her work and loved helping families. She continued to pursue professional development by attending many continuing education trainings and had started taking classes toward a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

A lover of nature and the outdoors, Sharon enjoyed camping and working in her flower garden. She had a passion for helping children and enjoyed every minute of her duties at Public Health. She created many close friendships at work and was loved by everyone in her public-health family.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Walton; three sons, Tom and Kris Agro, Jeff Bolivar and Justin Bolivar; a daughter, Anna Campbell; a great-granddaughter, Melissa Agro; three sisters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the United Ministry, Delhi, with the Rev. Lisa Heckman officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Contributions are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society Memorial Program, 31 Adams Ave., Endicott, NY 13760, in loving memory of Sharon Campbell.

Arrangements are by the MacArthur Funeral Home of Delhi.

Christopher Vass

Christopher Luther Vass, 33, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 20, 2005.

Chris was an avid lover of music and writing. In his earlier years, he was a DJ.

He was pursuing his bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Chris is survived by his loving parents, Randall E. and Betty Jane Vass of Hobart; and his loving sister, Jennifer Melville of Hobart. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Betty P. Savage and Stella S. Vass of the state of Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Catskill Area Hospice.

Betty J. Mott

HOBART — Betty J. Mott, 66, of Hobart died Monday, June 20, 2005, at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi.

She was born April 21, 1939, in Hobart, the daughter of Theodore and Edith (Smith) Whispell.

She married Clifford Mott Sr. on Feb. 9, 1957, in Hobart.

A lifelong Hobart resident, Betty was a housewife who belonged to and was active in the Hobart United Methodist Church, Hobart.

Her husband, Clifford Mott Sr., survives, as do her four children, Sandra (Paul) Cooper, Virginia; Clifford Mott Jr., Hobart; Melanie (Francis) Baltazar, Michigan; and Keith Mott, Hobart; grandchildren, Amanda (Tom) Viscosi, Rome, Brittany Cooper, Florida, Brendon Cooper, Virginia, Melinda D’Aquisto, Virginia, and Jacob and Joshua Baltazar of Michigan. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Havrish, Jefferson, and Shirley Whispell, Hobart; a brother, Clarence Whispell, Hobart; and her aunts, Mabel Corbin, Stamford, Frances Kristofik, Oneonta, Beatrice Laskaris, Oneonta, and Mary Weill, Otego.

An infant son; a sister, Frances Whispell; and a niece, Frances Whispell McMullen, predeceased her.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at the Hobart United Methodist Church, Hobart, with the Rev. Lorraine Coscia-Ackerman officiating.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart. The family will be in attendance in the evening.

Burial will follow the service in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hobart Emergency Squad or Hobart United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Marianne Stoddart

SIDNEY — Marianne C. Stoddart, 69, of Sidney passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 18, 2005, at her home.

She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Binghamton, daughter of the late Milo and Frances Hare.

She was employed by Amphenol Corp. in Sidney for 38 years when she retired.

Marianne is survived by her husband, John Stoddart, Sidney; son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Donna Stoddart, Huntsville, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Thomas Cook, Unadilla; grandchildren, Matthew Stoddart Jr., Brianna Stoddart, Chris Schreier, David Schreier, Heather Schreier and Jonathan Stoddart; and great-grandchildren, Nathan Wambolt, Kaylee Schreier.

She was predeceased by her son, Matthew Sr.

Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Delhi.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main St., Sidney, NY 13838.

Joseph A. Pierro

NORWOOD — Joseph A. Pierro, 93, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood.

He was the son of the late Augustino and Anna Mari (Turco) Pierro.

He was born in Boston on Dec. 19, 1911. He was a former longtime East Boston resident and had lived in Foxboro since 1978. Joseph was educated in the Boston public school system. He was a compositor for the Boston Globe for more than 40 years, retiring in 1979. Joseph was a member of the Franklin Typographic Society.

Joseph was the beloved husband of the late Antoinette (Grande) Pierro.

He was the loving father of William and his wife, Nancy Pierro, of Foxboro and Robert and his wife, Kay Pierro, of Fly Creek. He was the loving brother of Anthony Pierro of Winthrop. He also is survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are private.

Arrangements are being handled by the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro. For additional information, please contact (508) 543-5471.

Xavier Shearer

ILION — A committal and burial service for 14-month-old Xavier Shearer, who died Jan. 10, 2005, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, in the Fly Creek Cemetery with the Rev. John Young of Schuyler Lake officiating.

