Earl R. Parsons

UNADILLA — Earl Richard "Red" Parsons, 91, of Unadilla passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at the Skilled Nursing Facility in Sidney.

He was born April 6, 1914, the son of the late John and Marie (Richards) Parsons in Wilkesbarre, Pa.

He married Hazel Armstrong in Richfield Springs on May 1, 1936.

He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Wisconsin. Earl was employed as a tool maker for the Scintilla Division of Bendix Corp. in Sidney. He retired in 1976. He was the past owner of the Twentieth Century Restaurant in Oneonta.

Mr. Parsons was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the NRA and the National Campers and Hikers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Hazel Parsons of Sidney; daughter, Phyllis and John Greene of Newark; sons, Gene and Janet Parsons of New Milford, Conn., and Richard and Kathleen Parsons of Oneonta; grandchildren, Michael and Judy Greene, Lori Ann and Donald Brown, Matthew Parsons, Deborah and Lennie Bisaccia and Stephen and Andrew Parsons; great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Julia Greene and Molly and Harrison Brown; sisters, Beverly Ritchko of Oneonta and Marilou and David Stewart of New Hope, Pa.; a brother, Stuart and Catherine Parsons of Virgil; and sister-in-law, Josephine Parsons of Oneonta.

He was also predeceased by a brother, two sisters, a nephew and two nieces.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.

Pauline Partridge

SIDNEY — Pauline Partridge, 82, of Bainbridge passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at the Skilled Nursing Facility in Sidney.

She was born Oct. 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Kruger) Ostrander in Rockdale.

Pauline married Llewellyn Clark on Sept. 28, 1941, in Unadilla. He predeceased her April 7, 1971. In 1972, she married Howard Partridge in Mount Upton. He predeceased her Feb. 21, 2002.

Pauline was a member of the East Guilford Presbyterian Church and the Ladies of the Moose in Sidney. She also enjoyed bowling.

Mrs. Partridge was employed by Keith Clark in Sidney when she retired.

She is survived by her sons, Walter and Letha Clark of Bainbridge, Paul and Darlene Clark of Mount Upton and Steven and Victoria Clark of Mount Upton; her daughter, Loretta and Donald Wilber of Mount Upton; her friend and companion, Albert Riker of Bainbridge; brothers, Howard Ostrander of Trout Creek, Donald Ostrander of Michigan and Carroll and Phyllis Ostrander of Mount Upton; sisters, Luella and Gleason Puffer of Unadilla and Linda and Albert Pope of Mount Upton; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

She is also predeceased by her brother, Kenneth Ostrander, and sister, Thelma Peck.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel in Sidney. The Rev. Veleda Banta will officiate.

Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Upton.

Memorial contributions may be made to the East Guilford Presbyterian Church or the Rockdale Community Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.

Grace Gucciardo

JERSEY CITY, N.J. — Grace Sciortino Gucciardo died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005.

She was the wife of the late Stephen; mother of Joseph, Savio, Stephen, Charles and Susan Filingeri; grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of five.

There will be a private gathering followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass on Monday, Sept. 26, at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 252 9th St., Jersey City, N.J.

Interment will be in the National Cemetery, Calverton, L.I.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Grace’s name may be made to the VFW Post 10066, PO Box 311, Jensen Beach, FL 34957.

Carmela M. Baldo

ONEONTA — Carmela M. (Millie) Baldo, 72, of Oneonta passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.

Millie was born the daughter of Joseph and Tesi (Angellotti) Amatucci.

For more than 30 years, Millie owned and operated a business on the corner in West Oneonta. It started as a grocery store, was converted to include a snack bar, then to a restaurant called Pacesetter’s and finally to a tavern called "Millie’s Place" for her local friends to congregate.

Millie was an avid sports fan, especially of the New York Yankees. Over the years she sponsored a softball team and a billiards team. Millie loved to share her time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, Amilio "Sonny" and his wife, Kathleen "Kay" Amatucci, of Oneonta; sister-in-law, Lena Amatucci of Brooklyn; four nieces, Joanne and her husband, Paul, Parouse of Brooklyn, Lisa and her husband, Stan, Costigliacci of Brooklyn, Gina Amatucci and her husband, Bernard Mater, of Germany, and Kathleen and her husband, Brett, Bentley of Westford; eight grandnieces; one grandnephew; several cousins; and her many friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Tesi (Angellotti) Amatucci; her brother, James Amatucci; her first husband, Donald T. Cetta; and her second husband, George A. Baldo.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at which time the family will be in attendance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820-1319.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Shirley I. McAdams

DELHI — Shirley I. McAdams, 67, of Delhi passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford, after a 13-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Masonville, the daughter of Leland and Annabelle Cutting.

She married Chester L. McAdams Jr. on Sept. 30, 1972, in Delhi. They were married 33 years.

Mrs. McAdams was employed for more than 20 years as an administrative secretary at Delaware County Home and Infirmary in Delhi, retiring in 1990.

A devoted Christian, she loved to sing in church, at funerals and at weddings.

She surrounded herself with her family and was a loving grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Chester L. McAdams Jr.; two daughters, Kim and her husband, Beau Bracchy, and Kelly and her husband, Thomas Clark; grandchildren, Raegan and Bryce Bracchy, Taylor, Darin and Kyle Clark; her stepchildren, Chester McAdams III, Cecelia Brytton, Douglas McAdams and Renea Tallant; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the Community Church in Columbus with the Rev. Steve Reese officiating.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Arthur Carpenter

NEW BERLIN — Arthur C. "Pat" Carpenter, 91, of New Berlin passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at home in New Berlin.

Pat was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Newton, Pa., the son of John and Carrie (Manville) Carpenter.

He married Rhoda V. Carpenter on June 19, 1937, in Glenburn, Pa. She predeceased him Aug. 28, 2004.

Pat valued family and friends above all else. We knew we could always depend on his loving support.

Pat is survived by his children, Mrs. William (Patricia) Conklin, Peekskill, John Carpenter, Stormville, Rhoda S. Carpenter, Binghamton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pat worked on dairy farms for many years until he was employed as a greenskeeper at Mohansic Golf Course in Yorktown Heights.

He was a 25-year member of the Phoebus Lodge No. 82, New Berlin.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with the Rev. Ernest Brodie of the Robertsville Bible Church, Morganville, N.J.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN 38105.

Funeral arrangements are by the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.

Benedict Meissner

ONEONTA — Benedict Meissner Sr., 57, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 1, 1948, in Tarrytown, the son of Charles H. Sr. and Mary (Lukavich) Meissner.

Benedict enjoyed fishing and bowling.

He is survived by a daughter, Pauline, and her husband, Bradley Rice, of Oak Grove, Mo., and their five children; a son, Benedict Jr. and his wife, Cecily Meissner, of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and their three children; a brother, Charles H. Meissner Jr. of Croton on Hudson; a sister, Julie Bennett of Cape Vincent; and several nephews and cousins.

Benedict was cremated and a memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral, Oneonta, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor at the Elm Park United Methodist Church, officiating.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

The Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta, is serving the family.
