Robert (Bob) P. All
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Robert (Bob) P. All, 86, of Columbia S.C., formerly of Oneonta, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at Twilite Manor Adult Home, Cayce, S.C.
Born Feb. 12, 1919, in Hobart, Bob was the son of the late Sherman S. and Corabell (Hotchkiss) All.
He married Bellfreida Zeidner on Aug. 31, 1940. She predeceased him Dec. 7, 1978. He married Aleen Widger Sommer on Oct. 27. 1979. She predeceased him Jan. 30, 2005.
Robert bought the dairy farm on Glenbridge Road in the town of Oneonta in 1938, which he owned and operated until he sold it to his son in 1990. He then continued to help his son operate the farm for 10 more years.
Robert was a 75-year member of the Otego Susquehanna Valley Grange and the New York State Grange. He served with many farm-related committees including the Legislative Committee of the State Grange and ASC Community Committee and Otsego County FHA Committee.
He was a past member of the West Oneonta Fire Department serving on the Board of West Oneonta Fire Commissioners and the Town of Oneonta Grievance Committee.
Robert is survived by a daughter and her husband, Dolores (Dollie) and Ron Baldwin of Columbia, S.C.; a son and his wife, Sherman and Linda All of Oneonta; three stepchildren, Jean and Dick Hamilton of Otego, Mike and Betty Sommer of Maryland and Judy and Hank Moyer of Tennessee; a sister, Isobel Moxley of Laurens; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Agnes Dibble and Elsa Peck.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005. Interment will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29210 or to Alzheimer’s Association Palmetto Chapter, PO Box 7044, Columbia, SC 29202.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.
Joseph H. Lapine
OTEGO — Joseph H. Lapine, 15, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at his home.
He was born May 17, 1990, in Cooperstown, the son of Joseph W. and Annette K. (Fancher) Lapine.
Joe was a student at the Unatego Junior and Senior High School. This September he would have entered the ninth grade.
He was a wonderful guy who loved and was loved by his family and many friends. Joe especially enjoyed his animals, music and life. He had a great sense of humor and loved joking and making people laugh. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Annette Lapine of Otego; his sisters, Amber and her husband, Paul Francis, of Otego, Tanya Hamilton of Cooperstown and Kathleen Lapine of Otego; a niece, Charisma K. Francis; a nephew, Jordan Hamilton; his grandmother, Shirley Echhorn of Laurens; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Cremation took place at the Hillington Crematory. Calling hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005. The memorial service will start at noon with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, PO Box 467, Otego, NY or the Joe Lapine Memorial Fund, care of Unatego Junior and Senior High School, 2641 state Highway 7, Otego, NY 13825.

Joseph T. Struckle
WORCESTER — Joseph T. Struckle, 87, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown.
He was born July 23, 1918, in Davis, W.Va., the son of John and Jennie (Sernel) Struckle.
Joe married Margaret Maneck on Oct. 28, 1944, in Worcester.
He retired from the local labors union, and worked for Lane Construction in Cobleskill. Joe was a lifetime member of the Eagle’s Club. He was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching the local high school teams.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Struckle of Worcester; two sons, Douglas and his wife, Kathleen Struckle, of Clarence and Ron and his wife, Cindy Struckle, of Laurens; two grandchildren, Marissa and Matthew Struckle of Laurens; a sister, Jennie Sega of Stamford; three brothers, John and his wife, Edna Struckle, of Albuquerque, N.M., Frank and his wife, Elsie Struckle, of Cresco, Pa., and Bill and his wife, Betty Struckle, of Roswell, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
At Joe’s request, he was cremated and there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in loving memory of Joe to the Worcester Emergency Squad, PO Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197.
Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St., Worcester.
Joshua Ellsworth
OTEGO — Joshua Anthon Ellsworth, 25, of Otego and formerly of Arizona, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, as a result of an auto accident.
He was born in San Mauel, Ariz., the son of Rory Melvin Ellsworth and Kenda (Butler) Ellsworth.
He was engaged to Laura Rous.
He had most recently worked as a cook at the Lakefront Inn in Cooperstown and had also worked at Ginos & Joes and the Subway in Oneonta.
He enjoyed playing basketball at the East Sidney dam and local parks.
Joshua enjoyed art and was a free spirit with a great sense of humor and loved life.
He is survived by his fiancee, Laura Rous; his adopted daughter, Hannah Rous; and his adopted grandmother, Agnes Rous of Otego. He is also survived by his mother, Kenda Ellsworth of Tucson, Ariz.; his father, Rory Ellsworth of Phoenix, Ariz.; his sons, Charles Scott Ellsworth of Arizona and Shawn Hanmaker of South Dakota; his brothers, Jason Ellsworth of California and Nathan Ellsworth of Arizona; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Burleson of Brawley, Calif; as well as many dear friends and extended family.
Calling hours will be private at the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris.
Funeral services and burial will be held later at the Desert Sunset Funeral Home in Tucson, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make donations to the Laurens Emergency Squad in his memory.
Local arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
Arlene Adelfio
PORT SAINT LUCIE, Fla. — Arlene Adelfio, 75, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at her home in Florida.
She was born March 23, 1930, in Schenevus, the daughter of Clarence and Gladys (Alcott) Pier.
Arlene married Frank Adelfio on Aug. 14, 1949. He predeceased her December 1997.
She is survived by her children, Frank and his wife, Star Adelfio, of San Diego, Calif., JoAnn and her husband, Wayne Nelson, of Tacoma, Wash., Janet Adelfio of Denver, Colo., and Paul and his wife, Paula Adelfio, of Lexington, Ky.; two granddaughters, Lauren and Brittney; three brothers, Maynard Pier of Schenevus, Donald and his wife, Alice Pier, of Milford and Millard and his wife, Marilyn Pier, of Albany; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Pier, and three brothers, Morris, Edmund and Richmond Pier.
A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at the Roger L. Byrd Funeral Home, 7664 state US Highway 1, Port Saint Lucie, Fla.