Arrangements are by Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Theron E. Boyd

MOUNT UPTON — Committal services for Theron E. Boyd will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Upton with the Rev. Mary Ann Linder officiating.

The family would like to invite friends and family immediately after the service to Copes Corners Park.

Louis Lauro

HOBART — Louis Lauro, 82, of Hobart died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi.

He was born April 30, 1923, in New York City, the son of Tiberio and Julia (Millia) Lauro.

He married Krystyna (Turek) Lauro on July 20, 1979.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Lauro served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater.

He was a carpenter who loved his work and enjoyed employment in New York City and Orange and Sullivan counties.

He is survived by his wife at home; 11 children; and 14 grandchildren. They were each a very important part of his life.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Calling hours will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the service in Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hobart Emergency Squad.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Thelma Millard

ONEONTA — Thelma Millard, 86, formerly of the Binghamton and Norwich areas, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2005, in A.O. Fox Nursing Home of Oneonta.

Born in Binghamton on April 23, 1919, Thelma was the daughter of Frederick and Theresa Millard. When Thelma was 12, her mom passed away, and she went to live with her aunt’s family, staying with them for the next 24 years.

A graduate of the Binghamton High School, she worked briefly in the Binghamton area as a secretary.

From 1974 through 1991, Thelma lived in Norwich with the Norman and Beatrice Smith family, whom she referred to as her "second family." During those years, she attended the Church of the Holy Apostle St. Bartholomew’s.

From 1991 through 1993, she made her home in Preston Manor before relocating in 1993 to A.O. Fox Nursing Home, where she resided at the time of her passing.

Thelma has no known surviving family, but she leaves behind many special friends and her "adopted family" at A.O. Fox Nursing Home, who will miss her smile, energetic personality and their daily walks.

There will be no formal service or calling hours.

Interment will be in the Chenango Valley Cemetery of Binghamton.

Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home of Norwich.

Shane K. Del Rossi

MESA, Ariz. — Shane K. Del Rossi, 20, of Highway 20, Richfield Springs, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 11, 2005, in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born Aug. 1, 1984, in Voorhees Township, N.J., a son of Nicholas and Kathleen Deterding Del Rossi. He had attended Richfield Springs High School and had worked various jobs around the country.

Besides his mother and father, he is survived by four brothers, Nicholas and his wife, Edna, of Franklinville Township, N.J., Daniel of Cookeville, Tenn., Peter and Aaron, both of Richfield Springs; and two sisters, Melisa and her husband, John Wood, of Richfield Springs and Kathleen Del Rossi of Richfield Springs. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Shane will be at 3 p.m. Friday at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Alan Miller, pastor of the Richfield Springs Bible Church, officiating. The family will be present to receive friends and relatives from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Friday.

Interment will be private and will take place at a time convenient to the family.

Thomas L. Arnold

UNADILLA — Thomas L. Arnold, 69, of Unadilla passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at his residence.

He was born June 6, 1936, in Jonesville, Vt., the son of Willford and Elizabeth (King) Arnold.

He married Kathleen Mondore on March 10, 2002.

Tom served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Following his retirement, he was caretaker for the Trout Club in Stowe, Vt., an over-the-road truck driver and most recently worked for Birnie Bus and the Oneonta OPT.

He was a member of the Grange and was a past master of the Colchester, Vt., Grange.

He enjoyed fishing and special times spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Arnold, of Unadilla; his children, Julie (Ron) Morrissey of Crown Point, Tammie Arnold and Kim Anderson of Fletcher, Vt., Thomas (Renita) Arnold of Johnson, Vt., James Kevin Harlow of Los Angeles, Calif., Theresa (Herbert) McCall of Unadilla, Martha (Jason) Hall of Unadilla, Dale (Dawn) McCall of Franklin, and Carrie (Rick) Hodge of Unadilla; 22 grandchildren, including Jesse Magoon, Shannan Morrissey, Jaimee Morrissey and Renada and Thomas Arnold; two great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also is survived by a sister, Elizabeth (Louis) Wells of Milton, Vt.; his mother-in-law, Vivian Mondore; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna and Ralph Amatuccio, Stephanie and David Wright and Richard Mondore; and the mother of his children, Veleda (Bernie) Lebiecki.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Lowe; and his brothers, Robert, Richard and Norman Arnold.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, 425 Main St., Franklin, with the Rev. Michael Amos officiating. Burial will be in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, at the funeral home at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are by the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin.