Clayton R. Walley
BINGHAMTON — Clayton R. Walley, 61, of Binghamton passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City.
He was born Aug. 19, 1943, son of Ford F. and Veda (Backus) Walley Sr. in Cannonsville.
Clayton was employed as a tool maker for Amphenol Corp. in Sidney for 41 years.
He was a member of the Sidney Moose Lodge No. 277 in Sidney. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
Clayton is survived his wife, Frances Walley, Binghamton; his father, Ford F. Walley Sr., Afton; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Roger and Denita Walley, Minnesota, Jim and Amy Walley, Owego, Stephen Walley, Minnesota, and Thomas and Sherry Clifford, Binghamton; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Gary Page, Binghamton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ford and Ann Walley Jr., Deposit, Francis and Barbara Walley, Unadilla, and Richard Walley, Albany; seven grandchildren, Brennen, Adam, Carter, Jordan, Ian, Evan and Courtney; and nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
He was predeceased by his mother, Veda Walley, and nephew, Robert Walley.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, and from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, when the family will be in attendance.
Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Benjamin Shaw, pastor of the North Afton Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Afton at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Rexford ’Rex’ J. Accurso Sr.
ONEONTA — Rexford J. Accurso Sr., 71, of Oneonta, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, in the town of Davenport as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born July 9, 1934, in Oneonta, the son of Peter and Hildred (Halstead) Accurso.
A lifelong area resident, Rex attended the Percy I. Bugbee School in Oneonta as well as Hobart School and South Kortright Central School. He graduated in 1964 from Superior School of Auctioneering in Decatur, Ill.
Rex was a self-employed auctioneer and owner of Rex’s Auction Service. He also owned and operated The Rock Inn Motel on Southside Oneonta as well as the Funny Farm including Tubby’s Ice Cream Stand. Rex also worked for Newburgh Auto Auction, Stateline Auto Auction and CNY Auto Auction as an independent contractor.
Rex was a member of the New York State Auctioneers Association and the National Auctioneers Association. He enjoyed attending the state and national conventions very much. He loved antique cars and was an honorary member of the Reminiscers Antique Car Club. Rex also enjoyed traveling and making new friends. Rex will be deeply missed by his family and all of those who knew him.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Eileen Enkler of Oneonta; his son, Rexford Accurso Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Oneonta; his sisters, Betty Eitleman and Marie Laterra of Oneonta; his brother, Vincent P. Accurso and his wife, Cheryl, of Ridgecrest, Calif.; his aunts, Juanita Ploutz and Ruth Cuomo of Oneonta; two grandsons, Daniel and Erik of Oneonta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Accurso.
Funeral services for Rexford J. Accurso Sr. will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Burial will follow in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in memory of Rexford "Rex" J. Accurso Sr.

Ruth Lewis Yule
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Ruth Lewis Yule, 86, formerly of Cooperstown, died peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2005, in Hollywood, Fla.
Ruth was a distinguished poet who taught English for more than two decades at Cooperstown High School in Cooperstown before retiring and moving to East Lansing, Mich., in 1985. There she led classes in great literature for the next 18 years. She was valedictorian of her high school senior class in Richfield Springs and received a teaching degree in English from Albany State University and Colgate College.
Ruth received numerous awards and honors during her lifetime, including the East Lansing Crystal Award and the Michigan State Apollo Award for her outstanding academic contributions to the East Lansing community. Her passion for Tolstoy, Nabokov, Dickens, James and Flaubert, among others, filled her life and the lives of hundreds of her students with the endless joys of great literature.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Kathi in Florida and Christine in Michigan; one son, James in Texas; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Bryan, Lisa (Scott), Matthew (Cris), Sarah (C.J.), Nicole (Jim); eight great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Trevor, Ian, Molly, Ansley Mae, Teagan, Madeleine and Alexa; a cousin, Steven VanWoert; and a very special friend, Nicholas Alan Foster of Lansing, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her musician husband, Jimmy Yule; her mother, Marian "Noni" Lewis; her father, Benjamin Lewis; and her younger brother, George Robert Lewis.
A celebration reception will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 27, at the University Methodist Church in East Lansing.
A local memorial service will be held later on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown, where Ruth and her husband, Jimmy, spent countless summer days in his small fishing boat; she, reading one of her many books, while he trolled for lake trout and bass.

William J. Callahan
MOUNT UPTON — William John Callahan, 82, of Mount Upton and Ormond Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at home in Florida.
Bill was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
Bill retired in 1968 from Fairchild Republic in Farmingdale and moved to Holly Hill, Fla. A gifted artist, Bill continued to paint and sculpt after his retirement. He also loved to play the piano and organ.
Bill owned the Way Back of Sundown Golf Course in Guilford and enjoyed his daily rounds of golf. He was also a member of the Riviera Golf Club in Ormond Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Crystal of Ormond Beach; stepdaughter, Charlene "Charlie" Harkness; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Ron and Pat Phelps of Florida, Harry and Ginger Phelps of Long Island, Linda Zohlman of Florida, Bob and Judy Phelps of Sidney, Mike and Joann Phelps of Long Island, Jack and Gloria Callahan of Wells Bridge, and Patty and Bill Featherstone of Long Island.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian; his brother, Edison; his sister, Marion Callahan Phelps; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held for Bill in Ormond Beach.
